Forts are locked too much

It’s 5 am. There is a war scheduled at 8pm for today in first light. Why is the fort locked when the war is 15 hours away? Isn’t that a little over the top? Locking fairly important bonuses for days at a time? What does it accomplish? Other than piss people off cuz they cant take the fort all day.

Hello Teamtom, since your thread is in English, I’m moving it from the French “Retours et suggestions” section to the English “Game Feedback” section.

I am still trying to think like them, but i don t success at it. I don t understand a single decision they ve made ! make me sick and i am gonna go at hospital if it s continue :frowning:

All their decision came from another world another dimension, not MMORPG dimension for sure.

Locked forts make sense. Its a benefit reward for strategically apturing it prior to declarations or invasions.

If it just flipped on a whim the individuals capping would have no time to enjoy benefits.

Okay. Then if they are going to lock, why not at least have a timer stating when that lock will happen. Instead of randomly happening

and they don’t need to be locked for 24+ hours at a time. That is just bogus and wrong

AGS should input war fatique on wars.

Its not random…

They lock when war is declared until the war is over.

They lock when an invasion is declared and unlock after.

You can see influence bars for war and get a notice when war can and is declared.

Invasions occur after a territory reaches the 3 corruption icon status not sure what to call this. On the map you get 1, then 2 then 3 corruption symbols as corruption grows in a territory. A while after reaching 3 an invasion is declared.

If a war is pending or an invasion the others activity is delayed untill the first is resolved.

Fort locking should not be a thing anymore with them instancing Wars, if I am not mistaken. They had to shelve that idea for a minute while they fixed war instancing (fixed in the patch yesterday 1.6.5). I will try to keep my eyes glued on whether or not that is the case.

If the lengthy 24-48 hours locks are a thing of the past now, the Devs ought to do some brief fort lock events to revitalize open world PvP and give an incentive to cap forts every couple of hours. Flipping the forts every 10 minutes isn’t fun, but if there is some sort of culmination of PvP activity they can create in the Forts, then that would be an exceptional change. Hoping to hear more about this soon.

I disagree, but only because the buffs themselves are specific to what they offer. It doesn’t make sense to expect a segment of players to defend and hold a fort while others go benefit from the reward. However, I have an idea that might solve the problem.

I am thinking about Onyxia and Nefarian buffs in World of Warcraft. When the raid boss was killed it dropped a head and when you turned in that head in Stormwind everyone in Stormwind got a 2 hour buff or it might of been 4 hours.

  • When a fort is captured have some mechanism that some of those who participated get an item they turn in to any faction representative in a territory that their faction controls.
  • When they turn the item in they get factoin tokens and gold.
    • Additionally, everyone who is the same faction as that player who is in the same territory at the time the item is turned in gains a 4 hour buff that is determined by the item turned in.
      • Each fort would award it’s own item so you would have a different buff associated with it.

I would propose that if this was introduced that once a fort is captured it remains locked for 2 hours to that faction.

I agree that forts are locked too much. I think First Light is only unlocked a couple of days per week. Then while it’s unlocked it’s getting flipped every 30 minutes. I’d rather the forts only be locked for a short period of time (hours) after being captured and that’s it. No more locking for wars and invasions.

This is pretty much what I am in favor of. Offer better fort capture bonuses for starters, make the lock events rotate on an approximate 2 hour basis to keep people active while offering enough time to reap the benefits, and offer some sort of participatory/consolation reward for getting into the scrums.

(Bit of a diatribe) but seeing as to how they still have not found a way to properly reward drops via player kills nearly a year later, the Fort deal should be a nice addition in lieu of such a long-awaited, highly desired update to Open World PvP. Just like how nobody wanted to run expeditions when you were getting 500 GS drops all day long, nobody should reasonably be happy with 500 GS drops from open world PvP kills. It is a huge turn off and needs to be resolved very soon.

Fort lock should be gone with the return of instanced wars, should hopefully be more fights for the good ones :revolving_hearts:
