Game freezing since 10/4/2021

I tried to change graphic settings and game froze. Now I noticed in event viewer that my system ran out of memory (16gb ram and 8gb page file on ssd), judging by RTSS overlay I wasn’t even nearly close to max memory. Can’t test now cause of huge queue on my server, will report tomorrow if it still freezing or that crash was related to changing settings. Btw this time game throw an error and report to devs window, which didn’t happen before downtime when this first started for me.

Ok so, I managed to play on my very high setting for about 5 mins with limting power input to 70%. Temps were fine, maxing at 60, but GPU Usage started at 100 and then stabilized at 90%.

Went again, turning all settings to low and keeping the same power option. GPU Load never went past 70…buuuut still crashed 2 minutes in.

I am beyond frustrated with this stuff now. It freaking worked and now it doesn’t. RIP this game until it’s fixed.

It would also be lovely to hear anything from a community manager. This ain’t the kind of topic where I complain about a burnt GPU, I just want to figure out what to do since again, it’s obvious that something changed since Oct 4th.

I notice everyone trying GPU tweaks but should we really be going through all these workarounds just to play something that was working fine before? I really don’t wanna mess around with my pc since it plays every other game fine. Still waiting for devs to reach out to us about this matter. Keep bumping this post guys!

Same than Moriwana. It was bad yesterday but at least it froze only for 1 min, now I can’t play the game at all, and I won’t change a setting working for absolutely everything else.

I didn’t tweak anything and not going to. Totally agree that we shouldn’t mess with our PC’s in any way. I already had issue where upon launching the game I didn’t see any servers and it’s been like that for almost 2 days, people suggested some IPV6 fixes, flushdns, router settings and other stuff, but it fixed itself just like it started. This game is just a mess in terms of technical state.

I think my crashes are related to discord’s hardware acceleration

I have found that my freezing stops if I change the power management setting in NVidia control panel to prefer maximum performance.

If I have that set to normal then it freezes on the character select screen.

This game appears to have been made kind of crappy so far.

I’ve been telling my guildies to hold off. Here there be bugs.

FYI: It is JUST this game. I can play Cyberpunk 2077 with NO issues at all!

I wanted to reply on this thread as I have on many others related to this topic. I am likewise experiencing the freeze/crash with audio still playing. I also have to alt +f4. I’ve tried all 6 of the recommended fixes in the one single post I’ve managed to find from the devs and none of them worked. I also underclocked my computer, no help. I’ve double checked my monitor htz, nope. I’ve changed every last setting to low, no help. I’ve clean installed old drivers, nope. I’ve locked power, nada. I cleaned out my pc, opened up the case, have house AC going straight through, sure keeps my computer nice and cool but doesn’t help crash. (Seriously haven’t seen this baby pop up over 60C since then lol.) I’ve now decided that it clearly isn’t just me and there is literally nothing else I can do besides buy an all brand new pc. Very disheartened by the lack of dev or community manager responses.

Played for 6h with no issues, farming, questing.

Was in town, opened map and game/driver crashed :sob:

Yeah, yesterday I didn’t update on the thread anymore but:
I cleared my DxCache, I cleaned my registry etc., I turned everything to low with 30FPS cap, no tuning from Afterburner aaaaaaaaaand I managed to play.

I then started to slowly turn up each option to see when it goes boom. I am now playing at my normal very high setting, 60FPS cap, with medium on Terrain, Post-processing and Textures. Still without Afterburner, I just let the GPU and CPU do whatever they feel.

I played for 4hrs I believe with no crash in or outside of town and closed the game normally.
I am no software engineer, but from my personal testing I feel it has something to do with the rendering of the game. I think moving in new areas or just making complex movements like rapier fleche suddenly spikes the GPU in order to render a lot of terrain and texture suddenly.

I don’t know if the DxCache and Reg clean-up actually helped, but the settings above+dynamic scaling in order to maintain FPS seems to have helped a lot somehow. Maybe it’s just an issue of login, crash, login, crash, login, play for 6hrs, so, randomness.

I guess I’ll just stick with what I have for now, and just hope it will be fixed sometime soon.

P.S: I also turned off V-Sync because I feel it had some awkward interactions with the display.

Yeah its pretty random

90% of the time it happened to me it was on the world map or trading post, the rest while in the world.

I haven’t changed stuff, 90fps cap, gsync, v-sync, 100% power limit.
Everything on low except for textures.

<2021-10-07 08:51:41.425>: [Info] (AZCore): [Rendering] Present failed, error code -2005270523. Attempting to recover…

Definitely something between the rendering and gpu driver imo

This guy seems to have cracked something. It might have to do with PhysX and/or Geforce Exprience:

Damn after the update a whole lot more topics about the game freezing has popped up. Devs keep saying the same thing too which baffles me… (VERIFY THIS, REINSTALL THAT, CHECK INTEGRITY, ETC) same copy paste post. I wish they would at least try to talk to us as a regular person not a simple BOT response.

For me the update lowered my performance. Slight lag issues and FPS is now 40ish and dips into the low 20s when pre update it was always capped at 60. Even during rifts and wars.

I have been playing today with 0 crashes full very high.

I don’t know what changed but again, here’s what I did recently:
Cleared DxCache, Cleaned Registry, Dedusted PC, Turned off any kind of hardware accelaration from Discord, Turned off Vsync.

Perhaps this will help, perhaps not, wish you luck <3

I didn’t change anything since yesterday and today played ~10h without closing the game just fine. The issue is with the game itself or servers, idk, but not on user side for sure.

I haven’t had crashes exactly but I get freezes every 5-10 seconds in game - all troubleshooting options exhausted (thanks Devs) and its gamebreaking. Kinda over it because I paid for a dead and frozen game.

Was not happening for a day or two, and today before the maintenance it happened 3 times in 1 hour. (even with the newest nvidia driver)

Still have the same error in event viewer “nvlddmkm stopped responding 4101”

yep yep looks like a memory leak was introduced. Never had any crashes since closed beta until last patch

I saw an interesting variant this morning. I was attacking an enemy and the video froze, but while it was frozen I heard attacks hit and the ding from the enemy dying. So the game is obviously still running, but the rendering is freezing up for some reason. I’ve also noticed I get fewer video glitches after moving the game to SSD. I suspect there are some issues with texture streaming (loading textures dynamically, for the lay people) that are causing the video to stall.
