Having played a Fire Mage since beta, Fire Staff has never been in a better place.
With the new perk re-make for empowering fireball (on weapon), efficient burnout, and Rune of Helios buff, mages can top 6k+ hypothetical fireballs now. I was routinely doing 5k+ today in an OPR. The “completion” component of burnout makes it pretty balanced imo. I have not tested incinerate so can’t comment on that.
Receivers of said fireballs may beg to differ, but I’d argue there is plenty of counter-play (dodge, maelstrom, tomb, riposte, potions, gemstone dust, etc etc). Firestaff is back, please don’t nerf it.
Of course anyone that can do half or more of the average person’s HP when someone’s back is turned, from 50m away, will say it’s a great and balanced weapon.
Sry but hitting fireball for 6k does not feel ballanced at all. Skill is super easy to land in close/mid range. So 6k dmg if target is 4-5 resilient perks is way to much imho.
I still want to see faster casting time od Burnout… All other escape skills are casted almost instanly.
Incinerate should have greater knockback. Otherwise is still useless.
Regarding morę dmg from fireball. This is the only skill that now can do really big dmg. Maybe its easy to land but… if you look at light / heavy attacks dmg and how mages are slow in general - I dont care.
I would prefer fixes in direction of increasing movement speed / reduction recovery time after shooting, but welll, it is how it is
Although this is stacking both Efficient Burnout and Rune of Helios; so this isn’t a normal hit, but a case when you line everything up; yes maybe easy to do but also easy to predict.
Fire Staff needs to have the damage as it does not have any control.
Oh that’s a good point. To get those high numbers, you must stack Empowering fireball (on weapon specifically), efficient burnout, and rune of helios. You also need to complete the the full duration of burnout, without being interrupted. So the numbers are high, but its very conditional.
Yea maybe its not op since whole combo is not easy to land since you cant stop burnout before its ends itself. Many conditions have to be meet and in addition enemy can iframe that fireball. And i can bet all good players will see it coming miles away and iframe.
