You realise, that’s a lot right? It’s used in combination with other weapons. Right now every meta build has a main weapon and a secondary that has evasive/cc abilities

… right but if GA “had to be able to close range” to compete with ranged players, then why was it better at this (as well as several other tasks) than every other melee weapon. I think the problem is that you’re conflating overarching melee problems with specific GA problems. To be clear GA has (in one kit).

- Best in class - Area Dmg
It was previously an overall better choice in small, medium and large scale PvP than other melee weapons. That’s a problem. Absolutely melee needs something in NewWorld to be comparable with range… that shouldn’t all be piled on one weapon.
o.k. so what are you willing to give up to get lunge back? It was O.P. in it’s earlier form so a total reversion won’t happen. If they were to restore the lunge what are you willing to lose in exchange?

It may be subjective but the majority would agree with his assessment lol. Quit trying to play semantics and offer up some solutions
nothing. they balanced the damage of reap and the speed of blood lust. The weapon feels like crap to swing. thats all i want changed. They dont have to increase the lunge. but tune it so you cannot walk backwards to get away from a light attack. Fix the issue of rubberbanding backwards.
So the solution is instead of having another melee weapon that can compete, now we have none? Idc if theres another melee weapon that can compete or not but now there is no melee build that can counter range at all. And tbh not every weapon is going to be able to do any one thing. Imo almost all of the weapons had some use, if not as a main weapon, then as a secondary one that supports the main weapon. I had 0 problems with the GA being the only counter to ranged because it wasn’t really true. You needed GA and a secondary whether it be hatchet, sword and shield, or hammer. Any of these combos could work together harmoniously but without the GA being able to keep on top of a ranged player, none of these combos are effective

I think the #1 thing is that heavy armor GA users shouldn’t be able to lunge like that and have that kind of mobility when ranged players couldn’t do enough dps in between gap closing for a fair fight. So step #1 is somehow punish the mobility of a GA user that uses heavy armor. On top of that I would be willing to have a slight reduction to GA damage. That would probably bring it back to being useable without being overpowered.

Otherwise, having a lunge somewhere between where it was before and how it is now could be another way of doing it. Right now you can’t hit any light attacks on someone who simply backs away which is ridiculous. Honestly if its range was more in line with where the hatchet is now but has the damage of a GA, it would probably be pretty fair
