Fair enough, I assumed you felt the discord was going to solve the problems you have with the forums based on your reponse above.
If I had to moderate these forums, I would want them shut down too

Good for you. Go join the discord if you don’t like that people don’t like the forums are being shut down. Nothing stopping you. Go have fun trying to read that unorganized mess with 1000’s of comments over 3 generic topics.
Definitely a serious and foolish mistake, a decision probably made by your Community Manager.
This forum is based on Discourse, arguably the best forum development for modern times, the new generation of communities.
Although Discord is an excellent platform, with many innovations, Discourse focuses on what it does best, maintaining an orderly, efficient and highly responsive community.
It would be very good to review this bad decision, please.
They are making a very serious mistake (unless they are doing it with dark intentions…)

To be clear: I dont participate in the Discord either, since Discord discussions get really messy and hard to follow
Reddit will do just fine.

I like reddit nw forum as well. It use to be completely toxic a year ago, but is pretty good these days.

Generally not a fan of reddit but maybe I will check it out. Discord is a definite no.
This is spot on…my participation will drop precipitously on Discord. I just don’t understand what they were thinking…kinda like Budweiser!

It’s not over until it’s over. My server is full of life at the moment. The population comes in waves with updates. I hope the devs will come up with some amazing updates so that people (myself included) will feel like they can stick around and enjoy what is a visually beautiful game.

Going to miss the forums, with their constant stream of criticisms and complaints usually founded in reality, counterbalanced by blind optimism and unrealistic superfan support.
Fortunately, Diablo 4 launches soon and I’m hoping that I can bring popcorn for a lot more of the same drama on Blizzard’s forums.

You’re creating more chaos than you ever handled on these forums by shutting it down for a New World Discord Forum outlet.

Nah… they aren’t allowing people to post their own topics. Its just some generic made topics that will have a chaotic mess of random comments. Most people won’t waste their time trying to cypher that garbage mess.
I know right! It’ll be even greater when those people who used to voice their opinions quit the game. Leaving you with only enough people to service 2 servers worldwide. Which will mostly be bots and RMTers. It’ll be super nice to have to wait 4 plus hours just to queue for any PvP or PvE group activity. All of that is great right?

I’m surprised this forum thread stayed alive, the original thread got marked invisible/unlisted right away. I’ll just say that a well-thought-out post like the OP will not be possible on discord. I do use discord for other games, and pretty much if you aren’t there when a discussion is happening, you’ve simply missed it. Discord moves so fast and it’s impossible to have a back & forth discussion about anything, unless you’re just on discord 24/7.
As for reddit, lol, it amazes me people still use it. A system in which people can downvote you simply because they disagree with you or have an axe to grind, so your ideas/thoughts may not be seen. Yeah, we’ve moved on from that design since many years ago. It’s 2023, reddit is not what a real discussion forum should be.
I think the reason they want to shutdown the forums for both NW & Lost Ark is because these forums take a lot to moderate. Needing to pay staff to moderate and post in various languages is probably something they’re looking to move away from. We all know the tech sector (including Amazon) are all laying off workers. It just may be that they see the forum as a place to cut to save money among other things.
