I’ve seen a few buy orders for several thousand items for well under what sell order prices are. I sometimes use them to dump stuff I don’t think has a chance in hell at selling at the sell order prices and I don’t want to guess where the actual sell price might be. I’ve wondered what they were going to do if they did manage to fill their entire buy order. No way they could hold it. Now I think I know.
A 2nd account that is used in part to just buy whatever can be bought for .01 or .02 hoping prices might some time increase or otherwise phish for bargains. Also can be used to store some higher tier items for later use without tying up inventory.
I think the terse, almost curt, response from support indicates this was not intended. Sitting a character in front of a trader for effectively infinite storage whether it is a 2nd legitimate account or not is not how they envisioned the game being played.
If AGS wasn’t aware this was happening they are now. We can probably expect a fix soon. It won’t be a pretty fix nor a popular one as in all likelihood what we are looking at is more restrictions for all players to deal with a few.
Might come to pass we have to designate one storage shed as an overflow shed and can only post stuff in the trader that will fit in overflow if it doesn’t sell. Then no matter what trader it is in if no sale is made it goes to your overflow shed in whatever settlement you designated.
I’m curious as well. Muling is usually a grey area, most companies will not explicity prevent people from buying more copies of their games. It’s the way they exploit the system by throwing stuff on the ah, then receive more stuff from their main that could be an issue.

Comedy gold. You knew you were abusing an area of the game for which it was hard to come up with a good mechanism and that this could be fixed by Amazon at any time in the future rendering your trick useless and possibly resulting in the loss of the items.
Yeah bank alts using the storage available to one character. He used a trick to gain many times the storage available to one character and knew it could be fixed or changed at any time, possibly leaving his inventory with no place to go. And it happened. Cry me a river.
I knew it could change but what no one knew was about all the different caps on weight (like you can only put down so much) or that they would make it so you couldn’t trade…
If they don’t want this type of play then put a cap on how much weight a character can hold. But they didn’t do that, all they did was make it so you had to be level 10 to trade or use the market.
They could cap how much a character can hold and just delete the items over that limit if they get dumped by the AH. They could decide to do that at any time and maybe they should. You were trying a trick, counting on things not changing in a way that broke your trick, and the bet didn’t work out.
I think you should definitely do the genius move and put all your wealth into flint and water on an alt character and count on them not implementing some fix to people taking advantage of incomplete game mechanics.
