Ok so I recently made a post about what’s new and should I come back in 2023.
As you would expect the gamers full of hate went ham in there bashing me or the game but there were some gems mixed throughout. My biggest takeaway was from a lot of them “install it and see”. So I did!
Now to start this I’m kind of just your average normie or casual but with a lot of extra time that most casuals dont have and a lot of game design experience ill leave the games out but Unity, Unreal and a few other engines have been my sole tools of my work for many years. Even learned a little CryEngine when I started this game to understand the basics of it. This game ticked a lot of boxes for me at the beginning and I played somewhere of 500+ hours. At the end there something went super sour whether it be the bad 1 sided moderation and politics on this forum or the terrible game performance something just at the end killed this game for me.
I reinstalled the game today and here is my takeaway from a casuals point of view.
PvP has not changed much except now there is some cool ranked system (which I think is rad).
PVP will always be broken and no one will ever be happy when discussing it on the forums. Its just impossible to fully balance a game like this for PVP as much as this game wants to be a full PVP based game.
PvE wise this game has changed 100% since the last time I played. From instruments to a whole heap of new quests to a whole new zone. None of that was there when I left. Like how freaking awesome was it when I logged in this time and heard what sounded like someone playing an instrument and turns out it literally was. Then right after that there was a whole band. Excuse my french BUT THATS F@#$ing RAD! (as a music lover this made me super happy).
Game performance has improved but as I have stated a few times before in many posts the game suffers from this real time lighting bug which causes a lot of the visual issues you end up with sometimes. This can be solved by baking lights in areas that dont require real time lighting (which is almost everywhere). I have noticed it has been done a few places but even with baked lights they left the real time lighting on which defeats the point (baking also works well for dark areas like caves and crypts so you dont get light glitches where its pitch black and you have to reload the game to fix). Too many real time shadows which should be baked on to most stationary objects in reality real time shadows should only be on players and nothing else.
This game has improved and seems a lot more polished than it did at the start. Im going to play through all the new quests and the new zone, maybe hope for some good parties to get through some of these dungeons i never did. Also the game seems alot more fun now with the added little tidbits.
So that’s my Ted Talk (hella TL;DR and well I had time so word vomit it is).
What are some other reasons you think this game has improved? Please if you could leave out the PvP responses because as stated above No one is ever happy with PvP.
