I just watched Asmongold repeatedly not using pots and dying over and over again to a simple boss fight.
And when he tries to dodge, it’s too late and as a dps, stands in front of the boss instead of the back… when he can simply stand there and block / pot instead to defend against boss mechanics.
Also, Asmongold mentioned he is OK with self-activating potions.
What kind of logic is that “asmongold died so it must be a thing they should add auto pots” if a noob dies while not using a damn pot its his issue.
“Asmongold mentioned he is ok” wow if he is okay we have to confirm it? hahahaha
It means all the nay sayers / haters on these forums are simply a super small loud minority and there are people who want this change to happen on live.
why should AGS listen to player that play like that?+
Cant a person just be bad because it cant follow game mechanics? Why action combat have to be dumbed down?
no it means that bad players always have the worst ideas, like yours, that thrash every possible balance giving everyone more than 1 hearthrune.
All the people that are arguing against this are people who care about the game, and who waste time on PTR testing this stuff. And more than 1 time Ags didnt listen in time and when patches were launched big major bug happened.
There is no “action combat” in consuming potions…
More than half the attacks are missed due to bad aim and moving targets. To get good at that would take an eternity for a typical tab target player who will quickly get frustrated coz of repeatedly dying and then quitting…
and in 4 slots u have to use also Gemstone dust/Oak/cleanse&haste potion.
If you put more slot that would lead to everyone having the same consumables slotted, leading to less diversity in consumables usage, and in less counterplay( when you slot right now you have to make a big decision in what you want in your 4 slots)
You should be able to use potions directly from your inventory and I suspect they will make that happen eventually now that you can open inventory while running .
This change DOES NOT TOUCH action combat AT ALL.
If you wanna complain for the sake of complaining, go on the WoW/ GW2 and AoC forums.
These games let you auto attack and tab target so your attacks are aimed for you holding your hands while you auto attack so your brain can go on auto pilot and do the 1,2,3,4 button spell rotation endlessly and repeatedly while standing in one spot for most of the time and never failing to miss.
Marking as solution to keep on top so the haters can get a hint where they need to go instead to
complain.
I’ve seen so many people on these forums claim that there is no skill in using a pot and it’s quite funny to read.
It takes the same amount of skill to pot while under attack as it does to dodge an attack. It also takes the same amount of skill to dodge while running away as it does to drink a potion while running away.
Weird, isn’t it? I guess dodging should also be automated.
The reason people say that it is dumbing down the game isn’t just because the potion activates for you. The real problem is that the potion has no drink animation. You have to consciously be aware of your surrounding when trying to drink a potion in an action combat scenario. if there is no animation and the heal can happen when you are being CC’d then it removes one aspect of combat that the player has to pay attention to. I can confidently say that the backlash for this potion wouldn’t have been so much if it had the same exact animation as regular potions but happened automatically. It would even be seen as a bad choice to use since you would be animation locked without your input. Imagine if players could run up to a chest and it automatically looted for you without the loot animation. This is the equivalent, but for combat. The animations are there so that players have to make decisions on when to perform an action.
The only people who cry about being unable to pot properly in battle (or say that the button is laggy) are the ones who mash the button without realising that their actions are being interrupted. They also tend to be the same people who cry that dodging is unresponsive when they fail to time it properly.
Your multi-runestone idea is interesting, but you missed the mark on the “not action combat” thing. Stay free.
