Ever since the update I have no been able to play the game. I can load into the world but within seconds it crashes. I’ve done everything listed in the crash fixes topic and more. Nothing is fixing it. Everything worked perfectly fine before the last update. I’ve done everything beside reformat my computer, which I’m not going to do.
I am having the same issue
I’m not the complaining type, I get it, but this is ridiculous. Not even a reply about the issue, that it’s being looked into or worked on. Just radio silence. No fixes. Nothing.
Same, II have 40 hours into the game and suddenly today I get a fatal error every few minutes, I have uninstalled the game, tried all the trouble shooting, analyzed my dump files… some pointer issues with the shaders… seems like a development issue not a system issue!
I figured my crashes out:
I was able to play 40+ hours without crashes then recently kept crashing every 10 minutes, I tried everything, expanding my virtual page memory, reinstalling New World, verifying my files, using admin privileges, reinstalling my Nvidia drivers, mem test, analyzing my crash dumps which were all widely variable. Here was my culprit: Resizeable Bar, or in Nvidia’s implementation, Clever Access Memory (CAM) (Set as: “Above 4G Decoding” in my ASRock BIOS settings).
New World doe NOT play well with Resizable Bar and that should be a major warning for users experiencing repetitive unexplained crashes to turn it OFF! No crashes since. I wonder if a recent update screwed with Resizable BAR/CAM implementation to cause a lot of memory errors (lots of dumps were null pointer exceptions in memory space).
This was happening on 2 of my computers, similarly configured, Windows 11 Pro, i9 11900K and i9 12900K processors RTX 3090, RTX 3080Ti, both with DDR4 3600 64 GB RAM, crashing to desktop or hard crashing to reboot.
Hope this helps some of you!
Hi. Great tip but I got one issue with it… I have no idea were to turn it off… Im a bit of an idiot when it comes to computers so this is greek to me… would U be so kind and point me in the general direction of the Clever Access Memory (CAM) so I can turn it off? Thanx
Honestly, my BIOS has limited options and Resizebar/CAM isn’t even an option. So, whether I even have it or not is up for debate! But from what I could google it looks like it’s under the advanced tab in your BIOS.
If you have Windows 10, go to your update and security settings (should be able to search for it in the search bar) then click Recovery, then Advanced Startup. Should restart your computer and bring you to a menu, you should see Troubleshoot, click that and then go to UEFI Settings, click that and restart. This should bring you to the BIOS. Look under the advanced tab for resizebar/CAM. Not all BIOS have the same layout so, you may have to search a bit.
Just be careful, making changes to the BIOS can really fuck up your PC. Turning off resize/CAM shouldn’t do any harm, just be careful not to accidently make any other changes! Hopefully that works for you, since I don’t seem to have the option to turn mine off lol.
Hello Adventurers,
Thank you for the report. Im sorry for the issue you have. Please try the following. Close and relaunch the Steam client. Then go to Steam Support :: Verify Integrity of Game Files in order to Verify Integrity of Game Files. Then wait for 15 minutes and try to go back to the game.
Please check the following:
Make sure your Bios is up to date.
Also update if needed: New World Compatible GPU Driver Update - Support
Look for the game directory, and then select the subfolder “EasyAntiCheat.” Click EasyAntiCheat_Setup.exe to run the installer as admin, repair if needed and relaunch the game when complete.
Note: Installation directory for Steam Games will generally be under: C:\Program Files\Steam (x86)\SteamApps\Common
Please note: 1. Crashing error usually happens on systems running older versions of Windows. Be sure to confirm that the system meets minimum requirements to run the game.
2. Repair or install C++ redistributable (game uses 2015-2017 C++ files, found here: The latest supported Visual C++ downloads). It’s important that players either download the x86 or x64 file version, depending on their specific version of Windows.
You can also attempt to use the SFC tool built into Windows: Use the System File Checker tool to repair missing or corrupted system files.
Hi. Did all U said in Ur post but still dident help. Game keeps crashing either at the loading screen. If I manage to get into the game, I can play for maybe 10-20 min before the game crashes, unless I try to recall to my inn or use the fast travel. That an almost 100% failrate to get a gamecrash. I got about 100 hours played so far but the last 40 has been in maybe 20-30 min periods inbetween crashes. Also before the first update/patch I could run the game at High settings, now Im on Low settings and struggle to get over 20-25 fps. I really like the game but as it is now, its unplayable.
Not saying that my fix is a cure-all for everyone, but it was for my sudden crashes on 2 systems after recent updates. Interestingly prior to maybe the recent update I only had a few crashes but then after was getting crashes on 2 systems repeatedly within minutes of playing over and over again. This issue is pretty nuanced. Resizable Bar and CAM are new technologies unlikely to be enabled if your PC is older. This requires some configuration to set up, so if it wasn’t set up to begin with, it’s probably unlikely to be affecting you. Also my situation was nuaced to:
Resizable Bar / CAM - Nvidia 30 Series (3090, 3080 Ti)
ASRock motherboards Z490 Taichi, Z590 Velocita
i9 11900K and i9 12900K CPU’s
Crucial Ballistix DDR 3600 64 GB Matched Pairs
and of course the big one: Windows 11 Pro
Somewhere in the mix of all that and the latest update came a bunch of unfixable fatal crashes that I think was bad memory mapping
The exact same thing happens to me, but with the difference that my screen freezes 10 seconds after entering the world, is there a close solution to this? Or will we not be able to play new world again?
Contact Amazon games support directly through their chat feature! They helped me find out that my D drive (ssd) was having a write/read issue that was causing my crashes, after I reinstalled on my C drive, everything appears to be working.
They directed me to Windows event viewer, which you can search for. In that, under windows 10 > system and I checked for red !'s to see if I had any serious errors and one of them was my d drive error. So check that out if you’re having issues to see if you can narrow down any problems you’re having.
I just tried but it is not the solution for me
