having the same issue, i don t know if its a connection problem or something but i played since closed beta and this is the first time im having this issue

Bump still having this issue

In the live chat they told me they know about the problem and its a server related issue. So everything we do is pointless. They have to fix this from their side.

I’ve been contacted by customer support via email with more troubleshooting information and none of it worked.

I don’t think they understand I can log into New world on any character but my level 60 character so the issue isn’t my computer or my drivers as shown below

Can someone look at the status of the character or force spawn it into an inn/roll the character back up until the servers went down for US East?

After checking with our developers, please follow this troubleshooting steps in order to fix the issue:

  1. Validate the files on Steam:
  • Head over to your Steam Library
  • Right-click on New World
  • Select ‘Properties’
  • Select ‘Local Files’
  • Select ‘Verify the Integrity of Game Files’
  • After it finishes, restart the computer
  1. We should make sure that player’s OS is up-to-date. If it’s bit outdated, then player can run into any number of unexpected issues.

Type “Check for Updates” into your start menu search bar and press Enter
Click “Check for updates” even if it says you’re already up-to-date
Download any pending updates.
Restart your computer to apply the update

  1. Let’s make sure the graphics driver are up to date and not corrupt, as that can cause a ton of issues. First, we should uninstall any existing drivers to ensure they don’t have any corrupt or missing files:

Open your start menu (Windows Key) > Click Control Panel > Click System.
Click the Hardware tab, then click Device Manager.
Click the “Display Adapter” tab and click the drop down arrow. You should see your device.
Right click your video card/integrated GPU and select properties.
Under the Drivers tab, select uninstall and check “Delete the driver software for this device” and click “Uninstall”.
Restart your computer

Please make sure to HIDE ALL MICROSOFT PROCESSES when disabling startup programs.

Find EAC(EasyAntiCheat) process and re-check that service. This is required for New World

As I’ve outlined earlier I have done all of these steps. Currently I believe my character is in a weird state and will need to be moved/reset.

New development. I gave my spouse a rapier a few weeks back and she finally leveled up to be able to use it. Upon trying to equip it, it disappeared from her inventory

Update

After the patch and windows update today my game still crashes loading my lvl 60 character. My game validated fine after the patch and the loading screen updates to show information but the game freezes and crashes.

Last update - I resolved my own problem. I logged into a new computer that wasn’t mine and manually moved my character to a new location (weavers) and I can login as normal.

It seems as I stated my character was in limbo according to my computer/client and upon moving it solved it immediately.

I’ve been having the same issue! Game crashes on existing character, works fine on new character. I switch to another PC, my original character is good, and I can play (no weird limbo there).

I’ve done everything on my original computer as suggested throughout the forums and AGS support, still with no luck.

There must be a hidden file somewhere on my original PC, associated with just that character, which I can’t find to delete/remove which is causing the problem.

I don’t know what to do now. I can’t borrow the other PC that long. Both of the computers are new builds (within the last 6 months), with only the drives as reused.

Did you ever figure out the root cause on the original computer that you were able to clear?

Have you tried deleting the file associated with character data fetching?

I would uninstall new world
Go to drive->users ->username->appdata->roaming->AGS->new world and delete (user_preload_settings.cfg)

Id then get on the second computer move your character to a different part of the map in a safe zone.

Log off

Reinstall new world on the main computer.

I’m sorry your experiencing issues with game crashing on existing character.

Unfortunately this is a known issue with few players and we need to escalate this further to the DEV team so resolve.
