Shout out to all fine Fishermen of Aeternum. I’ve lately been trying to level up my fishing skills and although half way (103), there are few improvements I would like to suggest in the forum and would love those who enjoy fishing to share their ideas, suggestions, recommendations to improve even further this department. Some of the points I already made below might not be of everyone’s preference or might, however, the goal is to have a good start of discussion and share some helpful great ideas so NW DEV team can take and use some of the ideas from us all. Everyone’s welcome! I will gather all ideas together from fb NW group as well from everyone’s recommendations, and update this post as we go, so everything is consolidated in one single post. So, keep coming back to check what new ideas have been added.
A greater variation to fishing clothing (Fisherman legendary outfits)
A way to sort between bait and different fishes. At the moment they are all displayed in the same category and is confusing. Perhaps sort by weight as well?
Introduction to fishing competitions among players with leader board.
Introduction of sea monsters and team of 3 or 5 players working together to catch / kill it, like dungeons but sea / coast version / out doors / open space.
Currently any fish my friends or any other player catch, it doesn’t show the type of fish being pulled out. Only individual players see their own catch. It would be great to watch my fella fisherman standing next and see what he just pulled out of the water and vice versa. This highly encourages interaction among players in the area as well.
Can we add a soft splash sound of when the bait hits the water, just those tiny details to make it more believable.
Adding a final bonus to fishing at 300 focus
A fishing journal that tracks the largest size of each fish
Fish swims in different directions randomly.
Line minigame shows as 4-directions where you have to pull to the opposite where fish pull.
Line tension matching Fish Pull tension to keep it or: either the Fish escapes or Line breaks.
Line breaking penalty: Durability chunk lost.
More fishing hotspots and more salvaging resource for higher tiered items

Pulling a treasure chest out of the water should feel a little more grand. (Wider loot drop table, like recipes, gear drops, better gems, infused heal pots, ect.). Small percent chances as well at legendary equipment, components, and rare furnishings like fish bowl would be really neat. Make fishing actually worth while for people and everyone will be doing it.
Fishing expedition in the next land expansion
Add a fishing village spot that hosts competitions, also to give fisherman a place to hangout.
Fishing mods so we can make bis fishing poles and gear would be sweet.
Treasures from the salty / fresh water chests are underwhelming, need some quality improvements on the outcome.
Extend fishing period to legit fella Fishermen to avoid ban or be confused by the system as bot. Any other possible way so we won’t get banned. I sure don’t want to get banned by fishing after spending 1300+ hours in the game and still rolling.

Adding a final bonus to fishing at 300 focus would be nice also. The fishing rewards stop at 250 and every other gathering bonus in the other attributes has a great boon at 300.
More fishing hotspots and more salvaging resource for higher tiered items. It feels absolutely horrible that when I salvage my 10x large dragon fish and don’t even get half of the jaws, or the toxins from stingrays. Make it viable for potion making and not just spamming low level ingredients.

So many replies like this and nothing ever gets addressed unless it’s pvp based. I appreciate that you can only forward it to the dev team but they seem to never listen to the pve side of the game. This is a very valid thread to those of us who spend a lot of time in the game farming but I can confidently predict that no dev will ever respond to it.
Day/Night time bonuses are silly and need to be consolidated. I craft a fishing rod it shouldn’t only be good half the time. Could maybe say the same for fresh/saltwater bonuses but I dunno.
I completely understand your point but we also need to understand the game developers side. They have limited development resources and the game is losing players daily. They need to focus on big changes to attract more players and stabilize the game. Only then they’ll be able to start adding these cool little features to the game. Besides I think (anecdotal evidence here, since I don’t have any numbers) fishing is a niche gameplay so it might not be financially worth it to invest too much resources on it.
I hope I’m wrong though, since these ideas are super cool.
It’s only a niche part because they made it a slog to level with almost zero rewards. My and many other suggestions in this thread would change fishing into a very fun part of the game which would in turn retain players.
I’d love to see some fishing-related loot in the Fishing Chests. The small clutch of gems and jewelry metals seem very underwhelming. Compared to what I harvest from metal nodes, it’s very much a “meh, what’s the point??” experience.
