both hatchet and warhammer have a better lunge than GA, yes. I have sets for everything, and I can say I dropped my GA a month ago in favour of weapons that I dont need to use 2 dodges after every light attack to even hit a target that i’ve managed to get to.
you literally have to dodge twice in order to hit a second light attack with a GA if your target is hold the S key and walking backwards. 2 dodges, most of my stamina bar, in order to counterplay the S key backwards walk.
i did not get “abused” people were just bad at the game still.
if the meta had been rapiers / IG pre GA nerf this never would have happened.
people have now got comfortable with the game, have figured out the weapons, and now GA is brought to group pvp content in hopes of a good grav well, or to be used as bait.
it was over nerfed because people didnt understand the other weapons.
currently every ranged weapon in the game other than LS hits harder than a GA does, from range. from range. you literally hit harder than a great axe from max range. can you imagine? and all it takes is a rapier on your backbar, and a GA/WH/Spear will never touch you. you can kite them till the game shuts down.
rapiers CD’s are so short, and with the right armor/weapon traits you can outrun anyone.
Spear provides massive stamina use nerf, allowing you to dodge an insane amount of times to catch people, and it currently has the best tracking / lunge distance in game.
I used to play GA/WH from the beginning, I always been a melee guy. I agree that the lunge was OP before, but now it’s just a joke. Unless you are doing war where there are masses of ppl, it’s pretty useless. You can literally use any skill that includes somekind of movement to get out of Gravity well. Charge usually doesnt hit anything, even when ure hitting them on your screen, or you just teleport to somewhere else. Reap is good ability but it doesnt connect, that I switched away from it (still better for dueling&small scale pvp)
So I would like to see some improvements on the movement/lunging, not a teleport wha it used to be, but now most of the time Im hitting air.
Make a video or test it urself, Void Gauntlet - Void blade heavy attack lunge is HUGE. You dont have even have a target and u will leap for 5m! With my GA I can pull with heavy attack, alltho it’s so slow that you can usually just walk away from the pull range.
I usually turn away from ppl who have rapier/bow/light gear who can play(run). They cant kill me but I cant even catch them.
Now Im trying mage setup and I love it, u can run all u want I’ll just shoot you.
GA may be overnerfed, I want them to fix desync/targeting issues before they work on buffing it, though. And I’d rather they fix some other aspects of it (Mauler’s fury and fort whirlwind durations need to be longer, like why is fortifying rain of arrows 22s when whirlwind is 2s) than just give the weapon what it had back.
The biggest nerf to melee atm, other than the desync stuff, is IG being absolutely busted right now. At least with pre-nerf GA you had some things you could do. You get stuck in an ice storm, which is basically instant, and your character just stops being functional unless you use a rapier. Not to mention VG scream needs a massive increase in its cooldown. I ate 3 screams in a 5s window in war earlier, because they get so much cd reduction it just comes right back so why not spam it?
musket might be the single highest hitting glass cannon build avail, all from the safety of render distance.
Firestaff is actually the most balanced weapon in this game, players are just pissed its not insane busted with 6k X 2 crits anymore. of course it feels bad after you cant 1 shot 8 clumped people.
Ya my first thought was, And muskets shoot at even a greater distance and hatchets can’t match either GA or Spear.
Each weapon has it’s own uses. Everyone wants a “swiss army knife” of a weapon. One weapon that can do it all. That just doesn’t make sense in a game like this one.
Also, there’s a second weapon slot for a reason. They know this bc they ran GA/WH for ages.
Choose Spear or something else to fill in the gap that GA can’t cover.
Or the fact that ‘Gravity’ perk, which is suppose to root for 0.25sec. We tried this but my friend didn’t notice any root? He was running past me and was slightly pulled inwards but his running never stopped.
For your info, the Spear is concidered a longer weapon than your GA, so yes it should have a longer reach.
Also, if you complain about GA reach, try using the rapier lunge and come tell me if you ever suceed on hitting someone who is moving backward or running.
Nope, Great Axe lounge isn’t a joke. It was a joke before nerf.
Did you ever take an axe into your hands? You cannot hit and jump with weapon like this like monkey with light stick. It’s huge, heave and massive weapon which doesn’t let you jump and make fast hits. It must work like this. it is normal for lighter weapons to guarantee better movement and lounge
This game needs to implement “sticky melee”. Meaning that if you engage someone in melee then your character should automatically stay close and face your target, until either the target disengages by increasing the distance by moving away faster than than you, by using CC or light armor dodghe for example, or you disengage from the target.
Otherwise, due to lag, melee will always have an issue of hitting a moving target.
Hahaha i played +400 opr a lot of time in top five. This game is shit. if you want try catch a bow rapier build. You will play ga. i will play bow rapier. if you kill me in 10 minutes i give my account. Close fighting is not run.
Agreed. Or try to do a roll with holding a huge bow in ur hands. It’s a game and we all want to enjoy it.
I love the damage and attack speed of GA. But the fact that you can avoid getting hit by it just by running (not even dodging) is not that great.
It might just enough if the characted would move forward when hitting, even when you are not close to anyone, similar to VG void blade. 1vs1 Gravity Well can be easily dodged/get out of and with charge+reap/maelstrom u can get few hits in, which can be negated by a health potion.
Or maybe if Blood Lust would persist for, lets say 2seconds, after losing the target maybe then chasing/connecting hit or two would be easier.
Spear is really nice at the moment, it does a shit ton of burst dmg (if u can connect) I think that spear is the only melee weapon atm which can melt a healer alone, but at the same time it’s not OP.
And don’t get me wrong, I don’t want GA to be godly one shot machine or teleporting lunge. Just make it better from what it is now.
