- What is your character name in New World:
eXeler0n - What server/world did you experience your issue on:
Aaru - Describe the issue you are experiencing:
When logging in or porting to Windsward, my game crashes. This doesn’t happen outside of Windsward, as there aren’t that many players. (May big player battles have the same bug?) - Is this a bug? (If this is an exploit, please dm Aenwyn or Luxendra)
Yes. New World is leaking memory in this situation. The game fills the whole remaining 12Gb RAM (of 16 Gb) and then fills additional 7-8Gb on swap. Increasing swap to 32Gb helped to get into the game from time to time. - (if a bug) How did the issue effect your gameplay:
Can’t login or port to Windsward. - (if a bug) Were you able to recover from the issue:
Yes, walk to Windsward and don’t log out there. - (if a bug) Please include a screenshot or video of the issue that you have experienced:
- What are the steps to reproduce the issue as you experienced:
Log out in Windsward or port to Windsward playing on Arch Linux. - When did this happen? (Date and Relative time; please include your timezone)
Evertime
Sorry to hear you’re having this issue.
I’ve moved this over to the support section so our support team can check into this.
Hello @eXeler0n and thank you for moving this over @Centeotl ,
I am sorry to hear you seem to be having high memory consumption that results in crashes, specifically in Windsward.
Please note Linux is not fully supported but here are some things you can try in order to troubleshoot this (windows compatible only):
- Ensure your video drivers are up to date.
- Set Windows power settings to High Performance.
- Press Windows + R, type “powercfg.cpl” into the Run window, and then press Enter.
- Select the radio button next to the High performance power plan. You may need to click Show additional plans first.
- Adjust your in-game video settings. (sometimes just changing them back and forth will reset the issue)
- Clean boot Windows by following these instructions:
How to perform a clean boot in Windows (to reduce startup applications/Check for Malware). - Reset your video driver software to the default settings.
- Check for evidence of overheating.
- Please verify the integrity of game with the Steam integrity check
How To run a Steam Integrity Check
If the issue persists after this, the scenario will require our tech team to look into your logs and follow up directly with other possibly sensitive account information that is best not posted on the forums so it would be best if you could please create a web ticket by going to Contact Us | Amazon Games.
I hope this helps and if not, do not hesitate reaching out to live support.
See you in Aeternum! ![]()
Most of the things are for Windows, not really helping on Linux ![]()
But grapphic drivers, Steam, game, kernel, Proton, … is on newest version. This is related to NW, not the system. My assumption is, that AGS depends on some memory management of Windows, that isn’t available on Linux, so the game just eats up everything it can get.
Thanks, added a report there.
