Friend banned for no reason and appeal process is a joke

Friend went to log into new world with me yesterday when he had received a notice that his account had been permanently banned with the reason being [cheating]. It said if you believe you have recieved this penalty in error, you may appeal it by visiting appeal decision (which is clickable). He then started the appealing process because he was not cheating. He then received a email saying Hello ____
We reviewed the information you provided on appeal and have confirmed that the original disciplinary action was merited in your case. We take instances of Cheating seriously as it is harmful to the community and violates the following section of our Code of Conduct(link for code of conduct)
3.Play fair
Do:play within the rules of the game.
Do not: exploit bugs or other unintended uses of game features.
Do not cheat, bot, hack, or use other software or services that give you an unfair advantage through, for example, unattentded gameplay or game modifications.
Do not engage in real-money trading of in-game items and in-game currencies.
We reserve the right to determine what constitues unfair play and to take correcftive action we deem appropriate.
As a result, your New World account remains permanently banned.

During that time I being a good friend who sticks by my friend because i know he doesn’t cheat because he’s always with me, i then contacted one of the chat agents for the game because I think it’s completely ridiculous that he wasn’t even told what he did wrong and they denied him his appeal with a bot response. The chat informed me that they could not look at ban information and that the only way to speak to people from that department is by replying to the email that was sent or by putting in another appeal form. Although i told the chat agent that on the form itself it said putting in another form would not help we decided to reply to the email first like they said to do. He then replied with

What is it that i did??? I was mining ore with my friend i logged off and when i tried to log back in with her i was banned. I have never exploited bugs or used any cheats i dont use bots i dont understand why you aren’t giving me my account back. Can someone please contacft me on this if not i want my money back.

Then he received the same bot email as before only with a different name at the bottom this time and it said

At that point i was highly irritated because hours in and we still haven’t figured out why he was banned to begin with and all we got were bot responses. So i took matters into my own hands and started researching for a phone number to call online. I ended up first calling amazons corporate office where i spoke to a very nice man about the crap we had been dealing with. He atleast tried to get me information but came up empty handed since it was not part of his job description. He did however give me a customer service number to call. I then called that number and was transferred many times. During these phone calls i decided to see what would happen if i put in a appeal under my account which was not banned FOR my friends account by just filling in his game information and then the explanation of what was going on. I received this email while still on the phone

The people on the phone tried transferring me to Amazon Games department and came back to the line saying that the number had been disconnected and they only had a email. I then Sent them a email from my account telling them about our crappy experience, the time wasted, and attached all the emails they had sent him. Four hours of us trying to figure out why he even got banned. This was the 2nd response i had received from when i put in my own appeal.

Then i received a response to the email i had sent directly to the email that was given to me by the man on the phone i had been transferred to many times trying to pass me off to someone else.

I am sorry to hear of your boyfriends experience with his ban on New World. (btw never said he was my boyfriend)
I would suggest your boyfriend files another appeal,
Please have him send his New World game logs in the email as well.
We can submit this to the moderators and they will make the final decision based on the new information,

We still haven’t heard back from them. He is still banned for no reason. They still haven’t even told him what reason he is banned. He sent all the information he was told to send. He was one of the first players in this game, he was a Alpha tester. Put aside the fact that the game still feels like it’s a beta and goes down for maintenance with out warning all the time, I got more of a response from actual people and i wasn’t even the one banned. He got all bot responses. The appeal process is a complete joke and no wonder this game is dying and you have to keep merging worlds together. I love this game even with all it’s faults and I’ve put a lot of time into it but knowing my friend can’t play and no one will even tell him why makes me want to stop playing and go back to one of my old games. Unban him or at least tell him why he got banned unfairly. He couldn’t even post anything himself because of being banned. I’m his voice right now. I hope this forum reaches someone in the appeal department so we can finally figure out why this is happening.

This has been my experience as well. I am currently banned for 3 days on my account, I have played honestly as well. This is my second time in 3 weeks receiving a 3 day ban. I never received a reply to my first ban appeal.

I have tried to go through the appeals process and also tried the regular amazon customer service escalation route. The customer service manager I talked to was very nice and also tried as much as she should could to get an answer. She tried all internal channels to get ahold of amazon games and even she could not.

When my account is unbanned in 3 days I am now afraid to log back in until i can get answers as to why I was originally banned, which is sounds like is never forthcoming. I guess I will stay logged out of my main account indefinitely (pseudo permaban?) at this point until this poor customer service issue is resolved.

My guess here is they are trying to deal with the bot problem, legitimate players are getting caught up in an automated process and they don’t have the infrastructure to deal with it.

I’m really sorry for this situation with the ban your friend received for cheating and overall for how it went with the ban appeal process. This is definitely not the experience we want our players to have.

If you feel this ban was not merited the only way to appeal or obtain any kind of detail/information would be through the website same as our peers from live channels said and what your friend already attempted.

Unfortunately no one besides our Mods can access to the information and uplift or upheld the penalties. Lets remember and I advise to send as much information you’ve available so our team can review the proof and take the best decision.

As well remember to adhere to our Code of Conduct!

As I said to OP I’m sincerely sorry for this experience with the penalty you received and not having your first ban appeal replied to.

I insist that you keep trying and follow the same tips from the response above, gather all the details possible and attach them to your case so our team can take a look, rest assured each case is manually reviewed by our team.

That’s a tremendous amount of effort you put in explaining your friends situation. You’re a solid individual taking the time to write all that on his behalf. It does make we wonder what your friend is doing to thank you.

So you are sorry for the unfair ban, and you are sorry for the way it was handled, but you are saying the only way for a appeal is by continuing the crappy appeal process? There’s no way to get ahold of anyone on YOUR banning team to ask them to tell us why he got banned? The problem with what you are saying now is he continues to put in appeals but they refuse to acknowledge the appeal and basically say it’s one and done even though it’s unjust. It’s completely unfair and there is no dialog because we just keep getting the same bot replies. Not to mention the fact that even the emails that i received people introduced them selves as one person but signed as another. I stick to my original title of how much of a joke this is. I’m not asking to skip steps, I’m not asking to run up the chain of command, I’m literally asking for one person to do their job. You’ve seen the messages, which were clearly copied and pasted (btw the first one sent still had a 3. on it which they forgot to erase). PLEASE CAN SOMEONE TELL US WHY HE WAS BANNED. Is there anyone who works for Amazon Games that cares more about just getting a pay check? The current moderation team must be overwhelmed if they are banning non cheaters for no reason and then refusing to acknowledge their mistake because that’s the only thing i can think of that would make sense in this situation. He’s banned for cheating but no one can tell him what he did when he did absolutely nothing.

I play with him almost everyday. We farm together, we do dungeons together, we mess around in opr together, we split everything in half and work on our cache’s together, and we work on the grind of getting all our stuff to 200 together. New world isn’t even fun now that i’m stuck doing that all alone. He’s not cheating it’s a unfair situation and i spent hours on the phone because i know he’s not cheating. If i say nothing then nothing will get done because they listened more to my emails than they did his. And as for what i’m getting as a thank you i’ll let you know when we finally find out what bull reason they give for banning him.

I think one of the biggest problems is that we have no information about the moderation team. What department is the team in? Where is this team located? Are these moderators employees of Amazon or are they a contracted 3rd party like most large companies do for support?

I would love to see the SOP of this moderation team.

From the emails others post it’s obvious that these responses are canned. It may be true that each appeal is technically reviewed by a human but if that person/team is rated based on the efficiency of clearing the email queue it’s much easier to simply pull up the denial. If this team is contracted they might even be instructed by management to simply deny appeals without investigation to meet specific metrics.

I was once employed by a company that was contracted by a piece of fruit to provide phone support. Callers would randomly receive surveys and those surveys were how we maintained our contract. As long as our satisfied rate was 85%+ we were in compliance. Higher percentages triggered bonuses for team leaders and management. During a holiday rush I was cross trained to provide email support for their music platform. This system used drop down menus to generate responses. Our goal was to respond to everyone as quickly as possible regardless of the issue being resolved or not.

I bring this up because it seems to be similar to how people are being treated between the different support platforms. The chat/phone services seem to be extremely focused on empathy and customer satisfaction. The moderation team using email only seems to be taking the other approach.

And basically yes, your friend would need to contact using the link above. It’s stated that sending several appeals won’t do anything just delay the process. With just one more with plenty of information and details regarding the situation will do.

Hello, Once again using your contact us process (which brings me to the appeal ban page) i put in yet another appeal for my friend. This time i used the link to this post on the forums and i also shared our usual gaming schedule (yes we have one we follow pretty closely) When he submits appeals he gets the same response back.


Hopefully after putting in yet another one from my end someone will see it and open some dialog with him. Will continue to update, thanks.

The ban conditions and appeal process have always been garbage.
People were getting mass-report illegitimately banned and AGS didn’t even have the reason for the ban recorded.
How did a live human moderate the ban in the first place? (Yes, AGS keeps insisting every ban is checked by live humans).

It’s not merited, and it’s still not being reviewed. We have yet to hear back from ANYONE besides you on here. My new question is what department do you work in? Are you just getting paid to smooth things over in the forums? Do you even know any contact information on the moderation team? Is there any form of management there? Is there any form of communication between the departments at all? Thanks for at least monitoring the forums which i guess is what your job is. Did your friend get banned for no reason at all then get silenced so he couldn’t even ask why? Cuz you say you understand how frustrating this situation is but i don’t think you do, and i feel like you could care less about it. I could understand if there was a overwhelming amount of cases and we just had to wait our turn for it. But that’s not the case. He was downright silenced. With bot emails stating it doesn’t matter what he says from here on out they aren’t listening. I feel like just being here is a waste of time BUT maybe just maybe if enough people see this and complain MAYBE someone will do their job. I’ve been all over the forums reading similar posts (same copy and pasted emails btw) how many more players can new world lose till they look into this problem?

Yeah the moderation team sucks and they lie. It may not be intentional lying but they lie. Your ban proves it even further. It would be different in our case if they would send a email saying they are backed up and understaffed and will get to it when they get to it. But they just copy and paste the messages and say have a nice day. It’s easier for them to ban everyone than to actually do their job and look into it. My friend played with me daily. He logged on when i did we did the same stuff together. There’s no way he was cheating. My guess is someone got mad about our farming (cuz that’s what we do most of the time) and reported him. But i guess we will never know cuz no one will answer us. There is no one to actually get ahold of. Someone else is talking about getting a lawyer so i’m hopeful to hear back from him and his case. I can totally get it. According to the game i have 70 days 19 hours and 52 mins on this game. That’s JUST this account. I started off on a EU server so i have a level 60 there as well. 40 dollar game not worth fighting for, but when you take in to consideration all the time put in that game. Time is money. Just saying i get it. I hope you/your friend has better luck than we have so far. We are still hopeful. I occasionally see someone post their story and it gets solved and they get unbanned after 2weeks/1 month. Good luck though.
