Freezes and lags for entire PC

I’ve only had this game the last 2 days but in that time i’ve been having a fairly decent amount of Freezes/Lags to the point where my only remedy is to manually shut down PC.

New world basically freezes to the point where it’s maybe every 20-30 seconds where the game will create a new frame and the entire PC is in the same spot, only had this happen with new world.

I’ve updated drivers and everything that is recommended and nothing has really helped.

Bit sad, thoroughly enjoying the game but can’t really play it like this.

I believe it has something to do with the CPU/GPU overheating, doesn’t happen for any other game.

Thanks for the report. I’m really sorry about the problem you’re having.

Here are some steps to try to solve the issue. We know that you already had tried some and it can be repetitive, but many other players were able to fix it after doing the steps. Please try going step by step as follows.

  • Check for pending BIOS updates.
  • Verify that the drivers are correct and up to date: New World Compatible GPU Driver Update - Support
  • Run a file check: Steam Support :: Verify Integrity of Game Files
  • Check the EAC: Locate the game directory, and then select the “EasyAntiCheat” subfolder. Click EasyAntiCheat_Setup.exe to run the installer as an administrator, fix it if necessary.
    Note: The Steam Games installation directory will generally be in: C:\Program Files\ Steam (x86)\ SteamApps\ Common
  • Avoid using VPN, and you should remove other programs such as bots to mine or fish or to avoid being AFK. (if installed for any reason) Even overlays to get unofficial maps for the game.
  • Check out New World System Requirements - Support | Amazon Games it is very important that you are using Windows 10, because for 11, New World is not yet optimized.
  • You can lower the resolution to High in the settings.
  • If running Discord, run Discord As Administrator as well.
    After all steps above:
  • Shut down the computer completely. Turn it on, then run the Steam client as administrator, Discord as Administrator and try the game again.

I know it can be frustrating, but many of the problems were solved by trying the above (you have to try it please)

So, I have done all of this and it does not guarantee it won’t happen. It does seem rather random at the moment.

It has NOTHING to do with peoples computers. They are fine. Since you guys released the patch yesterday these issues have been happening to people. Please stop being so naive. Give us a fix instead of ignoring the problem, YOU have caused.

Sorry but this is frustrating AF, it was fine before the patch rolled out on 29th. so whatever has been done there broke this for a LOT of people…

  • EAC reinstalled
  • Game completely removed and reinstalled
  • Steam client reboot
  • PC reboot
  • Latest Nvidia / Radeon drivers.

Issue persists on MULTIPLE devices.

It’s not you, it’s def. them and their servers. Whatever was done in last patch, messed it up. I have another thread open about this too: Game freezing since 29 Oct 2021

I’ve done everything and even booting it as i start the PC up (Definitely not overheating) it still happens, basically locks up the entire PC and i have to force restart.
