Dude. It doesn’t get back crits, it does proc shirking, and it can in fact be blocked for very little stamina damage. Maybe form an opinion only after understanding the mechanics of a skill? ![]()
Guess ive never noticed it proc shirking, can be blocked with a shield which i dont have and dont use so i wouldn’t know that. I assumed back crits cause after ive turned and given my back to a throw i was insta dropped before i could get out. Granted i assume folks build it differently in 3s. Still dont like the ability to recast it lol. I dont know everything about the game and learn some of it from things like this.
And i will test the shirking piece.
Also, i tried to look up other posts on the topic prior to opening this one, didnt see them then but finding a few that definitely agree the ability to infinitely roll and reuse is pretty broken and they more eloquently say why.
Either way the issue is not the damage it does its just all the combos of light armor with shirking procs for when they dodge and that all getting added to no cd when they exit the roll.

While I generally agree that FT is a bit on the OP side, it does have a weakness: Right after starting, there’s a window of roughly 1 sec where the FT can’t dodge cancel yet. Try to line up staggers/roots so they hit in that timeframe

Yet you have not once addressed the actual issue. When you attempted to, you brought up a whole bunch of things that got nerfed. Trying to see your point but its pretty hard since you just complain about the post but dont give any actual feedback or decent justification why flamethrower should be able to not go on cd when someone rolls.
I did not mention any nerf, i mentioned every single situation cry babies use to fall on. You want an answer about why flamethrower shall stay at is It untill they completely remake fs skill three? Take a chair :
- is considered a range class when its not, every other range class Will melt down a mage in terms of damage/range/movility.
- Passives incentive em to run a crit build, but developers fighting against this idea. Leading em on a huge loose of burst on a burst meta
- The most predictable weapon on Game, again due to the weird and arcaic skill animations.
- The only way a FS can fight back a melee is using this braindead skill that seens to bother you. This skill has less damage per second than any other mele weapon, yet its a melee skill without grit.
Remake everything from 1 to 4 then your tears about this useless skill could even be considered valid. Right now if u cant kill a flame mage means Hes way a lot better than you. Agree or disagree i dont care, Who ever looses 1v1 right now against an undertuned weapon shall better study himself and not open posts asking for a review on this skill.

Lol, you compaired it earlier to other things that have been nerfed as a way to attempt a defense. Yet again you are not addressing the no cool down aspect and ability to just constantly roll and recast.
Any decent fire mage can legit just kite a medium or heavy build. Understanding this is a weakness either medium or heavy build takes is fair to say and understood.
I would argue hammer is the most predictable weapon in the game followed by a few of the other melee weapons. Given that, if i go to shockwave or wreckingball, the mage simply dodges or walk backwards with haste mind you, recasts and can do this for every cc thrown all while recasting the same ability. Might have more issues with a dex user or light melee build.
While i somewhat agree with the issues you brought up for firestaff in general, that doesnt mean the way flamethrower doesnt go on cool down is ok. Should they rework firestaff, yes, but they definitely should not allow it to just be recast continuously after a dodge. Or if you want that part to stay, let melee dodge cancel out of abilities as well.
Lastly go look up some vids on youtube of firestaff users gameplay. They melt people, roll, have multiple escapes and can do a ton of damage.
Will say too, i get it shouldnt change without other things changing as well, to me this is just one thing on the list of many ags should rework or fix.
FS has the worst kite in the game. Medium/heavy melee just left click with SnS or Greatsword and the mage in light cant escape. If the Mage want to use Burnout, melee use just one of the many many stagger/stuns and keep left clicking. Easy as it is. To able to kite the mage have to use rapier/BB/IG. But melee have the better gap close and stun/stagger.
If you Lose against a mage the mage is just a way better player. Thats a fact.
And you rlly want to prove your point with youtube Highlight videos… great idea. Watch melee boys videos and say it again… thats a clown argument.
arena is getting a little to populated with the FT lately and bad players are using it. keep getting team mates just holding down LMB even if you or your other team mate shield bashes, riposte or shockwaves a enemy they just keep holding that button down and waking everyone up. you could be staring at a stunned person and charging a heavy attack and your fire boy walks over and does flame thrower… toss that in with ice pylon and ice storm waking everything up and its a god damn mess in arena atleast

I was looking atuff up about fs builds to be honest, just to see how folks built and played it differently. I know the other guy said something about that too, yes most are highlight reels or they wouldnt get views.

You’re doing a lot of generalization there about melee. I also hope you understand a majority of melee ccs are blockable. Sns you literally can block every one. Also, most ccs are highly readable and can be dodged easily in light. If the melee is running light then i can see your point and more so if they are using two weapons with a movement ability.
Thats the real problem bud, AGS time to time hear us, so its our responsability to do a proper post thinking in as many factors as possible.
FT is also blockable.
So no stamina to dodge, fast stagger/stun that is hard to dodge.
U just talk about hammer at this point. SnS/GS/Spear/GA all have fast stagger skills.
Hit a light armor user once with a melee weapon and the have to dopple dodge to get out of your light attack range.
If melee is running light armor they out dmg FT by far in terms of dps with just a left click spam. If melee is running medium the mage does freaking low dmg and FT hit for like 500 dmg per tick…
If you really think FT is a problem you are doing something wrong.
And if you run GA/Hammer (gravity, maelstrom / shockvwave) and think you should just face roll other players in a duel with a war / clumbfight build you dont understand pvp.
I think its closer to 800 on average per tick. But if they use dust T5 its like 450-500 per tick yea.
