i know a shit ton of ppl that were interested in NW up to the point when they removed forced pvp and full loot. there are many ppl who didnt buy the game BECAUSE of the switch.
also heh, the crafting system is in no way innovative, new or even remotely fun. tho thats the case 99% of the time in games. Mortal Online probably beeing the only exception here.
the leveling process however… i mean… its the most generic boring repetitive placebo shit ie ever seen. literally the same 3 quests over and over and over.
exploration… yea, i mean it aint awful, lets put it that way. but what is there really to find if you´re beeing honest. a few nice vistas sure but gameplay related? not all that much.
and regarding the pvp i dno wtf they are doing but it was more responsive and less laggy during beta and at launch than it is now.
Regarding the responsiveness it was better during beta and at launch for sure.
I do not say that anything is innovative regarding the lvl up but personally i did enjoy it same as crafting and gathering. Things usually i do not enjoy in games.
I am no so sure that if it stayed that way the game could attract the sales it did.
yea ppl also write up stories about groups of 20 lvl 60´s hunting down lowbies in the game right now. yet it never happens. its simply a lie. carebears will come up with all kinds of bullshit when they fear their candyland to be in danger…
My 2 million friends didnt buy the game because of too much pvp, and they are all big whales in ingame shops. Has about as much credibility as another person saying a shit ton of ppl did not buy due to no full loot pvp. The people that like full loot pvp are a subset ( mmorpg players) of a subset (pvp players ) of gamers. History and statistics rule, not what me or you percieve of the situation. But as it stands now, they might aswell put full loot pvp on and salvage the ~10-50k players that will be left
Honestly I just turn it off and go right back if someone is trying to push me off of my farming spot. World PvP is still a waste of time. They added incentive to flagging but no incentive to actually spending time engaging in World PvP.
Note: I’m not anti-PvP. I do as much war and Outpost Rush as I can because both of those have high incentives.
You know what’s better than flagging for pvp? Not flagging for pvp, and watching two people metaphorically trade kicking each other in the dick while you harvest the orichalcum.
You made a sarcastic comment above… someone else replied to it with a different opinion. You asked them to prove their opinion and then chastised them when they gave you ballpark figures.
What’s funny is… it all started from your comment (opinion), which didn’t provide any validation of it’s own. So… maybe you can go a little easier on others and just expect the same from them that you put out yourself.
Flagged Luck Bonus definitely helped the feel of openworld by increasing pvp encounters but it still doesnt fix the broken combat mechanics the devs continue to ignore.
Chests are still not working properly with it being like 70% working and the other 30% being nerfed loot like 3 Yeast from a t5 Provisioning Stockpile. I did enjoy the legendary crafting component i got from a miniboss today that crafts a 600gs lifestaff wtihout the Blessed trait, making it completely useless. I also like how all the previous legendary crafting schematics got downgraded to epic while requiring legendary craft mods.
Many pvers aren’t interested in signing up to be possibly attacked. Just the idea/possibility is repellent to them.
Then some servers have actively more aggressive or trollish people. This system increases their power and ability to screw others.
that said, you are right, Pointless conflict is not productive, and most gatherers goal is productivity, Reasonable people on the whole should not choose violence and generally have a bit of empathy.
However, this creates a dilemma, in many cases it isn’t actually promoting pvp, but it is negatively effecting those who hate random pvp. It also means if they ever actually make fighting rewarding, those interested in fighting will be creating bad interactions with those not interested in fighting, but only interested in the bonus.
humans make the best of the systems in place to achieve their goals, but that doesnt mean its a good system, or that it won’t create more problems than it solves in the long run
