Fix resources on Compass now that Overwolf doesnt work

Thanks to AGS for making my immersion in this game non-existent and once again tedious. Im back to having the Resources website open on 1 monitor and opening my map every 5 seconds to ping the same nodes over and over and over (this is not exploring a map, I literally loop around the same resources for hours/days to satisfy the ridiculous grind that you have applied to level trades).
So my request now that you have ruined another program (Overwolf add-on for NW), please FINALLY fix the compass. I can literally be standing on top of various resources and the compass doesnt display them (yes I am at the required level for them to appear, sometimes they do sometimes they dont).
You guys really need to be putting energy/time into fixing bugs/exploits and server merges. Why you are even spending 1 minute wasting time liaising with the Overwolf team baffles me (its a non-issue compared to the problems in this game), dont get me started on the time/energy recently put into ā€œbalancingā€ weapons which ultimately lead to more bugs than at release.
As mentioned, all AGS sub-departments should be working on bugs, exploits, server merges - we cant afford to lose more players! There are almost more bots than players.
Look forward to seeing the compass working and server merges at the next patch release.

Compas should be disabled to encourage exploration.
This game has so much babysitting, no wonder there’s no competition on the trading post.

I’m glad they blocked that minimap addon, whatever it was called. As someone who played the game in it’s vanilla form, I think it was unfair and a way to bring cheats into the game.

Exploring the map is going into the same area to farm iron, then starmetal, then orachalcum, then wyrdwood, then ironwood etc for days and days and days to level trades?
Exploring a map is going into new areas to find cool new stuff…
The mini map made gathering less tedious so we had time to explore. We essentially do the same thing with the resources website open on a second monitor, dont see the difference apart from having to press M every 1 minute now. Makes gameplay shyte.

You have been farming the same nodes for how long?
You still can’t remember where they are?

Can wholeheartedly confirm this. The compass works one minute then not the other. Sometimes it shows herbs but not ore and vice versa. Sometimes it doesn’t show anything. In particularly hairy scenarios in reakwater and other tough areas the animals don’t show up and you end up mounting a rather displeased wolf.

I know the loops i do, but the very fine detail on say an oil node location hidden in the grass or water edge would be nice to see on the compass. I can literally stand on them and 50% of the time the compass doesnt register them.

Tbh I can roam in WIndsward without a map. After so many hours, I know most of it and no silly addon will take that away from me. I still discover new details in the level design and it feels great this way.
Addons simplfy the game to the point it gets ruined, and I think NW is better off without them.

I get your point. My point was, the compass works ā€˜sometimes’. People are using a work-around because of this. If they are going to disable an add-on which they formally have said is not ā€œillegalā€ to use, then they need to fix their own stuff.

you DO realize that there are bots running from node to node 24/7 and AGS doesnt do anything against it?
i reported a bot 3 weeks ago. 1 week later i even made a proof video about it and added the link to it into 1: the report, 2: a forum post in this forum and 3: a support ticket (wich received a copy past answer).
at this state of the game i have to assume that botting is allowed if bots go unpunished after thousands of reports, proofs and tickets. and you care about the compass babysitting players?^^
PS: the bot is still running around in this very second, destroying our economy. but sure, its the compasses fault^^

Nope. I care about the high number of bots etc. I think you are saying the same thing as me.
Why energy/time is put into having meetings with Overwolf to disable features baffles me. This is low priority compared to other issues.

Sorry, just noted that this wasnt a reply to me lol

Addons can have updates to the point where they start to break the game rules. Maybe it will help you find resources at first. Then it will give you exact respawn timers. Then it will track players and so on. It will then become a requirement for competitive gameplay and soon perform as a means to cheat the game and gain unfair advantages.

So if there are bots, as you claim, does that mean AGS should allow any form of cheating into the game? I think not.
Your complaint is off-topic here and has nothing to do with addons.

I dont care about any of the other stuff that could significantly benefit a player to the point where gameplay between players is not the same. I just want resources to appear on my compass. They currently do not regularly. To fix this issue myself, I used Overwolf and/or the resources map website to ping my loops.
The smarter thing to do would have been to have Overwolf only display items which you have discovered (it is linked so this can work), ie what would only be on your compass. Or smarter again, make the compass work so i dont need to use Overwolf.

you claimed that its the compass / addons that destroy the ecomomy. i said that youre wrong, because its the bots.
i think the minimap is a great addition, im just sad that icons and routes got removed.
it would be much better if they can be readded manually by finding said ressources (the character takes notes about where to find specific resources) and you can make your own routes, wich is 100% impossible in the game right now, but would be realistic in terms of exploration. i mean, they even could add a new skill based of that: Cartography.

Indeed, except it makes no sense.
And that’s because not all of us are at only 50 armoring and only need to remember where to find iron.
Also… there’s so many types of resources to grind, so many spots, that there’s no way to remember every farm path(unless you really are stuck at either a single profession, or low lvl professions)… and the paths that are easier to remember are usually the most contested, and if your route is contested, you gotta find another one. Are you gonna remember that new one as well?

The way some people say stuff like this without even realizing what it means to actively grind for mats and professions, quite honestly baffles me.

(and another one)

After so many hours, I know most of it and no silly addon will take that away from me. I still discover new details in the level design and it feels great this way.

You do you buddy. I don’t particularly care about how you feel about a certain rock you found in ww or whatever.
What I DO care about, is what affects ME… like having to sink dozens of hours into just looking for raw materials for professions, and having the only thing that makes it a bit more bearable deactivated, because people that don’t need it, feel like something they don’t use ā€œruins their immersionā€ because others use it. Do note the quotes. Nobody in their right mind would say that and believe it. Especially since having to open the map repeatedly ruins the immersion alot more, or having to ā€œscanā€ sideways all the time just hoping the compass might treat you to an ore location every once in a while.

And again, if the compass worked, maybe the minimap wouldn’t be a thing. Or at least, not this big of a deal.
A single one of these minimaps has more downloads than there are actual players of the game right now. We’re not talking about an old game that has been running for quite a while, and an addon that was used by all kinds of players, including being redownloaded by ā€œreturning playersā€, oh no. We’re talking about a 2 months old game, running from one bad decision to another.
This should give you a rough estimation of whether or not the minimap was actually useful in the game(since, you know, games are made for players, not for the ego of someone who decided a compass is best and would rather lose players than rethink a bad decision)

Don’t hold your breath, they’re on holiday till next week.

tl;dr

It’s fine m8.
People that share your opinion about how minimap isn’t needed are not typical examples of people that can comprehend much, or are capable of intelligent arguments.

Here’s a picture of glowy rocks on other rocks. Maybe this will keep you entertained
