Game acts like malware. Deleted

If you want to see it that way, sure. AGS said that I’m allowed to use a tool and I am opting to use that tool. I don’t see what the problem is.

they didnt use to disclose it at all. which is why, to me, they are permanently MALWARE.

Why you are not playing the actual game? We got your position. Btw EAC chould block Chrome because you can open the map on the second screen and see all resources. If you are doing something like this, you are cheater.

nodes show on your compass bud, the devs approved the use of overwolf minimap as long as it only shows things are already on the compass, and thats all it does.

The key thing is that it shows you nodes that would normally be outside compass range. along with nodes you can’t yet track on your compass.

Same. If you are at least once looked at the resource map you are the cheater.

Good idea. We need to block all phones. But seriously. What prevents me to code extension to chrome with ocr and make map not for overwolf but for google extension market? And then what will happen? Chrome will be blocked.

"To reiterate, the official position is that an add on which is location only is fine for now.

If the add on uses more data, such as from external websites, the game, etc other than location, and solely the player location on a map, then it is not allowed."

Cya - and take that cheating map addon with you.

If you are using browser on the second screen, you are a cheater too. CYA.

If you check the overwolf website you will see its down for new would they are working on fixing it

It never tracked nodes, it just gave the same info the website gives you, but it doesn’t track nodes. If the node is not there you will only know as soon as you go there and take a look, or check compass if it’s up.

Even with the minimap you have to check the compass.

Glad the devs are h a r d a t w o r k

Wait, did you just interject facts and observable results into a rant thread? Shame on you!

Jump the gun, act like an 8 year old and insult game devs who didn’t do a thing. Very mature. Overwolf just confirmed that they need to update things from their side to match the api update. (usually with larger patches, api gets updated and certain things needs to be changed from addon providers as well) So sit down, calm down and wait till things are fixed, you temper tantrum throwing overgrown manchild.

If you read through their replies on Overwolf, which I agree are about as clear as a mud puddle, they repeatedly state that locating nodes, even via use of an out of game website that is tied to the information Overwolf pulls, is a no-no. I will attempt to locate an example. I have commented in a few threads that their responses on this ARE NOT CLEAR.

Hopefully this works: Ban Overwolf Minimap, it is cheating & ruining immersion - #724 by Kyosji

No it doesn’t. You need to understand that the addon doesn’t show anything that is in the game with the exception of your character coordinates. It shows you a website with a map. It does not show you where things are.

If they have said that then I have not seen that. Can you quote or link to the post where they say that? But even so it doesn’t “pull data” from anywhere. It shows a map with icons of locations that have had resources. It doesn’t show data of where the actual resources are in game. It may feel the same but it’s not the same.

If the addon ever knows what is in the game then it’s not allowed. But it doesn’t know where anything is. It only shows you a map of where something have been.

EDIT: Ok I have read this official comment now: “including pulling resource locations from the game or an external website, giving players an advantage that is not intended by the developers”.

So that comment about what is intended by the developers are interesting. But still, “pulling data from external website” is not the same as showing a map where things have been historically, but, it’s clearly not intended by the developers, but at the same time, they are allowing it for now. It’s very weird.

Personally I’m not using it. I’m using a second screen. Works better than an ingame minimap most of the time and will always be allowed no matter what  It would be nice to have a minimap though becasue it’s annoying to click the map over and over and watch that second screen all the time.
