Sorry to hear about this issue when the first steps to fix the stability on the serves are being implemented.
Thanks for sharing a big description of the issue and add the pictures!! For this case a normal troubleshooting will not provide any help. I will escalate this with the Devs and will post here any answer or solutions the can provide to me.
For the record of this process will be great if can provide your in-game Name and the logs.
Hope you doing great. I have the troubleshooting provided for the Devs for your issue. Please follow all this steps and confirm if the issue is fix. Thanks for the help and info provided!!
– Instructions –
First; verify in your PC:
Check for windows updates
Second; follow this steps.
Try to manually add exceptions to the Windows firewall:
1- Press Windows + R, type “firewall.cpl” in the Run window, then press Enter.
2- Click on Allow an application or feature through Windows Firewall, then click on Edit Settings.
Look for the game in the list of allowed applications and features. If it is present, make sure it is checked and that the Private and Public columns are checked. If the game is not in the list, you must add it.
3- Click on Allow another application…, locate and select NewWorldLauncher.exe, then click on Add.
Once you’ve done that, make sure New World is checked in the Private and Public columns.
You can also ask for more details:
The type of connection the player has (wifi, cable, hotspot etc…)
thanks for responding but I’ve already done this solution since the problem started to happen, its still the same outcome. I’d ask you to send these threads also to devs as there is some responses in them that seem like they know what is happening, and even if they don’t the devs might have an idea and could add a fix instead of these generic firewall solutions that just don’t work. this is the only game I’ve ever played that has literally took over my bandwidth and dropped my internet connection
edit: I responded as I’m one of the ‘linked’ other problem tickets.
I will assist if needed to troubleshoot. I’d even do it with someone on the phone to do exact testing to see if it can be replicated for an event. I’m willing to devote time to assist in fixing the issue. I love the game. I want to be able to play it but from what I see there is a network issue.
I have done all of that. I’ve turned off my firewall.
I have an IT Security background, and IT in general. I’ve done way more troubleshooting than you listed.
I know the problem. The game is sending a large amount of network data to connections that cannot handle it. You ignore ‘low bandwidth’ setting for TCP connections. The gameplay is using UDP.
This is like trying shove a waterfall down a garden house.
Game logs will be of little help when it is network traffic. There is zero information in them. I’ve looked at them.
I have Data that is useful, but it’s going to be big, large, and not something I will put on pastebin as it’s IP related information. It also will be too large for it. (60-100mb) per 15min of data packet capture. I can put it on my google drive and share that link via DM.
The data is network packet captures of everything the game sends to me. I don’t decrypt the actual data, but all the header information is sent over the internet. I have that and with it you can see traffic, what it is doing and the problems. This is how you troubleshoot network issues in real world situations. A developer can match up what should be sent when and where from the server and look at the kind of problems they are causing.
(The game causing a DDOS on itself)
TLDR: NewWorld has random data pushes that exceed 10Mbit and lower connections.
The data exceeds what can be handled isn’t acknowledged and then it pushes it anyways, causing duplicate and more traffic congestion. This isn’t recoverable in the time it takes to timeout. When it’s busy it’s constant.
I don’t know why you have massive data pushes. Location data of players is small amount of data. Unless there is something wrong like pushes all locations, every skill they hit within 1KM. Which shouldn’t happen as anything outside of someone’s visual range in game should never be sent unless needed (aka in a group). It’s wasted traffic.
You are absolutely right. Game shoves insane amount of data at user but what’s weird that wasn’t the case at the start and that’s not always the case for all players on same connection but different machines.
I haven’t got this issue at the start. First week I was impressed how responsive game was and there was little lag even in cities, wars didn’t felt all that laggy too. I think two maintenances ago problem started randomly happening and after last one it’s almost constant in towns and random in the world. I don’t have any connection issues in other games. Of course I did all steam check files, firewall, advanced network adapter settings, bandwidth setting (on high setting it seems a little better, on low the worst), etc., no effect.
I can be only soul in weavers at 5 am (server Perseus so it’s rather empty then) and from nowhere I get constant 7Mbps incoming traffic, connection gets cut off or rather throttled to 5500kbps by surprisingly wifi card (Intel(R) Wi-Fi 6 AX200 160MHz) and doom circle of lag detected starts. My wife on same router with same connection can play without issues at same time as I am getting lag detected and disconnected constantly. Some wifi cards and ethernet controllers just seem to not like what this game is doing, it looks like some protective mechanism. There are cases on this forum that game doesn’t dump all this data at you on other network adapter, some people with 100+Mbit connections changing to wifi from ethernet cable solved issue, with other cases VPN does the trick (that’s the most intriguing to me). There is really something weird going on. It’s more prevalent on lower bandwidth connections but I don’t think they are the only ones affected.
I still get those bandwidth spikes but when I changed to windowed mode my game stopped lagging and I am no longer getting lag detected also wifi don’t throttle anymore. I will play longer in windowed mode and see if it stays good or it’s just coincidence. My connection can handle those bandwidth spikes but I am certain slower connections can’t.
It worked at first for hours. Then it stopped and when going back and forth between fullscreen and windowed it worked again but for few minutes. If I am determined I can play like that but it’s not a solution. What also works is getting timed out and reconnected 3 times, after 3rd I don’t have lag for hour or so. What triggers lag the most is interacting with town board, I can literally waltz through town full of people, nothing happens but when I interact with town board few minutes later lag detected. It’s so bizzare like our chars have corrupted data or something and server ddosing you with too much connections and data which aren’t acknowledged and you get cut off.
Strange I have been restarting the game when it happens but hit or miss if that works. Pretty annoying regardless hopefully we get some feedback on the issue
Same. Often i get Lag detected, Game starts totally random to suddenly use my full bandwith sometimes it recovers after 30 seconds sometimes it wont end for 5 minutes or more or till the game disconnects you…its impossible to play tank / healer / pvp, and everything started with update 1.02, never a problem before, dont know what they did but whatever it was ruined it…
I did try this when I was playing though and it didn’t fix it for me, tbh I gave up on the game, it’s been so long without a response from anyone and from posts and articles I’ve seen there’s a lot of problems with the game that makes me think that this issue will never be addressed
Was previously experiencing this issue once or twice a night during the first couple weeks of launch. as of the last few days its happening constantly, and today i’ve experienced it three times back to back within seconds of logging in.
I’m having the same issue of getting bombarded from an Amazon server with info like clockwork every 60 seconds. I have 2 screenshots showing the culprit during the spike and afterwards. I looked up the address for it and its an Amazon server on the West Coast, even though I am on USEAST. It shows me sending info to an East Coast Server and receiving from the West Coast server. I do not know if that’s part of the issue or not. But the problem is getting worse and makes it almost impossible to do anything other than a DPS. The address name is s3-us-west-2-r-w.amazonaws.com
