Fishing (Quality of Life)

  1. Never alter aiming via any presentation. Ever.

  2. Fishing is very tedious. Increase skill gain at 300% and we can start negotiating reward.|}

  3. Ware (duration) is far too high on fishing poles when compare to all other weapons/tools.

Fishing can be done anywhere, with no bait whatsoever if you don’t feel like it. Skinning requires killing stuff and harvesting and mining require farm routes. It makes sense it would be slower being that it’s so accessible.
In fact, fishing is the only skill so far that I feel like has leveled at a reasonable rate when you consider that one player can max everything.
As payment for the ability to learn every craft, leveling SHOULD take much longer than most of them currently do. I wish more stuff was like fishing so that we actually had to invest time into just a couple skills.

That said, yeah never touch my camera angle ever just for me to grab a snail out of the water

Every other skill is much easier to level by running around and playing the game. Fishing is a focused effort that is very tedious.

A focused effort, yes, but one that can be leveled to 200 standing in place and absolutely never exploring or having to fight a mob or compete with another player for a node. Heck, a good chunk of towns have fishable water, you can fish from absolute sanctuary-level safety.

So your argument is that you disagree and should detract for fixes that would benefit both? troll…

The reason fishing feels tedious to level is the lack of tangible reward. As you level, you unlock hotspots, which make it easier to catch the same fish you could have caught at level 1. But these are pre-determined hotspots, meaning you may not even be in the zones to take advantage of the new hotspots.

Imagine mining used the same feature. You can mine every node at level 1, but at level 50 you add three nodes in Windward and one in Ebonscale Reach to your map, and get a 5% luck boost & 5% gather speed increase on those nodes only. Also, those unlocked ‘bonus’ nodes aren’t specified until you walk past them again, so you either need to happen upon them or look up which nodes have been ‘bonused’ and specifically go there. That’s…maybe helpful, but not really any benefit over just continuing to farm the nodes you know are in the zone you’re working out of.

I don’t think increasing fishing xp gain will fix that, it just means you can get to 200 for bragging rights faster. There needs to be proper milestone rewards like other gathering skills so you feel rewarded for getting to 50/100/whatever.

The stupid camera swing ‘flourish’ should definitely be togglable though. I said it in prior builds and I’ll say it again: having to force your camera into an awkward top-down angle, or be super-speedy clicking after completing a reel-in, in order to avoid the camera swooping out of position every time you get a snail is aggravating and completely needless.

I’m absolutely saying I disagree, and that changing the XP rate isn’t a “fix” at all. Goju hit some good points about how rewarding fishing might not feels, but the fact that you feel it’s slow is, to me, because the others feel too fast. Once you hit 60 and 200 in a few skills (if you haven’t already) and realize how worthless all of your profession stuff is because literally anyone else can also obtain or make them, maybe then you’ll understand.

Skills currently level way too quickly and fishing, to me, is the only pace that feels perfect.
