Dex user here, coming from Bow / Musket - switching to Mage made the game easy mode for me, I’m 100% sure the Fire staff is never going to be out of meta simply because it has access to multiple abilities that allow it to deal a consistently decent amount of AoE damage
Here is a brief list of said abilities that make Fire Mages sit on the top of the current Meta in the DPS role:
-
Pillar of Fire (combined with Refreshing pillar of fire this is literally the only ability in the game that lets you refresh its full cd when hitting 3+ players) Also deals a consistently decent amount of damage between 2k-4k
-
Fireball (combined with empowered fireball, 350 int and 150 con you can smash players with 2-4k fireball hits, despite the current elemental gem scaling bugs it still hits like a truck if played with an opal)
-
Flamethrower (this is by far the most consistent no-effort high reward ability in the game, it has NO cooldowns if you talented into its full tree and can be deactivated and reactivated at any given point providing stacks of burning and consistent unmatched DPS pressure on any poor soul within 5-10meters of its range)
-
Burn Out (the only utility ability in the Fire staff tree, good mobility and decent damage - can easily be stagger-cancelled but still reliable nonetheless)
Mages in general have it really good with the current meta: FS, IG and VG, IG being really top-picks in many servers. It’s the dex builds that have lower pick-rates in the current PvP scenario
In any WAR scenario there’s a LOT of Melee bruisers (GA + WH, SNS + WH, IG + GA, GA + Hatchet) and a LOT of Mages (VG + IG heavy, FS + IG standard mage dps)
There’s barely any Bows and probably only 5-Man musket max on Wars which means the other 45 players are all (Bruiser/Mage/Healers comps) Leaving the Dex in the dirt at the moment. I Hope @BRGF can get a good read out of this in order to spread awareness for a healthier and more balanced game.
