Think of it like this, if they removed lifestaff completely tomorrow, would you tell people who have been using lifestaff since day one and love healing to adapt their skills. No, you’d be like “This is bullshit” just like the rest of us would. To me melee duelist is the same thing, its a role in the game that effectively no longer exists. For those of us who have been playing it for hundreds of hours and getting good with it, it kind of sucks that it was taken out of the game
That is simply not true. The majority of the people that frequent the forums dont even participate in discussion. Those that do, are an incredibly small percentage of the total population of the game.

I have listed multiple fucking reasons as to why the nerf was game-changing and eliminated melee ability to counter ranged players, and all you fucking have to offer with 0 explanation or evidence is:

I didn’t spend hours formulating a detailed explanation of why the GA nerf fucked melee over and turned this into a ranged meta only to be told baselessly that the GA nerf was minimal without offering an explanation as to why my points are invalid.

Your great axe can still two shot me, though. I think balance in PvP needs to be scaled to the highest of situations.
a) how can it be abused in war
b) how can it be abused in opr/open world
c) then how can it be abused in duels, solo, pve, etc

Got left behind. As I mentioned I’m not gonna regrind an entire new dex or mage build just to compete with ppl that have been practicing these builds for hundreds of hours when kiting is not even a playstyle I enjoy. But I’m not the only one getting “left behind” the game is worse for everyone if all the melee users quit and range becomes the only thing useful outside of just sitting on a point getting healed and spamming AOE attacks like maelstorm

Melee is just rubber banding in this game where your skills don’t work half the time.
you can literaly do that to every single melee weapon, Gaxe was god tier because it was the only weapon they could stick to people in melee however thta being said axes shouldnt of gotten nerfed (In the regard atleast) and every other weapon should of been brought up to be able to hit somone running away (Some range weapon might need buffed due to kiting being harder to do however but that can be addressed if it is a problem later)
All melee weapons light attacks imo should not be animation locked in regards to movement it should gave split animation so you can light attack while running at normal speed. Attacks might need a dmg reduction/balancing after however it worth it to make weapons able to chase people.
I dunno in OPR the mage is usualy top and does more dmg than all other range classes from what ive seen atleast in my OPR there 2 stupidly good ones one uses void gauntlet+Ice gauntlet, the other uses firestaff and ice gauntlet (He does 3k left clicks) and 450-550dmg burn ticks every second for like 14 seconds (This alone would kill me if i dont drink a pot)
I’m starting to wonder if the reason you only duel was so that you could choose to only duel ranged players where you knew you had a significant advantage…

Nah I dueled melee too. One of the hardest builds to fight was heavy armor sword and shield with hammer or GA. Lots of good melee and ranged duels before GA nerf.
You can think what you want though
Melee is now completly useless in any open world/duel situation. Versus any decent player you get max. 1 hit (sometimes even 0 because of the weird teleportation/lag issues) and afterwards a dodge is enough to simply run out of range.
The only situation melee is viable rn is spamming abilites with GA/WH when capping a point.
With Hatched i sometimes trigger Leap but i can’t explain how to repeat that deliberatly. Maybe i t has something to do with target on opponent and then when lose target and retarget it will do Leap for the next first light attack.
It seems to have a slight lunge effect. Still isnt nearly enough to counter a ranged player though because it lacks the high damage the Greataxe had. If the GA’s basic attack was similar to hatchets but had the pre nerf damage of the Ga, it would probably be somewhat more usable
