After launching the game, sometimes a few minutes, sometimes closer to an hour, the sounds cuts out. It’s only New World, any other sound playing on the computer continues just fine. I’ll put all the technical stuff at the end regarding my setup. This has been going on since i started playing. When the sound quits, i can alt-tab out to the sound settings in Windows, and toggle the Windows Sonic for Headphones setting and that’ll bring the sound back for a few minutes, but then it’ll quit again. It doesn’t matter what the actual setting value is, on or off, toggling it gets the sounds back temporarily. The only other thing that works is completely quitting the game and starting over. To date, i have:
Continuously made sure Windows 10 is up to date
updated my sound card drivers
uninstalled and reinstalled my sound card drivers
removed the sound card from the device list and let Windows re-discover it and install drivers from scratch
continuously made sure graphics drivers were up to date
run Steam as Admin
run New World as Admin
uninstalled and reinstalled the game
uninstalled and reinstalled Steam
bought an external sound card and plugged it in via USB, using it’s own software/drivers
used both headphones and speakers
plugged them into both the back sound panel and the front (and the external card)
updated my motherboard drivers (all of them)
updated BIOS
disabled communications within New World
used both Headphones and Home Theater settings in New World
turned the setting off and on for allowing music to play when the game is not the focus
played full screen and windowed
Finally (because i was going to do it anyway) completely replaced the hard drive and fully reloaded the entire machine from scratch, including all the stuff i mentioned before.
The sound still cuts out after a few minutes of playing. It sometimes comes back on during the interim screen when fast-traveling, but then it cuts out again when the gameplay itself resumes. I’ve probably tried other stuff i’ve forgotten. No other games do this-not even other Steam games, no other applications with sound do this, just New World.

Didn’t have enough room to post a DxDiag, but i’m using Windows 10 64, Intel Core i5 6600k, RealTek HD Audio (onboard), 16GB RAM, NVidia GeForce GTX1070 8GB video card, 1TB M.2 Samsung 970 EVO Plus hard drive, MSI motherboard (Gaming Pro Carbon, i forget the exact model name)
