I tried ita couple times like 2 rotations ago when Gen was fire with a void gem running FS/vg with a plus void DMG ring on. It was ok but I felt lack luster compared to my normal DPS.
Again, I haven’t been making fun of anyone with this post and it honestly just puts a light on the toxicity of the new world community for this level of pessimism and assuming posts looking for clarification on anything is an attack post.

No one’s being made fun for running any role that want to run, even if that’s musket/rapier in a mutation.
This thread was created because I’ve played with plenty of firestaff users claiming to be BiS and the dungeon runs are always significantly-slower, even if it’s not a Fire mutation, and I was looking to see if people have had similar experiences both in runs and with FS users confacting them confused about why they’re not getting into runs.
I think people need to be way less pessimistic on here. Kinda depressing tbh.
This.A lot of people told me to not use spear in Barnacles because its 15% less damage yet when i did a run with friends with full spear/hatchet dps we did better than having hammer/IG mage players.One guy even told me spear was trash for genesis and to stop using that.
The community definitely is spicy at times and there definitely is a lot of complaining and pessimism on these forums haha. But! We can be a great community and I just encourage trying to do your best with how you present things on the forums and be part of that positive change is all. You are a high tier paladin and I think people look to you for advise and builds, so maybe I’m a little more critical of this post as a result. It’s all about bringing up the community and not calling out a user for wanting to play a firestaff in a pub M10. If that makes sense. I always caution when PVE starts to creep too much into forcing people to play a specific meta or elitism comes out. Which is pretty common in other games. Instead just changing the tone a bit.
Just seems to really feed into this is all. Again I’m more of a random pub runner and less of a more coordinated speedrunner so definitely come from a different perspective.

First of all, that firestaff is not remotely close to BIS, even for genesis.
But I have to agree, for almost every expedition the firestaff gets outshined by spear/hatchet or GA.
Sure it’s fun to finish in < 14 mins, but after speed running Gen for a while, it gets boring. So I don’t blame people for trying to run different “efficient” builds for M10s.

Fire/ice are really weak in PvE. Void can be used as a support weapon and ice is strong in barnacles and fire staff is okay in genesis. That’s about it. Meanwhile you can use the likes of GA/WH in every content

i use firestaff and hatchet both. depends on my mood. just gotta learn about builds and you can do good damage with any of them
my usual runs with my group are 10-13 minutes. average 12 minutes. with any of those weapons.
You just can’t beat the damage output in gen with grav well and great axe attacks on clumps of mobs. It just destroys them.
