the bots are irritatingly competing for resources. the devs not responding to cheating reports and actually banning the bots we see day after day is infuriating. when we catch the bots and get them banned, the economics of bot gold farming break down and they stop.
I feel you mate, I personally reported a lot of bots myself, and I think some of them are banned. How did you report them? Because if you did IN GAME, it doesn’t work.
THis is the only way to really report bots:
Oh, is that why I found so many cheap iron ore on the trade post? I bought it for so cheap I thought someone had mistyped. But now i realize I probably bought it from a bot.
Yes, but why do you have to get 2-3 times the material from a low level zone, which takes the “same” amount of time as gathering higher lvl materials.
Further more by going to low lvl areas you will not get the chance to loot better droppes by mobs your own lvl.
Further further more with the pvp-flag-gathering-luck-bonus, why should any low level be playing with pvp-flag on when they just gonna get steamrolled over by a much higher lvl player…
A solution to this is to have blended resource on higher levels areas or increase the amount of usable mats a high lvl player can produce at a refining station…
I can add that unfortunately i play on a server which apparently do not have any bot… iron ore and raw hide is expensive as ¤#%"¤ but there are node to go around for everybody so that is a plus
Yes, the layout of nodes and design of crafting system might be improved. Insulting people who play the game the way it is designed to be played is not warranted here in my opinion.
AGS doesn’t target bots individually based on reports. The ‘Report Bot’ thing is there to make you feel like you’re helping. AGS (like all mmo devs, really) relies entirely on their bot detection algorithm to locate and ban bots. And it doesn’t work.
I’ve never seen a bot in the game (that I would know). How do you recognize them? Are there certain behaviors they exhibit? Granted, I’m a lower level gatherer, but I do a lot of gathering, so I’m wondering if I’ve just been assuming bots are actual players and not being the wiser.
I am curious, is it even economical to run a bot under such circumstances?
You need an investment in a machine that is capable of running the game. Electricity etc. Then you need to make sure the resource sells, in order to have any gold. Then any chance to recoup that must be done by selling it on another platform for a pittance. I just can’t math it up.
Actually I think this behaviour lands on player hands.
If u own a company/guild speak with ur members explaining the situation ( in case they are not awared) and prevent em from buying for such a low price since it will affect em somehow in a close future.
Literally its impossible to fight bot’s army at a 100% success, they always find another way to keep cheating.
Holy shit we’ve reached the point where people are defending bots as a good thing.
Pack it in everyone, holy shit my sides.
They are usually factionless and wearing starter gear. they run from one node to the next and dont respond to anything you do. It’s actually pretty effective to follow them around but 50% of the time theyll get to the resource before you unless you have light armor on and can roll there
There are a few signs that raise gathering bot flags:
- Usually naked or in starter gear (not always),
- usually named something along the lines of MRAJ0997 (not always).
- Usually factionless (not always).
- Usually using flint tools instead of whatever is appropriate for their level (not always).
Simply fulfilling all of the above criteria doesn’t automatically mean it’s a bot, though. The real way to tell if something is a bot is to just watch how it behaves for 20 seconds.
Bots move from node to node in a very waypoint-like faction, and pause to attempt to gather regardless of whether or not a resource is there.
For example, you can see logging bots move from tree stump to tree stump and attempt to chop down non-existent trees in areas where the trees have already been chopped. Mote bots will attempt to harvest lifebloom stems that aren’t there. And so on.
Good to know. Thanks for the information.
They’ll run the same routes for weeks on end. They’ll run to tree stumps and try to interact, even though there’s no tree, or hemp or whatever kind of node. They’ll jump sideways randomly (this is in case the bot gets stuck on terrain). They don’t strafe. They’ll be level 40+ yet have no faction. Their name will be a random mix of lowercase letters. etc etc etc.
Not every bot is a goldseller bot. Players will run bots on the side for easy gold. Companies as well. It’s risky, of course—or at least it should be—but some people want every advantage they can get.
Yea, this is getting out of hand at a rapid state. I’m fully aware there’s going to be bots in any MMO and it’s difficult to get rid of every single one when on a daily basis, there’s always a new bot to take it’s place. I’ve noticed when the TP monetary system was down for a solid 3 days, there were no bots gathering. Why? Inventory is full and they had no TP to post their materials. So, what were these bots doing? They were hanging around the settlements spamming their left click movements so they wouldn’t be flagged for AFK. The other bots who didn’t have their inventory full were at least gathering and returning to settlements, touch base, run right back outside the settlement and resume their botting path.
The straw that broke my back this morning was watching a “naked” Level 37, non-faction “bot” mine a Orichalcum Vein with a Iron Pickaxe in Windsward, which the zone has one of the three spots that have Orichalcum vein there. It’s shocking how these low level bots can 24/7 grind mining and get to that level or even lower and start bot mining T5 Ore. How do I know this was a bot? Naked, with starter zone Sword and Shield equipped, non-faction, erratic movement pattern to nodes including Hemp and Mote nodes. Furthermore, followed this “bot” around and getting ahead of it’s pattern gathering nodes they were moving to. And wouldn’t you know, the bot tried to gather the SAME mote node I was gathering, moved onto another Soulsprout, again, bot went through the same gathering motions but unable to pick the same node.
It’s sad, it really is. New World needs a 2-step identification verification to rid most of these bots, it won’t be long before people bypass the 2-step to keep their bot in the game but in the mean time, at least the bot issue would dwindle to a halt. Every time NW is shut down for server maintenance, the bots remain, as soon as the servers come back up, the bot program automatically opens up New World and they are back in when the switch is flipped. Is there a human at the computer waiting for NW servers to come back up, start the game, run their bot program and they just let them run their course? I’d imagine It’s a 3rd party program that automatically opens New World. How? You need to click the icon to start the game. So, if these bots are programable to automatically open New World, how are they just all of sudden there to begin with without the ability to click on New World icon on their desktop or start from Steam application. How are these bots automatically playing New World? I just don’t understand how littered this game is with bots. And no, this isn’t my first MMO, been playing MMO’s since Ultima Online back in the 90’s. The botting has become more advanced more than anything now and it will drive New World back to square one if bots are not challenged. We keep hearing “we’re working on a solution to resolve the bot issue”. No, you’re not. It’s all smoke and mirrors at this point.
The same two bots named xiaobobo and xiaobobo2 one farms Iron veins in Everfall the other farms Iron veins in Windsaward have been BOTTING for about a month now. They are our “normal” botters in Valgrind (US East) server and reported daily yet they continue to bot. We need easy anti-cheat or 2-step authentication verification upon login. I don’t even want to know the bot to human player ratio on low pop servers at this point, there’s more bots running around outside Everfall and Windsward at any given time than players actually running around gathering materials.
On my server there are same bots on same spots every day. We have reported them dozens times and they are still doing their thing lol. Zero bans
They are directly linked to RM coin selling, exploit, and cheating. All three things ruin immersion and any incentive of a player to participate in sandbox chores. You want immersion and these are the bobbers.
