Game Periodically Crashes Since Launch

Hi

I’ve been playing occasionally since launch and have consistently had an issue where the game will crash. It does not usually happen until i have been playing for close to an hour or so but sometimes it occurs sooner. The game just freezes for a minute or two before closing on its own. No error message etc. If I just rerun from steam, it appears to happen again much sooner. If I restart my PC, it seems to not crash for another hour or so. The crashing is not immediate and is not preventing me from playing but it is consistent and makes for a less than ideal experience. There is no specific action that causes the crash. Sometimes it crashes when i click a crafting station, am just moving through the world, etc.

I have tried increasing virtual memory, verifying the game files in steam, updating GPU drivers and windows and deleting local game files. None of this has helped me. I at one point un installed the game and reinstalled it as well, same problem.

My computer: Windows 10, intel 11600k, 16 gb 3200 MHz ram, RTX 3060 ti, 148 gb free space on SSD. I will try to find the instructions for posting the game logs here as it just crashed again this morning.

Thanks for any help.

Hello Docdeg,

I’m so sorry you’re having issues within New World.

I really appreciate you’re communicating to us about this issue.

For this issue you can follow this troubleshooting related with Windows 10 files:

  1. Open Windows search bar.
  2. Open the command prompt.
  3. At the command prompt, type the following command, and then press ENTER: sfc /scannow.
  4. The sfc /scannow command will scan all protected system files, and replace corrupted files with a cached copy that is located in a compressed folder at %WinDir% \System32\dllcache.
The %WinDir% placeholder represents the Windows operating system folder. For example, C:\Windows.

Note Do not close this Command Prompt window until the verification is 100% complete. The scan results will be shown after this process is finished.

This link is the direct instructions for this troubleshooting: Use the System File Checker tool to repair missing or corrupted system files

If this troubleshooting doesn’t work you can also verify the third party program EasyAntiCheat that is linked within New World:

  1. Open New World in your Steam Library.
  2. Right click on New World’s list title and then Go to Settings < Manage < Browse Local Files.
  3. Open the EasyAntiCheat folder.
  4. Run as administrator EasyAntiCheat_Setup executable file.
  5. Make sure in the drop-down within EasyAntiCheat Service Setup New World is the selected game.
  6. Press Repair Service.
  7. After this process verify Steam Integrity Check files: Steam Support :: Verify Integrity of Game Files (Steam Support :: Verify Integrity of Game Files).
  8. Re-launch New World.

Please let us know as soon as possible if after these troubleshooting the problem persist and share your logs with us.

Thanks for all your feedback and specially your patience. :mage:t2:

I just got the problem again. This solution did not work.

Hello Docdeg,

Checking the logs you shared we need to manually configure the DNS settings within Windows 10.

To change the DNS settings on Windows 10 using Control Panel, use these steps:

  1. Open Control Panel.
  2. Click on Network and Internet.
  3. Click on Network and Sharing Center.

Click the Change adapter settings option in the left pane.
Source: Windows Central
Right-click the network interface that connects Windows 10 to the internet, and select the Properties option.
Source: Windows Central
Quick tip: You’ll know which adapter is connected to the network because it won’t have a “Disabled” or “Network cable unplugged” label.

  1. Select and check the Internet Protocol Version 4 (TCP/IPv4) option.

Click the Properties button.
Source: Windows Central
Select the Use the following DNS server addresses option.
Quick note: When you select the option to specify the DNS settings manually, the device will continue to receive the TCP/IP address from the DHCP server (router).
Type your “preferred” and “alternate” DNS addresses.
Source: Windows Central
If you want to use Cloudflare, Google Public DNS, or Cisco OpenDNS, you can use these settings:

* Cloudflare: 1.1.1.1 and 1.0.0.1
* Google Public DNS: 8.8.8.8 and 8.8.4.4
* OpenDNS: 208.67.222.222 and 208.67.220.220
  1. (Optional) Click the Advanced button.
  2. Click the DNS tab.
  3. Click the Add button.
  4. Specify the alternate DNS server address.

Click the Add button.
Quick tip: In addition to adding more addresses, from this tab, you can also edit and remove resolvers, and you even have an option on the side to change their priority.

  1. Click the OK button.
  2. Click the Close button.

Next, we need to flush DNS using the following steps: (I use Windows 10)

  1. Navigate to the desktop
  2. Right-click the Start button (the Windows logo in the lower-left)
  3. Choose Command Prompt (Admin)
  4. When asked whether to allow Command Prompt to make changes to your computer, select Yes
  5. Type “ipconfig /flushdns” and press Enter
  6. Type “ipconfig /registerdns” and press Enter

Please let us know if this process helped you out. :mage:t2:
