Game keeps crashing? Try any of these steps!

Greetings adventurers!!!

We were aware about the game were crashing and we are working on it.

On the meantime can you please check these solutions?

Maybe one of them could help!

You can check on the New World Web site too for extra info and game requirements.

Fix 1: Verify the integrity of game files.

  1. Open your Steam client and go to LIBRARY. Right click New World and select Properties.

1.1

  1. In the left pane, select LOCAL FILES. Then click Verify integrity of game files.

  1. Allow the checking to complete. Then you can start New World and see if it crashes again.

Fix 2: Update your graphics driver

Prior to the release date, both NVIDIA and AMD have published the New World compatible GPU driver.

You can update your graphics driver manually, by visiting the manufacturer’s website (NVIDIA/AMD), finding the latest correct installer and installing step-by-step. But if you don’t have the time or patience to install manually, you can do that automatically with Driver Easy.

  1. Download and install Driver Easy.
  2. Run Driver Easy and click the Scan Now button. Driver Easy will then scan your computer and detect any problem drivers.

  1. Click Update All to automatically download and install the correct version of all the drivers that are missing or out of date on your system.
(This requires the Pro version – you’ll be prompted to upgrade when you click Update All. If you don’t want to pay for the Pro version, you can still download and install all the drivers you need with the free version; you just have to download them one at a time, and manually install them, the normal Windows way.)

The Pro version of Driver Easy comes with full technical support. If you need assistance, please contact Driver Easy’s support team at support@drivereasy.com.

After updating your drivers, restart your PC and test the gameplay in New World.

Fix 3: Make sure your system is up to date

  1. On your keyboard, press Win (the Windows logo key). At the bottom left corner of your screen, click the gear icon to open Settings.

15

  1. Scroll down and select Update & Security.

  1. Click Windows Update.

  1. Click Check for updates. Then wait for the process to complete. After that, restart your PC.

To make sure you’ve installed all the system updates, repeat these steps until it prompts “You’re up to date” when you click Check for updates again.

Once you’ve installed all the updates, restart your PC and check if New World crashes again.

Fix 4: Change in-game graphics settings

  1. Open New World. On the top right corner, click the gear icon to open settings.

  1. In the left pane, select Visuals. Then set Object details to High or lower.

Now you can play and check if the crash stops.

Fix 5: Increase your virtual memory

  1. On your keyboard, press the Windows logo key and type advanced system settings. Click View advanced system settings.

  1. Under the Performance section, click Settings….

4

  1. In the pop-up window, navigate to the Advanced tab. Under the Virtual memory section, click Change….

  1. Deselect the Automatically manage paging file size for all drives checkbox. Then select Customize size.

  2. Enter Initial size and Maximum size according to the physical memory of your computer. Microsoft recommends that virtual memory should be 1.5 to 3 times the size of physical memory. In my case, the physical memory (actual RAM) of my computer is 8 GB, so the Initial size for me here is 8 x 1024 x 1.5 = 12288 MB, and the Maximum size should be 8 x 1024 x 3 = 24576 MB. Once you’ve entered your size of virtual memory, click Set, then click OK to save the changes.

  3. Restart your computer and check if New World crashes again.

Fix 6: Delete specific game files

You should back up the files before deleting in case things go wrong.

  1. On your keyboard, press Win+R (the Windows logo key and the R key) to invoke the Run box. Type or paste %appdata% and click OK.

  2. Go to AGS > New World and delete the following:

  3. The savedata folder

  4. The user_preload_settings file

  5. Now you can restart New World and see if the game crashes again.

Please let us know if any of these info helps!

Good to see this finally acknowledged. The only fix for me was to limit the fps to 30 in the in game settings. Some people have experienced gpus failing from these crashes.

Yep, this is for sure a good thing it’s officialy acknowledged, and I got a little hope seeing this post!

But unfortunatly, I allready done everything you recommand, and even more. Like really more.

The only thing I didn’t did right was the size of the virtual memory, cause I’m at 32Gb of DDR4.
So I just tried it right now with the good values ans on my main drive where are the Game AND my Windows install:
Inital 49152Mo
Maximal 98304Mo

Reboot… Try on a nearly empty server with my “crash test caracter” everything in High or Lower and FPS capped… Crash in 2 minutes chrono:
tons of “Only part of a ReadProcessMemory or WriteProcessMemory request was completed. (299)”

I think I’m just gonna wait for your patch so…

Here is my big post, if you want to see what I allready try, just in case:

Now fingers crossed, and wait for a miracle hotfix… :space_invader:

After crashing 3 times today, with a total of 9 minutes of gametime and hours in queue, i will report back if this works or not for me. Just give me another hour so i can get into the game again.

Edit: I have played 40 minutes now without a crash, where i before only lasted 3 minutes. What i did was:

-Virtual memory tips written above.
-Went from 1440p to 1080 in resolution
-Changed monitor hz from 165 to 144.
I also adjusted some gpu settings in the amd radeon software
-Gave my gpu more %power -10 to +15%
-Upped the voltage
-Decreased the max frequency by 10-20 MHz (2500)

System - Windows 11
Ram - 32gb 3200 mhz
GPU - 6900xt (21.9.2 version)
CPU - 5900x

You need to give people some time to re-enter because of this crashes or disconnetcs… We should enter in 15 min without queue.

I’ve tried all the above steps to no avail. Have 32gb of ram so set my virtual memory to 96gb.

On Tuesday (launch) I was able to play for a solid 8-10 hours without a single crash. I then played again on Thursday and experienced a crash after about 2-3 hours of play, this occurred about 3 times before I gave up. Then yesterday the time it took to crash decreased each time and now this morning, the game crashes as soon as it starts the loading bar into the server.

My crashes are not just the game either, it completely resets my PC without warning or error. I’m tempted to drop the $ on a new video card if I knew it would fix it, currently running the min spec of a GTX 970.

I also took an extra step of trying 3 different versions of graphics card drivers in case there was a bug with the latest version (which was the only difference between my system between Tuesday and Thursday and unfortunately I can’t remember which version of graphics card drivers I was using on Tuesday).

edit: I ended up ordering a new graphics card so I guess I’ll see if that solves the issue next week when it arrives

None of these troubleshooting steps help. Game keeps crashing.

Setting FPS to limit of 30 doesn’t help either.

Setting GPU power limit down to 80 - 90% doesn’t help.

Uninstalling and reinstalling doesn’t help.

Updating Windows doesn’t help.

Verifying integrity of game files doesn’t help.

Deleting specific games files doesn’t help.

Increasing virtual memory doesn’t help.

Changing in-game graphics doesn’t help.

Updating video drivers doesn’t help.

What other magical troubleshooting steps do you need the consumer to perform?

Are the image links broken for anyone else? Turned off adblock for the page and they’re still broken/not loading lol.

EDIT/UPDATE:
I made a post previously regarding this issue ( here )

Everything I’ve tried that has NOT worked:

  • Updated my drivers & made sure Windows was up to date
  • Verified the integrity of the files
  • Uninstalled and reinstalled the game
  • Deleted the savedata folder & user_preload_settings file
  • Lowered my graphical settings to medium(I have the Nvidia EVGA 1070ti, so this really shouldn’t have been necessary)
  • Capped my FPS in-game at 60 (and then down to 30 with 60 didn’t fix anything)
  • Capped FPS to 60 in the Nvidia app
  • Allowed New World application through my firewall
  • Flushed the DNS
  • Tried playing in windowed mode
  • Monitored GPU temps (nothing out of the ordinary)
  • Updated my Bios
  • Increased virtual memory (after seeing this post from the devs)

Increasing the virtual memory appeared to have fixed the issue, but after about 5 hours of play, the game crashed. After that It began crashing about every 40 minutes.

SECOND UPDATE:
As per MrHandless’ suggestion, after increasing my virtual memory & lowering my graphics (he turned his down to Low, I have my down to Medium) the game has been pretty steady. I’ve gotten two days worth of play without any crashes. I’ll continue to update my post if anything else comes up, otherwise try his fix for the moment.

not op but …I’m running i9-9900k with evga 3070…32gb ram and 650 psu…I’ve crashed twice now after 48hrs plus of perfect gaming…it happened both times after fighting minor breaches…I run every other game on ultra 1080p without fault…stress tested my rig for an hour today without fault…I’ve done all the updates that weren’t already done…I’ve monitored temps and never cracked over 70c on either cpu or gpu…during game play before.

Yes I’m having the same issues - especially in towns, camps, places with high population

i7 10700k
RTX 3080
32Gb RAM

have tried all the trouble shooting tips - still crashing

Here’s what I don’t understand.

This was something reported by 100’s if not 1000’s of users during both July/Aug Closed Beta Test and the Open Beta Test at the beginning of Sep.

The fact that I was contacted by one of you all to provide more information but was limited in doing so since the game wasn’t crashing, just outright freezing but the sound still plays even after a complete OS reinstall and loading only required Drivers, Updates, Steam and New World, literally the only things installed on the PC and yet as soon as the game would load to the character screen, once clicking play and hitting the loading screen it would insta freeze, no error nothing, just unresponsive and it would have to be ended via the task manager.

It’s incredibly disappointing to see that thousands of users were completely ignored and left in the cold in regards to being able to play your game in any manner of stability.

This issue needs to be fixed and should be priority #1 over any server expansions. If you can’t even load the game without it crashing instantly, during load, randomly while playing, then stability should be first focus.

Best solution, if you ordered from amazon directly, have your bank cancel the payment. If you got it through steam, it’s a lot harder to get a refund since they don’t care if you had 72 hours in queue and 30 seconds play time.
