Please, If this is released, I will Spend $100 on the Store and post the video of doing so.
Please cover this topic.

and why do we still have azoth? It has been nerfed to the ground and just exist withouth a purpose. What does azoth actually bring to players in a positive matter? In many eyes its just more friction that shouldt be part of the game.

its just a resource. its used in crafting respecing and traveling

can we please just enjoy the reduced costs for 2 seconds vile of suspended azoth monger?

You dont like NW.

I get that, can we get a section in the forums for dev questions, then take the top voted questions for the videos?

Only thing that needs to be said is that videos should be released a day or two after they are filmed.
This one felt like it was released two weeks after it was filmed, so most of what was talked about was already known.

Bold statement given that I have over 1200 hours playing it and I continue to play it.

It would be more correct to say that I really like the potential that the game has. I do not like the state that it is in.

Honestly, the only thing I would like is to drop the entire pre-scripted format of these videos and have an actual non-filtered Q/A with the community where questions aren’t hand-picked and pre-screened, because the issue I have with the game has been completely glossed over and ignored with this update.

My problem I have with the game are the expedition tuning orbs and mutator orbs. Why are they a thing, why are the devs so hesitant to outright remove them when the feedback around them are generally very negative? Only excuses I’ve been hearing from community members boil back down to economy this or economy that. It makes no sense.

  • Aren’t Orbs Bind on Pickup to PREVENT sale of them from player to player?
    • If yes, why is it allowed for players to exploit selling orbs?
  • Why do the developers feel they need to play mommy and daddy with telling players how often one can participate in one type of instanced content, but other types of instanced content has no limits?
    • Looking at you OPR.

These orbs are an elephant in the room, and they continue to just ignore them or think tweaking the cooldowns on faction vendor on them will make things better. … Unfortunately the only real fix would be to eliminate them entirely. My suggestion would involve removing them, and if the developers are that interested in controlling how fast people gear up, then go with a tried and true method other MMOs have done — Loot lockouts. You can only get loot from each instance boss once every X days. You can only get loot from each instance loot chest once every X days. And so on. Allow folk to help others run the instanced content without penalizing them for having run the content earlier that day or what have you. I haven’t logged back in the game since I failed twice on Depths. I need to get back in there and get credit for killing the end boss of that instance, but I’ve burned my only two free entries into the dungeon, and I sure as hell ain’t going to PAY another player just to access the instance; I also ain’t going to drop faction points on getting back in there either, as that is just stupid as hell. Sorry, I ain’t sugar-coating my opinion here.

It really feels like its entirely scripted, rehearsed and so forth, because it just feels super polished, there’s no ahs or uhms in people’s speech, It feels very artificial despite that.

Exactly this, it IS pre-scripted and rehearsed.

Have you ever considered having a group of people within a Discord call/Teams meeting and one person broadcasts to the Twitch channel? I don’t see how that would be impossible and/or too difficult to handle.

This is my number one problem I have with the dev videos, we need more actual player questions in there, and not pre-screened, pre-approved and pre-scripted answers to these questions. As a few others in this thread have mentioned, because of this, these videos don’t really feel all too sincere. We want answers, there are huge elephants in the room, my tuning orb problem being one of them; desync and lag another; the state of crafting and its slot-machine style results; and so on. Cherry-picked questions like the ones in the video just don’t feel genuine. I’m fine with hearing a “I don’t know” or heck, being told that something is implemented the way it is due to technical reasons and it would take up too much time to properly fix within a given window is perfectly acceptable. Stop trying to hide things that shouldn’t be hidden from us. I get you guys don’t want to spoil upcoming story and such, but there’s no need to be completely vague on everything like you guys have been.

Edit: There’s also no need for complete radio silence like we got for most of February. The radio silence doesn’t really quell the unrest here in the community, and most people will only speculate towards the negatives when radio silence happens. That developer blog category that was added below the announcements section on the forum homepage? I thought the developers were going to be quite active within it. In fact the first few months was awesome, then Jan and Feb rolls around and complete radio silence within that category. Why?

we love you @Shadow_Fox in my server everyone loves you. global chat always talking about you and how amazing your smile is

Meaningless, Thanks my friend, but the question was directed at her. Good night

Thank you very much for making this thread and communicating with players @Shadow_Fox . I just wanted to share some of my thoughts after watching the recent dev video.

1. We hope to see and hear more of dev team’s thoughts rather than what actually happens in a week.

Honestly speaking, most of things stated in the video was something we knew or going to know in a few days by reading patch notes for both live and PTR. However, I did a translation of the video for Japanese players (because I am a Japanese player) on my personal website simply because the video was way better for us to understand the emotion of AGS, direction of the game, how AGS is really feeling about things towards next update or even longer future. Japanese community really liked the video and translated comments of dev team, and the comment I most liked from the community was “I felt like AGS is not given up with New World and it helped me to maintain my motivation grinding and trying new things in the game”.

I completely understand that AGS really wants to make sure you guys do not say anything incorrect because it can be a cause of bigger issues. Recorded and edited videos are fine, no real player involved is also fine. We kind of feel like we are heard more compare to the past. But I really hope to hear more of the real comments from dev team. I really loved the part where David mentioned that the team is starting to think like maybe it is the time to re-visit the original concept which is “survival crafting game”, and make necessary adjustment based on what team is learning from watching how people play the game now, after almost a half year from the official release. We won’t know exactly what is going to happen from that David’s comment, but we at least know that AGS is re-visiting the concept of the game. Maybe some of us don’t like it to be changed, maybe some of us want this game to be more survival crafting game, but at the same time, if we know that dev is thinking like that right now, maybe we can share our own thoughts on the forum and let AGS know what we want, what we don’t want, what ideas we have, things like that.

This does not mean all of our voices should be heard. Players are good at playing games while devs are good at making games. Player’s ideas don’t always help game development, but reading our reaction to those dev thoughts might be a good help for dev team to understand what people really want (not just what we say but more like what made us say those comments) and figure out what to add or not to add in the game. Those real comments from dev team really helps us to have a such environment. I would love to hear more things like concerns, draft ideas, direction change, ideas behind changes, things like that rather than things coming up in a few days.

2. We hope to see some pictures or slides helping us to understand what devs are saying.

The great example was the luck explanation done in Feb dev video. We could hear some things we knew and we did not know from the video. However, it made some confusion because the word choice dev team used was different from some players are using, and it also made some disappointment because some of the deeper questions were not answered. (At least people felt so)

In such situation, things might be much better if we have a picture or slide lining up all things dev wants to explain, so people will have much less chance to misunderstand, and we all know what dev team exactly meant. In addition to those, having such picture or slide would help information to be spread much easier on SNS because not all players have chance to sit down and watch an hour long video.

I hope this helps you to build improved communication between AGS and players moving forward. And again, I would like to thank you all for the great game and ongoing improvements. We kind of all know there are a lot of room to grow for New World, and I personally think so too, but this is the only an MMO which made me purchase and play 600+ hours in 10 years. I really believe in the future of New World.

Thank you and see you in Aeternum!

Yeah bro just get some random Johnny to come talk smack about how " they " want the game to be. Sounds right

Did you even watch the Dev video. I will tell you right now. There was over 40+ Ums and Ahs.

Honestly, I think the videos are great, and I think you did great as well. Give yourself more credit!

Content-wise, the only thing I really want to hear devs talking about at all, though, is what the plan is to get game off life-support. It’s no big secret that the player base has dwindled to next to nothing, and I’m sure morale on the team is…less than ideal.

We need to hear plans for a.) an enormous reduction in the overwhelming tedium of all forms of play, and b.) the introduction of repeatable, rewarding, engaging content with long-term carrots to chase. Making a number go uppy is not a carrot. My biggest problem with New World is that to do anything, it demands that I play for at least an hour. To make any kind of real progress, it demands that I play for several.

I can log into FFXIV or GW2 or Lost Ark or ESO or WoW and a.) immediately be in the kind of content I want to be doing, and b.) feel adequately rewarded after 15-30 minutes. I know all the die-hards here hate the “casual” crew, but casual players are the lifeblood of online games. Amazon did not spend several hundred million dollars on New World to cater to a niche subset of a niche subset of players of a niche genre.

The devs also need to tell us what cannot or will not be done. If cross-party matchmaking for OPR and dungeons is impossible because of engine restraints, just say up front right now, “yeah, that will never be in the game.”

Not really. The post was all negatives without any positives about the game.

I still stand by my statement.

Please ask about the current state of the bow. Just need to hear the team saying “just minor tweaks, it’s in a good state” so I can either quit the game or force myself on firestaff/musket.

Pardon the passive aggressive tone, I’m speaking for the entire bow community rn with this request. We’re all very frustrated.

Other than that: Cheers, liked your more direct approach ofn critical questions towards the DEVs a lot and you seem a very good fit for the future updates. Keep up the good work!

A good questioner doesn’t ask a question that is a yes or no answer. Sometimes we want looooong, in-depth answers to questions that have not yet been explained. I have no idea what fear there would be in accidentally disclosing information about this game. The developer and community should be fairly hand-in-hand with the progression of this growing game. It’s not best to tell us not to pay attention to the man behind the curtain, we’ve all seen the Wizard of Oz. If the dev’s just come out and show they are human, there will be a lot less “friction” between the players and developers. Right now pre-recorded questions/answers is not a very transparant way to address the community. More Open-ended dialogue is what we as players crave. We don’t like feeling left out, which is how I believe a lot of us are feeling with the direction of this game.

Thanks for your time, and keep up the good work!

This game needs new content not Brutes in different skins or recycling same dungeons over and over!

  1. Mounts
  2. More OPR style Event
  3. PvP Zones All Grey Map Areas Should Be Auto PvP
  4. Guild Bank / Inventory / Member Taxing System
  5. World Bosses “Not Brutes that have been scaled big with a skin!!!” New!
  6. Ranking System [Opr , War , Open World PvP, Dungeon Clear Time etc…]

Just a few things I can think of that will bring players back and keep them

@Shadow_Fox the Heart of Madness reveal would have been the perfect thing to tease in the last dev video. Even a minute or two teasing what’s in today’s update with some clips or screenshots would have injected some excitement of things to look forward to!

Debuting it in your dev video, followed immediately by the online article would have been a solid way to maximize hype imo.
