Game doesn't launch but is running in background

• System Information

Windows10 PrO, i7 processor, 32GB RAM, 500GB empty space on HDD, Geforce GTX1070

• What is happening?

Every time I try to launch the game it runs in background but nothing pops up on the screen.

According to steam, I’ve spent over 60 minutes in the game, but I never managed to get it to work.

There’s a lot of people with the same issue so there have been a lot of troubleshooting steps shared, so far I tried:

• driver update
• firewall/ permissions change
• AGS folder removal
• reinstall
• reinstall on another harddrive
• launching PC in clean boot
• re-installed easy anti-cheat
• updated windows
• disabled tcp/ip 6

edit: I also cant close “the game” on steam, the only way is to shut down the process in task manager and then restart the steam.

Same problem here. Similar build, also tried the same troubleshooting steps over the last couple hours. This can’t be on the user’s end. Glad I bought the “premium” edition

this fixed it for me:
Change system locale to English(US). It’s not an in-game setting. It’s a windows setting. go to start menu and type language > go to language settings > on the right side you should see Administrative language settings link.

Maybe this will help others, but didn’t work for me. I’m already set to English (US). Still having the original problem.

There’s another thing you can try: in steam you change settings for different games. Make sure you disable overlays, controllers supports etc.
also, check your windows display settings- perhaps the game is being sent to another display. try changing resolution, reinstall display drivers etc. Good luck!

I have the same thing; apparently it is ‘running’ but nothing is launched. And the only way to kill the program is either through Task Manager or restarting the PC.

This is my error. Had it before, occurring even after I wipe my drives and did a full format of my computer. Reinstalled all the latest drivers, but still no juice. Tried all the solutions on internet, even removing the .sys file and what not, and still the same.

What size monitor are you using? I had been trying to launch it on my 4K tv and found that when I scaled down the resolution of that display to 1080 it worked like a charm. Well first I had to go remove the “run as admin” that I had previously enabled, but after that it worked

I resolved this issue by going to properties and enabling windows DPI scaling

try this fix, it helped me. Launch the game through steam library after you go through those steps.
