Game causing laptop to run hotter after most recent patch

Since the latest patch (season 1: Fellowship and Fire) my laptop has been running excessively warm. I’m using the same graphics settings prior to the patch (mostly low and a couple medium) and within a minute or so of the game booting up the temperature rises to worrying levels. This stops me from playing more than a few minutes at a time as I’m concerned long periods of play could permanently damage my laptop. I previously limited my processor state as that was a suggested method to reduce temps and it worked fine and kept my laptop at a sustainable temp threshold.

Since the patch this no longer seems to work and if I continue to play after a certain point appears to crash my game. Not sure if there is anything I can do to try and remedy this.

Hey, @MrGhosty009!

I’m sorry to hear that you are experiencing some overheating issues, I’ve been there myself :smiling_face_with_tear:.

Assuming that your laptop meets the minimum requirements to play the game, I recommend that you go over the troubleshooting steps shown here.

I’ve seen that some people have found success by limiting the frame-rate; sometimes a simple update is super helpful in cases like this; making sure that the fans are working properly and that the airflow is optimal can be a good idea as well. You can find more overheating troubleshooting here.

If you find that everything in your machine is working properly and you believe that this is an issue that should be looked into more deeply, then I’d advice you to create a web ticket detailing the issue, as well as the troubleshooting steps you’ve already tried, that way an agent can look at your case more closely and create a ticket to our technical team.

I hope this helps!

See you in Aeternum! :hot_pepper:
