I have been unable to find an answer to my question on the net or by shouting out in game, any help would be appreciated.
-When fishing at a hot spot, if I break my line instead of reel something in, does it still deplete the node/hot spot by 1quantity? I am getting SO many treasure chests at rare and secret fishing spots when I would rather actually be catching rare fish. I finish a few hotspots with like 20-30 chests on me, I just want the fish! The chests are nice, but not in this quantity. If breaking my line rather than reeling in yet another chest is a possibility though, then everything would be fine.
It happens at rare(two stars) and secret(three stars hotspots. As I am typing, I have 20 chests on my from completing one rare spot and I am partially through a secret spot. I have not noticed it being an issue at broad(one star) hot spots. I don’t know how big a part to play fishing level is but I am 200 in fishing. Also no, not just one spot or region of the world. I have this “issue” at every rare and secret spot.
I haven’t fished since the patch, so I can’t say if the line snapping currently uses one of your spawns from a hot-spot, but I can tell you that 3 star hot-spots provide 10 fish, every time (unless there is another secret change, but it seems they aren’t doing anything to fishing these days.) So, you can test it by fishing alone at a 3 star hot-spot and breaking the line once and counting fish you catch before the hot-spot goes on cooldown.
I did fishing 155-200 over two days all in hotspots, the result was around 80 fish and over 300 chests. Chests give good xp and easy to bring in, but after 200, I was like dammit another one? Wanna know the real kicker? Everything from those 355 fishing chests yielded no more than jewelcrafting 155-157, before the nerf. I can still taste vomit in my mouth.
If chests still had gold in them, I don’t think this would be a problem. Unfortunately, the gold isn’t coming back and I don’t think fishing will get any changes anytime soon. The community manager whose introduction says fishing is their jam didn’t even bother to respond to the current fishing issues when pinged and none of the problems are on the known bugs list last I checked. Fishing has been cast aside for now.
What really blows my mind, is that we just got a fishing skin set as a Twitch drop, but none of the problems with fish have been acknowledged.
