The game needs venders that you can sell weapons and gear to. I run tons of dungeons and do portals and the gear is useless. I scrap it and get nothing after I’m capped for scarped gear. On world of Warcraft you could sell all unwanted gear back for a gold amount. something is better than nothing.
Think about having the faction venders be that NPC you can sell things back to instead of scrapping. Thanks in advance.
A troll I am not. I genuinely am against adding vendors to this game.
Firstly, we already have inflation in the game. The value of items that should be worth much less are higher than they should be so very few items actually has little to no value. You can easily sell most items on the trading post.
Gear can be salvaged for gold and repair parts. Consumables you can use or sell. The ones that don’t sell are not worth anything because no one uses them. If no one uses them why would a vendor buy them? Vendors buy them to use or resell in a RP sense. No adventurer uses them so there is no demand so there is no value why would an NPC buy it?
Secondly, we already have inflation in the game. The money generated is more than the money sinks going out. Vendors would accelerate inflation. Making high end items even more expensive.
Thirdly, buy orders can function nearly identically to a vendor you just have to the trading post and use it.
Fourth, these items that have no value. They need to be addressed rather than giving them a value to convert to inflationary gold. Iron cartridges shouldnt drop in high end chests. common potions shouldn’t drop in anything beyond t2 zones. The drops in chests from high end content should be the high end versions of those consumables. If they did that the value of all those items would be reasonable and the trading post works.
Just like anygame even ones with vendors some things you just destroy because even the vendors don’t value them and they aren’t worth the bag space.
Lastly, vendors introduce exploitable economic situations where actors can exploit other players ignorance for large capital gains. Look at things that have happened over the years in games like wow where you buy stuff cheaply or go farm gray items that are unreasonably high value of how easy they are to come by. The vendor shouldn’t assign an intrensic value to an item.
Player utility should.
Would vendors be a convenient thing for lazy people? Yes. Does it fix the underlying problems? No, it creates more problems.
