So this Saturday I wanted to do some quick SS M10s. This entire week I had only 3 runs so I wanted to make up over the weekend.

6pm
I logged in and joined a lobby, 3 DPS in it. Ok not an ideal situation, but it is what it is. So after some chat spamming by lobby maker, we got a healer after 45 minutes. 15 minutes latter healer left and of course the lobby fell apart.

7:15pm
Being stubborn to do some runs I joined 2nd lobby. 2 DPS this time so we got to spamming again. Since I knew this guy we agreed not to leave the lobby. And an about hour latter healer joined, another really cool guy. Ok, we’re moving… 30 minutes and we got another DPS. Now this absolute legend, after about 20 minutes leaves the lobby and returns as a Tank.

2 DPS, Healer and Tank. It’s perfect now, so all 4 of us hit chats yet again. Surely we’ll get DPS any moment now…

10pm
I’m sitting there, tired of spamming, not believing this go onto twitch and get depressed seeing people who have teams complaining that they “only have 25 runs per week”.

Around 11pm
Tank leaves… Healer leaves… Lobby deleted message…

Now I’ve decided to quit the game some time ago (season or not, I’m going back to POE), so I wasn’t too angry about all of this, but it got me curious. Surely the reason why I wasted 5 hours sitting in town is because of low population. I mean we must be the lowest populated server, right? This is Kronos, Central Europe’s fresh server with the highest population (around 950 at the time of checking) by a few hundreds.

Now I’m not even going to wait and see if the season comes or if we’ll get another copy/paste “tentative date”. I’m already preparing for POE start and checking my notes on league starter. However, I wonder, what do you guys on these fresh servers that have maybe 200-300 players do? Do you even have M10 runs on these unpopular expeditions?

Honestly what they should have done from the start when seeing low pops and long queue timers is just focused on cross server functionality.

People who joined FSS got boned. It’s really unfortunate, but not surprising. AGS is delusional if they think this patch is going to fill FSS.

They should’ve have merged FSS long ago.

I am on a FS server with peak 400 players. Over the past weeks, I have been anticipating this update for the hope of having more people back, or for the hope of a merge, or waiting for them to open the damn way out. Currently, the update is not in sight, the server is dead more than it has ever been, you have big companies with 100 players having 10 players online at their peak, most people just left and stopped playing, wars not happening, OPRs happening rarely.
Now comes the interesting part about mutations, I’m still a low GS so I desperately need shards. I have to run at least 10 mutations per week to maybe progress at a decent rate, now guess what, I’m every day in the game, wandering around searching for parties and groups and I’m finishing the week with 6-7 runs maximum including bronze runs that give you a very little amount of shards.
What am I still doing in this game? I don’t know really, nothing else to play, no MMO is particularly attractive for me atm, and I cba investing loads of time into another game when I’m waiting for releases like throne and liberty and blue protocol. Created an alt on a legacy server and leveling it rn, but still many times over the past weeks I’ve thought about uninstalling this game and scraping it all together with all the frustration it is bringing to me.

Should’ve never did FSS. Everyone told them they’d be boned. It’s a good lesson for them.

FSS was a joke…only fools wanted these and AGS are the bigger fools for wasting dev time creating them.

I said it was a bad idea when they were announced, saw this coming…

They need to merge them asap into the main population. Can’t find groups = peace out. I’m a tank and it’s getting diff to find groups (I’m on El Dorado fyi)…

Funny I don’t agree with anyone here… I don’t want my server to merge, nor will I leave my company because of few expeditions more, I’m quite happy as it is.

However, what I would like and what would solve my issue is cross server group finder. Also mutations level, why it needs 10 levels is beyond me. But I don’t think these things would be coming any time soon as this game chat lags if you decide to mute general chat, I don’t want to think what would happen if you tried cross server chat.

Cross Server functionality for grouping purposes is a standard in most MMOs…except in AGS’s New WOrld. I feel for the OP, not sure what else to say at this point. This game launched without some of the most BASIC functions that are standards in games today.

it’s not like a lot of people talked about how FSS are useless and now we are here
honestly AGS should drop that FFS label and make those servers legace and allow to transfer in and out

Currently on EU FSS servers, total population:

2,823 (around 45% of all EU population)

More than one entirely full server, representing almost half of all EU players. So uh… if they’re useless then why are people playing on them?

The busiest FSS is busier than the lowest population legacy and not one single EU server is full (1.8k highest pop). By your weird definition, legacy is also useless.

FSS, like all servers (including all legacy) just need merging. All this nonsense talk about whether they’re needed or not is irrelevant. They’re necessary so long as players play on them and right now you could maintain two busy FSS servers in EU alone and that isn’t even taking into the consideration that many players would return as soon as the merges happen; I know at least 30-50 (and some would switch back from the legacy servers they reverted to once the FSS server got too quiet because AGS have delayed merging for way too long). And I’m not even considering the Season 1 start. Because, no matter how pessamistic you are about that, it will bring some players back for at least a short while.

If you prefer legacy, just stick to that and stop pretending your voice matters in this discussion.

Specifically made a new main on a FSS because of the low populations. Not all of us want merges from them; if you wanted a high population server where mutation runs were no problem, why’d you make a character on a FSS in the first place? Also, who on earth just stands around in a town for hours on end waiting on a lobby to fill? The whole raison d’etre of the lobbies is so you can go off and do other stuff in the game whilst u wait. So kind of sounds like OP brought about an evening of misery, waiting around, solely on themself!

sorry to break it to you but it sounds like the real problem you are facing is an overwelming difference in the ammount of tank/healers vs dps, you blame the low population but i play in nysa wich is overcrowded and i have the exact same problem as you do before 21:00.

and better be ready, because now that they are killing war hammer self sustain (trenchant recovery 50% nerf) many people will opt out of warhammer tanking to become full dps, wich will make this situation even worse.

just remember that they will open FFS to Legacy servers transfers soo.

OP here. I crafted some really good items while in town and did some trading. I wasted time in terms that I wanted to play mutations instead of crafting and trading.

The point of my post wasn’t to cry over my fate, I found the entire situation funny and we cracked jokes over how long will we wait. I just wanted to see how people in lower populated FSS-es are doing and to raise the subject of cross server functionality rather than merging. As full merging and transfers won’t benefit anyone cause I bet that legacy server players can’t wait for several hundred people competing for resources.

Yes, I’m leaving the game, but I’m only leaving because I find POE much more awarding and user experience is 5 years in front of NW. Only the trading might be a bit better in NW because the market exists, in POE you have to deal with people and bots for trades.

Edit: POE also has cross server trading and playing.

Most FSS suffers same problem.i have all 200 trade skills and all majors in Sutekh but that server really dying now…the only way you can enjoy FSS now is if you have active company or your own group.now i just spend most of my playing time at delos where i can use all my 25 weekly limits easily.hope they really open transfer from FSS…i miss doing m10 with my Sutekh toon
