Mages are now crap. With all movment related builds all range builds got hit, but mages especialy. Now any mele does destroy mages with small amount of skill. And builds like GA/hatchet or SS/hatchter are unbeatable to mages since moment they close distance you cant get it back.

If losing the ability to keep the empower from meteor shower after weapon swap is the thing that makes “the firestaff is unplayable” for you. Then… i have bad news for you. And its not the firestaff.
Every change is “oh no its unplayable now” i played FS/IG through the 25 simultaneous nerfs they got in october. No single change is going to be nearly as bad as that. Ever.
This update has put paladins in an even better place. Had plenty of groups trying to take my gf and I out since we flagged for brimstones. Watching her kill a group of 4 dps and their healer because they couldn’t zerg me and defend against her (she’s a bruiser) at the same time as glorious.
With all the nerfs, it’s as easy as dropping a sacred and swapping to my sword and just blocking or shield rushing. Sacred outlasts fortifying shield rush, so you get the benefits of both weapons when no one else on the board does.
The only person to ever come close to taking me out was an Ice mage, hence the definitely satirical post about nerfing them
