Would rather them focus on getting Brimstone out on the 18th so it’s released in a good state. Honestly I think it’s the release schedule that makes the most sense. People will complain no matter what in the end.
tbh fresh start should be 2 weeks behind on every patch so it doesn’t get the bugs that come with patches. lets be honest here it’s going to go to hell real quick if they don’t have a patch delay of some kind on these servers.
You can’t be hating on yaboi Demone. He’s the biggest fan of this game and a friggin poster boi. Man has only good vibes and intentions dude.
That’s not a discussion man. Why should they change it? Literally makes zero sense, you’re starting from the beginning anyway how does this affect you aside from you thinking about it? Players are so entitled its insane.
So true xD People have been literally screaming for the fresh start servers for weeks, get told the release date, still screaming. If I was a dev on this game I would have snapped at this point, like: “Okay, you guys aren’t happy either way? Lets find a compromise: We’ll just delay both Brimstone and Fresh Start Servers until you guys shut up and show a bit more appreciation!” I wouldn’t even be mad xD
Welcome to the life of a game developer. I think theyre pretty used to it. All gaming communities are impossible to please.
Fresh start servers are mainly targeted at the ones who want to come back to the game, aren’t they? Current players will just play Brimstone with their current characters until the fresh servers are released, so it makes sense to release them after the major patch just in case there are weird exploits/bugs that could chase those returnees away again.
Now the real question is whether they can actually fix any new game-breaking bugs/exploits in 2 weeks.
The thing is they dont explain why it Needs so much Time for FS Server Thats it. Im Not an expert maybe its Hard thing to do i dont Know it
and the other thing is most players only hear brimstone sands that’s the big word here
and that’s getting big media acclaim and chances are a lot of returners don’t know about any Fresh Start servers and there’s the problem, they’re missing the moment because surprise,
most of them are not in the forum and don’t inform themselves that much
They would both have bugs, never said they wouldn’t. The difference being if there is ONE exploit or dupe on the FS server, that’s going to be real, real bad… As it’s the excuse for their purpose from about 80% of players.
How’s that?
It’s bad for AGS from a marketing point of view as they will split the “hype”. And considering New World isn’t a huge game they could use all the hype they can get on one day to attract people’s attention. Additionally, people who wanted to start with brimstone sands and on fresh servers will be left confused and potentially frustrated they won’t be able to do so when they will start seeing the ads and hype about brimstone sands. And finally if the launch of brimstone sands fails due to many bugs a lot of people will think twice about even trying fresh servers regardless of the fixes that come in the meantime. The reputational damage would have already been done.
And the second reason why this is stupid is that the decision itself is AGS admitting the launch of brimstone sands is likely to be shoddy at best. They are basically telling everyone normal servers will serve as PTR 2.0 for fresh servers. How people can defend that is beyond me.
Instead what they should do is actually release brimstone sands on Nov 2 and use the two weeks to test it and fix everything they can before any release at all.
But hey, that’s just me and my 2 cents.
so easy for ags to do this just take off the quest that gives access to BS.
The update adds a new leveling experience. If they launch the fresh start BEFORE the update, it will defeat the whole purpose of the fresh start AND the new update.
If anything, I would ask that they launch both on the same day, rather than stagger it a couple weeks later. But I can understand that dropping the update first would help iron out any bugs that were missed on the PTR to make it smoother for when the flesh start does begin.
People really are something.
Fresh servers before the patch? Before the new levelling experience?
That’s just silly
Love Demone’s vibe and positivity. But he bailed on this game VERY quickly, like so many others, and will likely do the same. That is the issue I have with FS servers.
The reason MOST people quit is because there is not enough content for folks to play 4+ hours per day, which is how most folks play MMOs. And this is still true. Arenas are mediocre with one map, no MMR and no leaderboards. OPR is the same map we’ve had for over a year. World PvP is not improving. We’ve added 3 dungeons but there are still fewer than most AAA MMOs have at launch. The grind is easier, which should hopefully retain the people who bailed because of that, but unless you are super casual or war logging… you are going to quit again.
I would guess 95% of players don’t give a damn about wars or territory ownership (even most PvP players), especially since storage is linked and azoth is basically useless. They need to be pumping out OPR/Arena maps. And they need to figure out how PvE fits as well…
QoL is not going to retain people long-term. Only content will do that. And AGS cannot support a robust PvE release cadence without a sub (imo) and the community doesn’t seem to want a niche PvP game which is more likely the path to success for a game and monetization model like NW (again, imo).
As always, happy to be wrong.
100% agree
Right…release FSS before the Brimstone patch drops and they get a chance to remediate things that pop up in live before they open.
Genius. Ok well no, not really.
No thank you. They have it right already.
I agree fully with these statements.
There is a significantly larger portion of PVE players who happen to PVP and therefore don’t actually care to much about the specifics of PVP than there are PVP players who happen to PVE. This is true in most MMORPGS but poll after poll has shown it to be true especially here.
When PVP actually affected things more with territory ownership you got PVE people to care about PVP but only until they realized that without an incredible amount of energy and effort they couldn’t compete with pure PVPers. Once they realized the disparity that the combat modes bring to skilled PVPers versus your average PVEer in PVP, they all stopped caring and then AGS stripped the incentives out.
This is what you have left. The only way PVP can be recussitated really is focusing on the variations in game modes that aren’t tied to territory. Repeatable dynamic content like different opr maps, wars that aren’t wars, and meaningful rewards that are appealing to everyone.
In regards to monitization I think PVE players are just as likely to spend money on cosmetics but they aren’t releasing enough consmetics frequently enough to actually drive that I don’t think. I bet there is a high number of players buying them but they would still buy them on top of a SUB and I am not sure why they don’t charge $10 a month to sub.
The quality of players is 1000% higher in subscribed content and that barrier to entry gets rid of a lot of trolls. You lock down the forums to only paid subscribers. There’s a lot more to be said beyond just how that affects the development budget.
On top of that though - they have to stop shooting themselves in the foot. Very slow responses to only result in knee jerk like reactions that aren’t well thought out or planned. They need to invest more heavily in QA or provide some hefty incentives for PTR play one or the other. They also need to initiate a bug bounty program that pays real $$ for being the first person to report game breaking bugs and exploits.
im basically a new player, i dont have a character over lvl 20.
i’d like to start the game after the big update with other people on the same level as me, so i can see more people in the starting areas and they wouldnt feel so empty.
i dont really care if some guys dupe when the fresh start servers release, i just want to play the game earlier. my other option would be to level to 60 now and do brimstone sands, and then make a new character on fresh server release. but that doesnt make any sense.
i guess ill have to wait 3-4 weeks to play the game
I’ll advise you to wait for the fresh servers if you want the “launch day” experience with most players being at a similar level.
Exploits aren’t the only things that could be introduced when Brimstone drops. There could be nasty bugs like the one that locks your character in limbo, so it’s better that they release Brimstone and discover/fix those things before the people who want the launch experience jump in.
They could even delay it if a fix isn’t ready on time. Better to delay than release a dirty product.
