It’s just bottlenecks and cooldowns being the biggest problem in New World IMO.
They seem very concerned about players running out of content rather than being able to enjoy the content that’s there. This has always been the issue IMO…
Gypsum for instance should and could have simply been continuing to gain xp(like when you are leveling) in any chosen activity and rewarding you a gypsum point each time you level. You can then apply this where you like. Remove any cooldowns or limits except maybe those from gathering/crafting.
I also think at this stage when players hit 60 they should just start on 590gs. Faction gear should be 590 too so entry level gear is easily acquirable. It just puts players off and doing expeditions and endgame content just becomes meaningless as a result.
Crafting should have no RNG. It can have lots of requirements to make the best stuff, but it shouldn’t be a gamble. Maybe make patterns the only way to craft. Make these patterns rare and appear across a variety of content meaning players can sell them. Making an interesting route to earning gold.
There are loads of example I’m sure many could offer, but essentially it is these bottlenecks and purposeful limitations that drive players away. It is better people run out of content and have had a good enough experience that they want to come back.
I truly believe this is the fundamental issue. Make the game fun and rewarding and people will come back for new content. You are pushing people away with these limitations and bottlenecks IMO.
I also think ultimately the reward track would be better to have a store to buy the rewards from. That said I am enjoying it, I just hate more RNG on a pretty big reward pool.
Amazon is just totally on board with the eastern vision for mmos - grind grind grind and RNG. They could have made pvp design decisions to make pvp one of the chief things driving the end-game, but did not. They made pve more of a theme park, but have used lockouts and rng grind to try to extend the life of very little content.
I am genuinely astounded that the game remains in as poor a state as it is this far out from launch. Just as astounded that there has been such a slow trickle of new content when the game released with so little.
The lack of a true direction and identify remain real weaknesses as well.

Nah, it could have RNG, just not how it is now. It’s insane trying to roll 3 Perks with 150 table. Insane.
Like a consumable? Ehh, we have schematics in the game already and they are worthless. But they could get fixed to require a lot of materials or rare material by refining 100 Amos or something. Hunting bosses for some rare mat to craft a Legendary feels way better than an endless grind.
or you could make a crafting option to add more materials to increase the chance of getting desired Perks. Even a 10% is gonna be better than rolling 3/150 and there might even be more perks in the future…
Yes I mean a set piece or named weapon that needs to be crafted. They could be in the PvP track, the loot table for each expedition etc… I dunno man… I think they should make it harder, but give us control and rare named schematics could be it. At the moment we are crafting with an undetermined cost. If the cost was 100k but you know you could craft what you wanted I wouldn’t mind. Hunting bosses for them would be a fun way to make gold too.
I said as you said before too. Make the requirement 10 times the mats if it guarantees the rolls you want.
It’s actually getting scary looking at the player count now too. I did have faith they’d turn it around… I am concerned now… It’s a shame too because I do enjoy playing despite its issues.
Added a thing others were talking about. Essentially removing expertise. I have suggested level 60s just start on 590 expertise, meaning their drops from endgame activities become worthwhile.
They should really just make new world like a drop in battle royal where you hit the beach and get to loot unlimited bis legendary crates until you are fully geared with 3 perk bis and consumables. Just make it easy so we can get straight to pvping.
Pretty much what many people have been saying. You can focus on making what content is available fun and dynamic (while adding more) or you can gate it. See what that has done to the game so far? It’s a culture thing with AGS and until that changes they will die a slow death. RND in this game is just beyond the pale but they seem to love it.
This game needs to be less about gear and more about skills. Sure make BIS hard but no where near impossible. So what if everyone will eventually be in BIS this just evens out the playing field and then you start rewarding skill.
