Describe the issue you are experiencing:
After the update every time I go into a new area (fast travel) for the first ~5 minutes the game keeps freezing for between 1-4 seconds. I have noticed that the freezes tend to happen when one of the following things occur:
1: New players come into my field of view
2: Someone uses a spell effect for the first time (circle of healing, the hammer explosion, gravity well, etc.)
3: I look at a player house for the first time
4: Sometimes it just happens when none of the above happen but maybe I am just missing something
Other than the freezing my game performance is the same as it was before the patch (same fps)
Originally I thought this was caused by the large amount of players that are now playing but the freezes happen in expeditions as well.
I am running the game from an nvme ssd so that shoudn’t be what causes it. I do however only have 8 gigs of RAM so maybe something happens there.
The issue seems to be caused by some change in the rendering of the game since last update. The main things that I have noticed change since last time is that terrain has started loading properly since the update (before it would take minutes to load in properly)
Also not sure if this is relevant to the same issue but I have noticed that sometimes when I see certain spell effects (mostly the hammer forward explosion) all leaves and vegetation around me would dissapear and quickly reappear again. I had one instance where while standing near the gates of restless shore (the ones going towards the fort) all leaves from trees and most vegetation disappeard and it would stay that way untill I moved away from that spot. I haven’t been able to reproduce the gates bug since then.
I have tried verifying the files but it found no problem. Lowering my settings does shorten the freezes a tiny bit but even on all low they still happen.
Is this a bug or an exploit: bug
(if a bug) How did the issue effect your gameplay: It is pretty annoying to go around in cities and I can’t reliably do high mutations since I get killed during the freezes.

Thank you all for your input. I am sorry to hear you seem to be having sporadic crashes or disconnections.
Please try the following steps in order to troubleshoot this:
1- Please verify the integrity of game with the Steam integrity check How To run a Steam Integrity Check
2- Close other applications that may be taking up your bandwidth.
3- Switch to a wired connection.
4- Restart your router and modem.
5- Troubleshoot your firewall.
-Press Windows + R, type “firewall.cpl” into the Run window, and then press Enter.
-Click Allow an app or feature through Windows Firewall and then click Change settings.
-Look for the game in the list of allowed apps and features. If it’s present, make sure it’s checked, and that both the Private and Public columns have a check mark. If the app is missing from the list, you need to add it.
*Click Allow another app…, locate and select the app, then click Add.
*Once you’ve done that, you need to ensure that the app is checked, and that it has check marks under both the Private and Public columns.
6- Test your connection for packet loss or buffering. To test, go here and click the big Start Test button to start the test. Once the test is complete, the results are displayed.
7- Ensure all your Windows and driver updates up to date.
8- Verify you are not using VPN or proxy services. (Note the use of VPN is not permitted when connecting to our servers).

I get this problem as well, but it never unfreezes. I have to Alt+F4, pull up task manager, and then kill the game.
Relaunch, and then it’s good for a few minutes. It can then re-occur after a Fast Travel.

We are seriously back at the “verify your files” explanation? The lag in this game has been horrible from day one, people have shown their pings being bounced all over the world literally, and CoS was just shut down for maintenance with no notice after a huge day of lag and kick issues. It’s not us it’s the game. Please fix it.
This is exactly what’s been happening to me since the medleyfaire patch. Horrible experience that ruins immersion and makes the game unplayable. It’s fortunately not so bad in 5-person expeditions, but in towns and elite chest runs etc… it’s terrible.
same thing is happing to me but it very erratic and some time my screen actually shakes like it’s vibrating and the world ant still it happen in OPR A LOT and IN EXPODITIONS plz can we get some help i love the game but this stuttering it making it unplayable i can’t tank anymore because i usually stutter from abilities going off and it’s been since merge and even worse since update and also when the server is full it make it EVEN WORSE @Fenrirskoll
