If only AGs could kept the different Tier Material Converters AND change them so we could use them on other raw mats MAYBE I wouldn’t be sitting on 10k Ironhides and almost zero Ironwood, sigh…
I agree with the fact that now is really bad with how many players are out in the world farming. Its hard to even farm on a regular basis given how many players are there out there.
But were you there when the there was no one? When we had multiple servers with 200-500pop? When you could farm all you want but still had no one to sell it or have a reason to craft.
It cant go both ways. We all wanted a livelier server. Here we are. Most if not all servers are at 1k++. Is someone beating u to a farming route? Then plan a different one.
It would be nice if more nodes spawned in depending on current server pop
Today I went for mining iron ore, but another player was already camping all the spots. It ended up us two running same path competing for iron ores for over 2 hours.
I would rate this 10 of 10 in toxic boring gameplay.

Make resources like chest and with a player cooldown!
Image if instead of us competing, we could gather together and maybe meet a new friend? Now its just frustrating competing eachother for hours. Bleh.
I agree. It’s not like node instancing has not been successfully implemented in other MMOs of the 21st century…
I made similar thread the other day, Imo instanced nodes with personal cooldown for each character is the best solution, making it long cooldown is also good so we have to EXPLORE if we want more mats, not waiting the same spot to respawn.
Even for trees and rocks since they’re everywhere and close together filling the whole map. I think 2 days or maybe more depending on how many the nodes are on the map since we don’t hv the data for that, but the idea is the best solution to every contested gathering resources area be it for plants, ores, trees, rocks, etc.
But can they change how the node look like for different people ? Chests have instanced nodes/personal cooldown but the object we see in the game remains the same, only the interaction is gone. How about iron node, starmetal node, etc, we see the object in the game and it changes to rubbles after that.
We all have limited storage anyway, so it won’t affect the economy too much , if an item like iron ores are too much on the server and noone want them price will go down, with price that low people will also dont want to gather for it and change to something more profitable, and it applies to other resources.
But something like that shouldn’t be part of the economy, or the economy comes second and gameplay experience is more important, everyone should be able to get their own materials out there at any time he sees fit, not contested by others wanting to do the same activity. The economy will have a new normal with this instanced nodes.
Gathering in contested area is really really NOT fun, I need iron since a few days ago to upgrade my trading skills, but I hesitate and do something elses because of the thought seeing empty nodes in a lot of places I’m going to visit. The frustration itself already cancels out a gathering resources feature in the game many times for me.

If they want to make it like this, make it pvp, so ppl can kill each other for mats, I ever played a game like that, it’s quite fun, politics will form among guilds, even people in the same guild can quarrel because of gathering spots lol. People will also behave themselves and not random killing when there’s a big guild hunting them.
So if people want to be able to harvest resources nodes, they have to turn on pvp, otherwise they can’t gather anything. I still like the instanced nodes than this, but in current state , make it pvp only for gathering resources is also one of the solutions and promotes pvp.

This will probably fix the bot problem too. respawn in x days , unless the bot is so clever like manual play lol.
While i see where you are coming from, i can honestly say there is just something about the “pit” in shattered mountain, everytime ive dropped down in there to maybe snag some ori and kill Pit Lord for a chance at the Corrupted Totem , ive been invited to a group, and end up spending a couple hours down there sharing Ori nodes with those present, and just chilling while we wait for the boss to spawn. Its almost like a completely diff world down there, the pit just seems to invoke some kind of chill on people its crazy. Sure a few greedball, mob kiting fomo peeps pass thru, but they tend to leave quickly. Its just something about the pit man. Cant explain it, but i wont question it either.
They have nailed the flag to wall over the contested resource model. It brings absolutely nothing to the game but causes a heap of issues, especially on high POP servers where it just ceases to function properly. If you a casual player on a high pop server, well forget it.
In fairness it’s a hangover from the sandbox survival genre the game USED to be, a lot of the systems are, which is why in a more standard MMO style game they fail. (Hiding crafting behind PvP game loops for example)
I cannot see them changing it, they appear to be extremely stubborn in the face of overwhelming evidence the model isn’t working. Fixing symptoms rather than the root cause.
I make this point as often as I can, and I am completely sure they ignore it every time. ![]()
24-48 hr node cool down? ok
(some)
NW players are something else I gotta say
I do hope they stay playing it
Another possible solution is to REDUCE the server population cap.
There are various benefits to a SMALLER server cap. And when it comes to RMT / botting, it makes it harder because a smaller server means bots are taking up space, and therefore reducing the real pool of potential customers and therefore reducing business. If there are too many bots, who’s going to buy all their botted goods? Other bots?
Less competition for materials also means less need for botted goods, and therefore less demand, less business, less RMT.
Just because a server has a smaller population doesn’t mean it can’t work: E.g., pre-merge Utopia: You call some place paradise, kiss it goodbye - General Discussion / General Discussion - New World Forums
Yea RMT, because I cannot gather myself, thus I cannot upgrade my trading skills, I buy coins from a site, since I can just buy what I want, skipping the hassle making stuffs which need trading skills which need materials that I cannot gather.
Easy peezy. I find an area that’s not being farmed, go there and… farm ![]()
Nothing to be frustrated about that way.
Unfortunately I am compelled to agree with this sentiment. It’s not like resource node instancing has not been proven to be an effective mechanic in other MMOs…
Another fun gathering story was when I was running around collecting Chests in Reekwater. I saw a level 30 guy mining Orichalcum. So I just stalked him competing his nodes for 2 hours, because this game is to make enemies and people hate you instead of making new friends. He left. I had about 3k Orichalcum Ores and my inventory was getting full anyway, but then a new guy got to the spot, so I had to stalk him also, but it only took him 5 mins before leaving. After he left I teleported to my house.

Ive brought this up as well. Leather has not suffered price drop due to being able to literally go out and farm however much pleases us. With that being said it is somewhat affordable. You could go buy a bunch if thats what you prefered. Im assuming the worry is coming from people who like the prices of cloth and wood being where it is. Which is unreasonable.
Yeah, affordable is not a bad thing, as the market has adjusted pricing due to availability of that particular resource. If they were to introduce node instancing, the other resources would also adjust accordingly.
I could be wrong, but I really do believe that if node instancing was introduced, a significant number of players would return to the game.
fascinating…
I gather every single day and I’ve never felt this way…
agreed… why are we turning gathering Hyssop into capture the flag. it would be different if there was only one Hyssop per day and you only needed one to make the ring of power… but I need 3,000 of whatever I’m gathering, I don’t want to have to fight for every single one, it’s just meh.
