“To Easy Anti-Cheat, Overwolf is malware.”
You also said that. So basically you’ve said a whole bunch of nothing as it pertains to the OP, his specific situation, EAC, or Overwolf as a whole. Yes, things that aren’t allowed by EAC will be blocked. Overwolf is not in that category of things. Thanks for the enlightenment. You’ve made the world a better place today.
Anyway, OP mentioned he was using NWMM so I’m guessing it’s somethign with that app specifically that’s the problem.
Yes you did. You agreed to have anti-cheat software running on your system when you agreed to the TOS. And scanning your processes to see what should be running and what shouldn’t is exactly what anti-cheat software does.
Then it’s “malware” the same way Facebook is “malware” or any number of free phone apps are “malware”… Malware isn’t malware if it’s doing something that it explicitly tells you in the user agreement that you don’t read that it’s going to do (in this case, data collection). If we’re going to do that, then New World is malware because it collects data about you, too. In order for something to actually be malware, it has to be doing something that the user doesn’t want and isn’t informed of. You can’t be mad at software for collecting data that it’s telling you that it’s going to collect…
Why you are not playing the actual game? We got your position. Btw EAC chould block Chrome because you can open the map on the second screen and see all resources. If you are doing something like this, you are cheater.
nodes show on your compass bud, the devs approved the use of overwolf minimap as long as it only shows things are already on the compass, and thats all it does.
Good idea. We need to block all phones. But seriously. What prevents me to code extension to chrome with ocr and make map not for overwolf but for google extension market? And then what will happen? Chrome will be blocked.
"To reiterate, the official position is that an add on which is location only is fine for now.
If the add on uses more data, such as from external websites, the game, etc other than location, and solely the player location on a map, then it is not allowed."
It never tracked nodes, it just gave the same info the website gives you, but it doesn’t track nodes. If the node is not there you will only know as soon as you go there and take a look, or check compass if it’s up.
Even with the minimap you have to check the compass.
