If there’s 0.5% chance that I get a trophy, and I have +50% luck, I would expect that I now have 0.75% chance at getting a trophy. I wouldn’t expect to have 50% of the max roll added to my roll…
I dont mind the fact it works like how it does, If i want " Timeskeeper Sword" from Leviathan, Then i will wear luck gear and farm him to “ANY” varient drops thats above 590. Then just upgrade with Umbrals to 600. (As i will be doing with Will Of Ancients & Infamy.)
Although i do have a problem of how little the information required to get Trophy Mats is. Regarding that there should be a “BadLuck” system where as everytime you open a chest you get 0.05% perma increase to your luck to roll into the high tier table, Once you do then it resets. This way its like saying “We see yous spending Hours running trophy runs in Reek/SM/Ebon. Keep at it your reaching a guareenteed drop in that table” But instead we spend hours and hours on pure RNG with a 0.75% was it? chance of getting a trophy drop. Also the fact that they wont tell us if Combat Trophy Mats are influenced by Luck when killing mobs. (Ancient Mandable/ Corrupted Totem)
Those items are marked LuckSafe and you have a locked in 1/500 chance to get one every time you kill the associated mob.
If you didn’t read the whole thing, here’s the part most of you are after:
non-combat Trophy mats are only found supply stockpiles/ancient chests. Long story short: there is a 25% chance (unaffected by luck) to hit the sub table (ContainerLootLargeExtra ) that points at the Trophy artifacts bucket, and a .5% chance to get a trophy artifact, (99500), but that table is affected by luck, so take whatever your luck % is, divide it by 40, and thats how much more likely you are to get trophy mats from supply stockpiles and ancient chests in an area with high enough levels to drop them (35/55)
First, you have a 25% chance, unaffected by Luck at all, to hit the right subtable and only a .5% chance to get the trophy from that subtable.
So at +50% Luck / 40 you get 1.25% higher chance to get Trophy Mats from Ancient Chests and Stockpiles ONLY on that subtable.
Clever marketing will say that going from a 0.125% chance at a trophy mat to a 1.375% Is an 1100% increase in your chances, despite going from almost no chance, to barely any chance at all.
As Lux mentioned, this is getting the attention you’re looking for. Reminder that weekends do exist too
and it’s obvious that the explanation that was shared during the dev video wasn’t enough so the team will need to formulate a better way to express luck to you. Thank you for your patience!!!
The dev video about luck was a joke. We’ve got a better explanation about luck in a dev-corner couple of months ago. You put a “handsome guy” to bulshiting.
We need real answers and real solutions. You said about transparency in dev video, but I can’t see any actions about that.
If they lower ROL values on all 99.5k items to 95k these threads wouldnt be as common. Js. ![]()
Also, why is 1% luck = to 100 ROL value when 1% of 100k is 1k?
Is that on purpose or was it an unintentional nerf from the elite zone nerf back in fall?
It killed trophy mats. I really don’t think trophy mats are supposed to be this hard to acquire.
This game is a design nightmare loaded with non-logic and non-organic mechanisms. Luck Is One of them. No doubt that remained devs didn’t remember well how it work lol.
So we don’t know… and even if we do know except the luck part there is also the chance of that loot to happend… i have pushed my luck to the extreme and the only difference i found was that the expedition drops weren’t totally garbage… for trophys ect. i spend yesterday more than 7 hours in Ebonscale, reekwater, morningdale, Edengrove and SM and not a single trophy, i loot chest all the chests of the wolrd more than once before i quit for the day.
I wear full t5 luck grear with t5 pearls and weapons with t5 Pearl’s and my bugs all 3 have luck and also 2 basic loot luck trophies and one minnor. my opinion is that luck, chance and fun dont work together in this game… sad… very…
Just please try to encourage them to at least just have someone take a little time out of their day to come and make a post on the forums (or something regarding) clarification on this question.
I understand they are super busy, but we really shouldn’t need to wait weeks to get an answer on how a simple game mechanic works in the next developer update video or whatever.
What better way to express luck than just to answer the questions? lol
The challenge is that the mechanic is definitely not simple, and the audience for their explanation ranges from casual players who might have a passing interest, and ultimate optimizers that want to know, with certainty, what exactly is happening.
Balancing that isn’t easy. And the deep details that the latter group hopes for is not best conveyed in a video format. Its a lot of data, and a lot of information. I look forward to the blog post.
didn’t seem all that complicated from a conceptual point
Open box > roll a dice add your luck score > see which bucket (buckets) you hit. > roll again inside those buckets for the actual item you will get (items) > give you the things.
the real question is where does luck apply between those points. (and if pearls screw it up or if there is actually a sweet spot and what all those other tags like luck safe does)
If they’re going to fix luck or make trophy quests, they should announce it long before the implimentation or they’re gonna make people mad. Lol.
probably but at the same time if they do announce it those in the know will try and dump/buy out the mats and make money off those that arent on here 24.7 thats also a matter of communication and transparency they need to deal with.
one way or another some group of people will get screwed.
Yeah, hence the second they even think of making trophies easier to acquire, announce it so people are pre warned but it’s not next week they’ll be easier.
I’d also love to see a loot table for certain spots tiered chests so we can be more specific about rolling into areas like a roulette table lol.
…to clarify my previous post…
I’m wondering if maxing your luck gives a lower chance at rolling mid tier items like an armored journal versus a stacked deck? Or are both of those items set above 99.5k and then - random roll after that?
I don’t know why people keep falling for this. You cannot measure luck, therefore you cannot implement luck in a game.
There’s no way to measure if it works, because you could have just been “lucky”.
There’s no way to measure if it does not work, because you could just have been “unlucky”.
Luck as a stat on game items has no place in a game.
