Game Feedback: QOL improvements needed

Been playing the game now for quite some time. (off and on since very early alpha stages; approx 2016; of the game), and though that is rather irrelevant to the current phase of the game, hopefully it gives a bit of insight of where I come from as a New World player.

Since full launch, have put about 1500 hours into the game (at the time of this unedited original post), again, as irrelevant as that might be, it should still provide some insight as to where I come from as a New World player.

Having that said, I have put some thought into the following as feedback for the developers:


1. The Camp (and skins):
Allow us to find or craft skins that not only change the look of our camp, but provide some sort of ā€œin the fieldā€ ability to change what we can craft at the camp. Example; We get our smelting up in some of the capital cities, which then allows us to craft a special smelting camp skin that allows us to smelt out in the field. Same for the other gathering professions in this case.

2. Weapon Expertise: [[ THIS ONE IS ON LIVE SERVERS NOW! THANK YOU AGS! ]]
Perhaps show weapon expertise in the weapon mastery window like this so we don’t have to constantly swap weapons to see what that weapon’s expertise is at:

3. Crafting stations & crafting gear:
Perhaps add the ability to put our crafting gear on the crafting station in any given town that has the stations. (photo example below) In the photo example given, I am showing a smelter, at the top of the screen, you can see a set of clothes that were added to the smelter, in this case, I’d be missing the smelter’s hat, but would have the rest of the set added to this crafting station. Would make it easier to keep track of crafting gear, and get it out of our inventory so we don’t have to carry it around. (Would be amazing to link the stations together so the crafting gear was global, but not necessary) (credit: crimsonsword)

**4. Storage Shed / Armory
Players are juggling armor sets in their inventory on a daily/weekly basis just trying to keep up with mutated expeditions, farming, crafting, and pvp. Give players the option to unload this burden into the storage shed via an armory option with a few preset loadouts players can fill, so they can just swap with a click of a button, and the armor stays in the storage shed so players don’t have to carry it around with them. (When they click a loadout button, it equips those items onto the player, all other items are swapped back into the storage shed). Makeshift photo of an example given below:

5. Storage searching:
When we are looking at things on the trading post, we can filter by adding a perk/ability trait to narrow the search. Would be extremely nice if we could have this ability on our storage sheds too.

6. Dodging in PVP:
I’m not sure how this could be changed, but people should really have to think twice when solo and jumping to engage against 5+ other players. Simply rolling away and those 5 not being able to catch the 1 person does not feel good at all. If that 1 person engages, they SHOULD get stomped in a 1v5.

7. Boars in starter areas:
Every other mob in the game seems to leave you alone when you’re level 60, with the exception of the high level zones… not the boars in the starting area, they agro you from a mile away, even when they aren’t looking at you. Not sure why this is, but when trying to farm some simple Hyssop there, it gets rather annoying. Which leads me to…

8. One shotting low level enemies:
Why can’t level 60s one shot enemies that are sub level 30? Why does it take 2, 3, and sometimes 4 hits?

9. Extra instrument noise when playing a song:
I have the in game instrument ā€œmusicā€ turned down to 0, but still hear the clapping from the music. This clapping should be coupled with the actual music so we don’t hear it when we turn the music itself down.

This one is in the game now! Thank you AGS!

10. Neishatun:
Neishatun has a ā€œtail swipeā€ ability, would love it if you could add the ability to have the boss’ tail swipe do damage to the orb if the players were clever enough to pull the boss over to the orb to do so. Doesn’t have to be a lot of damage at all, but enough that it would help players a little bit by doing a small bit of damage to the orb. (credit: respawned)

11: Boss loot tables:
Loot tables for bosses are far to expansive, take our boy Neishatun here in this example, he has 782 items that he could potentially drop. Lets say you only ran Tempest once each day and were guaranteed 1 of these items each time you killed him, it would take you over 2 years to get every item he drops. (Obviously this isn’t how it works, but RNG can be a pain). And given RNG, still, it could be years before you see the item you want. The loot pools need to be lowered… drastically.

12: Permanent map notes & pins:
Give players the ability to add permanent personal notes and map pins to the [M]ap. (they’d only be permanent until the player removes them from the map themselves)

13: Remove mutation weekly lockout:
I know this one is a hot topic within the community, but I’m noticing people don’t want to help in lower mutations because it goes against their weekly 25. The simple solution to this is to remove the weekly lockout. So what if people farm it like crazy all week, so what if people are selling umbral shards… Returning players everywhere are struggling to get anywhere because they can’t progress through the lower mutations as a result.

14: Add a PVP Track reminder:
I noticed a few times now that I keep forgetting to check my pvp track to realize I was maxed out on a track the entire time, effectively wasting valuable pvp xp on the track. Add some sort of reminder, or allow xp to flow over even if we haven’t completed the track yet. Ensure xp isn’t wasted. Perhaps add a mid-screen toast pop-up that notifies us, like this:

15: Trophies
Fix the trophy system so we don’t have to travel to all three owned homes to change out our trophies. Perhaps add another tab to the character [K] screen called ā€œtrophiesā€ where it lists our owned homes, and we can change out our trophies from there. Perhaps something like in the following photo/screenshot:

16: Shrines and fast traveling
Either increase the size of the shrine icon, or reduce party member icons when zoomed out on the map, it’s insanely difficult to fast travel to a shrine that a party member is standing on right now.

17: Storage Unique Item Limits
Just remove this, we’re already limited by the amount in weight we can add to each storage (+territorial bonuses on those storage chests), why have yet another function that limits players?

18: Alchemy crates
These are a joke. They need a massive buff - across the board. Getting 1 mote or 1 tier 2 potion in an alchemy crate just feels bad. Perhaps just remove the alchemy crates altogether and put a supply crate in it’s spot… then take the items that were in the alchemy crates and just spread them across all the current crates that exist. Seriously though, these are laughable.

19: Increase gold cap
Either increase the gold cap beyond 500k per character, or give players some sort of gold storage chests they can put in their homes to increase the cap. When was the last time any MMO had a 500k cap outside of New World? lol. Who cares if someone farms up enough gold to reach the new 10 million cap, if thats how they want to play the game, let them.

20: Remove broken items from inventory
Some of us have items in our inventory that can’t be salvaged, can’t be dropped, and can’t be moved to a storage. (because we salvaged the armor items from the quests before it was fixed that you couldn’t do so)… please remove these. Examples are these items:
brokenitems
Transference Icon, Transference Ward, Transference Charm, Transference Seal.
Please please do this so things like THIS don’t happen again.

21: Stop creating items that can’t be salvaged or dropped
Just as the title of this one says, it’s difficult enough to move and shift things around when we have weight limits, stop creating things that we can’t salvage or drop on the ground.

22: Remove housing item cap, or increase it
Some people out there have created some really unique and creative styles for their homes, remove the item cap, or increase it so they can decorate further - especially as you add new housing items to the game both obtainable via events and through the shop.

23: Add a ā€˜barbershop’ of sorts
Give players an option to re-do their character customization via an in game barbershop or something similar. Some people might’ve been a bit hasty at the character select screen all those months ago, and would love an updated fresh look!

24: Remove the housing light limit
Why are we limited to only 4 lights in our homes, regardless of light type? Remove this limit. If I want to create a glowing beacon brighter than the sun in First Light, I should be able to do so. Also, if I want to create a Brightwood Bed & Breakfast, who would stay there or eat there if it was poorly lit?

25: Convert xp (at max level) to gold rewards
Since xp is lost on max level players, convert this into obtainable gold. People would be more apt to complete the entire quest line in every territory if they knew they were going to yield some gold gains off of them at 60. (credit: akinsdusty)

26: Add an inspect player feature
Give us the ability to inspect other players, but have it be for cosmetic purposes only. See a hat skin you really really like? Should be able to inspect that player to see what it is, but inspection should not show things like gearscore or itemization as doing so would create a toxic player environment of judging someone and not bringing them along for expeditions or pvp.

27: Skins
When an item drops, have it add to our character’s skin selection list. Also, allow us to dye skins we buy from the shop. Would add more variety and uniqueness to each individual player.

28: Dyes
Add pure white and noir black as dyes to the game.

29: Depths mutated expedition timer
This timer for gold needs to be more forgiving. 30 minutes is just too short, we ran an M5, and still ran 12 minutes over, with no wipes.

30: Invasion Shards
Include umbral shards in the invasion chest at the end of the invasion. Scale it based on a win or loss. (credit: greekwitch)

31: Increase mine/tree/harvest nodes and spawn rates
Right now, it only takes 1 other person farming your area to make using consumables to increase luck and yield feel terrible… makes it feel like such a waste. We need more nodes of every type, and spawn rates need to be faster.

32: Hire actual human game masters
Hire humans to have human eyes that can see tickets that pop up regarding the bot problem. Using algorithms and hoping players will report them is doing nothing. Players don’t report because they don’t think it does anything. We need actual human eyes from AGS in the game on any given server, looking and finding bots. If players can spot a bot after watching it for 10 seconds, why can’t AGS?

33: OPR
OPR should scale somehow. Someone who has only completed, lets say, 5 pvp tracks - shouldn’t be queued against someone that has completed, lets say, 50 tracks. It is difficult for new and returning players to jump into OPR pvp (or even open world pvp at this point) because of the gearing issue. (personally, I don’t think dodge-roll defenses should stack per piece that has them, on top of that, but also stack with resilence, but thats just my opinion). PVP should be an even playing field so its easier to just jump right in and go. Going into OPR right now, as it stands, is just submitting yourself to get 1 or 2 shot by everyone. It feels bad. 34: AFK timer (its terrible)
Fix the system coding to recognize I’m doing GAME STUFF even thought I’m not pushing WASD. Like, when I’m selling lots of things, or searching the Trade Post… or when I’m fishing… it is seriously frustrating to have the AFK timer ask me ā€œare you still there?ā€ Like, no shit I’m still here - you can tell I’m clicking mouse buttons! The system designed to prevent bots doesn’t do that at all, it prevents real players while doing menial tasks that doesn’t have them pushing the WASD keys. i.e. fishing, selling, storage management… (credit: Nekkro)

35: Customizable Crosshair
Allow the affixed crosshair to be customizable, different shape, different color, border, etc. Would make it easier to see for some of us with poor vision, color blindness, or any other given reason someone wants to change it. (credit: greekwitch)

36: Capturable zones
3 zones remain uncapturable, despite being in the game for as long as I can remember now. Shattered Mountain, Great Cleave, and Edengrove. I would vote to make at least 1 or 2 of these player-capturable. Perhaps Great Cleave and Edengrove since Shattered Mountain is still an ā€œend gameā€ zone of sorts; I’d even venture to say that when AGS adds a raid to the game, it’ll probably be in Shattered Mountain at this point. Add a capital/fort to Great Cleave (especially since its a lower level zone compared to the other 2), and make it player-capturable for sure. Edengrove I’m on the fence on, but could see this as a possibility. Shattered Mountain still an end game zone, probably not.

37: Corruption portal coin gains
This could be increased exponentially. There should be incentives to closing these portals, and right now (outside of Shattered Mountain), it doesn’t feel like there is one. Increase the coin gains from closing them and we’d see more people closing them.

38: Searchable perks in storages
Why must we be forced to hover over every item in our storages when looking for our gearsets? Allow us to search storages like we can search trading posts. Give us searchable perks in our inventory/storages!

39: Multiple characters on a single server
Those with more than 1 character on a server due to the server mergers that happened, should be forced to move one of those characters to a different server/world set. They can pick whichever character they want to move, but should still have to move all until only 1 remains per server.

40: Global Siege Window
Give players an affixed global siege window that can’t be altered. This would stop shell companies in their tracks. (or make them figure out new, unique ways to continue to hold the entire map) - As outlined in this thread. (credit: zebr)

41: Stop nerfing EVERYTHING
What is the point of nerfing drop rates of everything while leaving bugs active? Scarabs only give 1 to 2 lodestone now? Only obtain 10 wooden coins per day? JFC… Dear devs, (and I’m screaming this so the devs wearing headsets with spotify turned up in the back can hear me): LET US FARM, STOP NERFING ALL THE DROP RATES INTO THE GROUND.

42: Equalize PVP
New and returning players are going to struggle in PVP (in all facets), so I recommend equalizing PVP (much like Lost Ark has done) in instanced type PVP (OPR, Wars, etc), to put all players on an equal playing field in an attempt to make it fair for everyone.

43: Capturing points in Wars / breaking down doors
We shouldn’t have to cap all 3 points in a war before being able to break down a door, if a point is captured, that door should become susceptible to attack… Wars are never fought cleanly in the history of war… if there was a weak point, and the attackers knew about it, they made use of that weakness. Same should apply here, if a point is captured, that is the weak point, full on send mode to that door should be the result.

I am 100% on board with these ideas:

The Camp (and skins) : I would love to be able to refine my wood or ores while I’m out farming to reduce weight and keep going instead of porting back to town. Sometimes, when you’re in the farm groove - it feels bad to leave the area! :slight_smile:

Weapon Expertise : YES! I can’t count the number of times I have to go find a rando-weapon to equip just to check it as I’m leveling the expertise on everything

Crafting stations & crafting gear : this would be heaven! As long as I could equip/unequip from the station to move to another city for a buff there, etc.

Storage searching : most definitely! when I do a Chest Run, I would love to have the ability to filter the perks so I can quickly find the ones I want to keep rather than take 20 mins to hover/examine each one.

Permanent map notes & pins : and the farmer in me would be SOOOO happy - to make perma notes on my own map of where I find something I want to come back to later…

Well done, Majeye! And very nicely added images, too! I do hope these get looked at with some serious consideration. I’d love to see one of these images become reality in a patch.

SHARDS: Include shards in the chest received at the end of Corrupted Invasions. Scale shards based on winning or losing.

These are all great ideas and should actually be implemented a long time ago. Some how the devs don’t focus on things like this. For example, the mutation cap of 25, why is that still a thing? How long do we have to complain about the cap for something to change? Do you want people to keep playing your game? IF so, remove the cap so that the people who want to only do mutations can farm them. Also, as Majeye mentioned, If i only have 25 mutations a week then why would i help new/returning players with lower level mutations? It’s pushing people away from your game.

These topics should honestly be implemented right away, throw a team of 3 or 4 on it and have them start adding some nice updates! please!

If i could i would do mutations all week, i actually made a second account just so i could do more mutations, why do i have to go that far out of the way just to play your game?

Other ideas: character/toon should be able to be modified (i.e., hair style/color, face /body composition)

Also, should allow the purchase of a 4th house, perhapsā€Tier 5ā€

Also storage number of items cap should be removed.

Also, need more female warrior based gear in the game and skins purchased in the store.

Also, allow items acquired in expedition chests and elite chests be NOT BIND ON PICKUP so we can sell through the TP.

Also, coin amounts need to be increased for doing town board quests and other types of quests.

Yes - add a ā€˜barber’ to sink some coin into - let me redo my character’s hair at the very least… So many of us made quick characters with appearances (and names) just to get started in that long queue at the start… that now? well… I wish I could change (both appearance and name; in fact I’d pay real money to change my name, even if I could only ever do it once EVER).

Would love a new tier house, too! More things… more trophies (which - also want to say YES @Majeye - fantastic addition to the original thread there)

Could not agree more. Tonight in fact - looted an Alchemy Stockpile (you know, those large ones in Myrk?) … received 1 common focus potion. No joke.

I have a stupid item from the Shrouded Intent boots that I immediately salvaged long ago (before devs ā€œfixed itā€ for new players making it unsalvagable… but what about us old players???)

Love all this! I’d also like to add that it would be nice if the generic XP that everything rewards was useful past lvl 60. Doesnt have to be anything crazy, just like a loot drop or some gold or something when you would earn enough to level up again.

So many other MMOs convert XP to gold (coin) when you reach max level… it does make sense - why would this one not do something similar, as you said. AGREE!

Added this to my list!

every 1 of these points are great and I hope AGS reads this as its 100% needed. The only other one I would add in is a PVE track for exp - so you can keep gaining levels past 60 and earn rewards similar.
