Describe the issue you are experiencing: Fishing bait does not stay equipped between casts, is not consumed, and slowly gives you more bait as you fish. I went from 26 to 30 firefly bait, having to requip bait between each cast.
Is this a bug or an exploit: Bug since fish bait is worthless.
(if a bug) How did the issue effect your gameplay: Having to reequip bait between casts is very tedious in an already tedious activity.

All the other bugs that I’ve encountered thus far are being reported, so I saw no point in dog-piling onto the hundreds of reports already issued for them. I never said it was game breaking or even serious, just that it’s a bug and as I would like said bug to be addressed eventually, I reported it. Thanks for reading.
It needed to be mentioned. I also was going to report it. Having your bait unequip each time significantly reduces the amount of fish you can catch during a hot spot. Bait is so cheap, duping dont matter…amount to catch does.
I can confirm this is happening. Equip bait. Fish. Bait unequips but I now have 1 more than I used to. Dont care about the dupe but the unequipping is super annoying.
i am also having this issue and was going to report this. fishing is one of my favorite things to do in new world and with this bug i just dont care to equip my bait for every single cast. fishing is already meticulous. its very sad that its to a point where its broken and virtually unplayable
What I wonder is does the bait even work? We see it unequipped after catching a fish, but what if the game unequips it before or during casting? Which would explain why bait is still in inventory, bcz it was never used… I can’t really say if the fish is better with or without.
Heh, I reported the unequipping bait and didn’t even notice a change in bait pile sizes. Good to know that I might have been compensated 2 glow worms before I got disgusted and went to bed since Laz was busted, crafting was busted, selling on the tp was busted, etc.
Third aptitude cache is still not being awarded, so we can call the bait from this what we would have gotten from that
When fishing outside of a hotspot, fish bite much quicker when using bait. I tested fishing both without and with bait, and having bait still seemed to make the fish bite faster. To me, that implies the bait itself still works.
