Exactly why I think random spawn locations would be a better solution than instanced. Instancing the nodes will just mean that bots and players will be flooding the markets, with random spawns everyone has the same chance to find what they are looking for.
It would have a cooldown, just like chest, so materials would not flood the market because you are limited on how much you can gather.
If you want to spend hours gathering materials instead of doing Expeditions, Wars, Outposts etc, you should be able to chose your playstyle. This is what its actually about, because the underlying problem is that players CANT gathering materials at the current state.
I hate the idea of knowing where everything is and how much I am going to get, whats the point of it? Making it too easy just makes it a job and takes all of the fun out of it for me.
So we will just have to agree to disagree on this, I have cast my vote against instancing nodes and thats not going to change.
I could say 200 players doing elite chest runs is a way of CHEATING and IS FLOODING the market with 600 gearscore and legendary items. I bought my full armor set for 25 gold per piece which is really ridiculous to crafters. But I guess thats acceptable, but if someone wants to cut a Wyrdwood tree thats a no no.
I never said anything about the chest runs, I also think those are too easy and that it would be more fun to run those areas without the zerg, but most people prefer that āeasy modeā way of doing it. Personally, if I could I would make it more difficult to run in zergs like that, but its not up to me, soā¦
So, when you fail to provide a counter argeument you must resort to belittling a person?
I am not the one in denial. You should study other MMORPGās and see how they solve many of the problems New World faces.
I never said anything about my personal desires. I gave real in game examples that countered your arguments and I explained how other games have done it. But no where did I express for these to be implemented as āpersonal desiresā. In fact what others and I have suggested were mechanics implemented by games that have grossed over 1 billion dollars. Iād say that is the proof in the pudding.
And fun is subjective your idea is not fun for me and apperantly for other people too so the fun argument here is not appropriate at all and wont lead to anything productive
What is fun for you might be annoying for someone else and the opposite is true.
For example forced pvp is fun for a lot of people but also a lot of people hate it, single game cannot please everybody.
And nobody is forcing you to do it, the game should not revolve around your personal schedule and your personal desires, as i said single game cannot please everybody, if you dont like how the game works then either adapt or find another game which suits your preferences more, but stop forcing your opinion to others, and stop being toxic to everybody who has different point of view than yours, if you cannot have a constructive conversation then maybe reconsider your precious time wasted on the forums since it looks like you can waste hours in the forums but cannot spend 30 minutes in search of available matterials
The Definition of Competition: a situation in which someone is trying to win something or be more successful than someone else
Yes it is. You are Competing (Definition: striving against one another to gain or win something.) for resources. This natural competition among players in a multiplayer games. Different multiplayer games have different forms of competition. āScoreā is 1 of many types of areas of competition. But it is not the 1 and only form of competition. All Multiplayer has competition. Whether it is to be the best, the most efficient, the fastest, the strongest.
I donāt have a problem obtaining resources. In fact all my storages are full most of the time excluding new ones to fill. My advice to you is either stop using popular routes if youāre not fast enough. Learn or use less popular routes and or make your own.
Randomized resource locations are the best move, it upsets the bots, adds a goldrush feel, and makes it a bit more competitive without ruining the economy.
Theyāll just spawn within a 30m radius of their original location
I seriously cant believe many of you here⦠Let me try to answer to some of the suggestions or opinions:
āIt would ruin the economyā : NO. It would not, there are many games that are already giving you the ability to farm without the chance of wasting your time. Implementation of gold sinks is not something that is difficult to do. Everything gives gold right now, so what about reduce or remove those for starters for an example? No? Why? Is it because you can choose when you can play so you have time to farm resources so āto hell withā everyone else? Or is it because YOU prefer this game to be a survival even though its an MMORPG? either way, youre claiming something its not there. It wouldnt ruin anything except the people who dont want others to reach things easier than now, and thats quite childish and selfish.
āSome hours are betterā : Sorry but not everyone has this luxury or not everyone wants to make a game their second job. This is just ridiculous. A person who comes home from work should be able to farm whatever they want granted that they spend time on it. Yet, with the current system, its problematic, thatās the entire point!
Blizzard did this with gathering nodes for World of Warcraft. It obliterated the economy for a long while, since the bots had free reign on all the nodes at all times.
If they make it so that you canāt do this, they might as well as get rid of the ability to sell things on the market that you gather or craft with gathered resources.
Which wonāt happen, so while it can be frustrating when someone rolls up on you and steals your herb/ore vein/etc., it has a purpose, because resources are limited in quantity on a some-timely-basis. So 2500 people canāt farm a single iron vein and instantly inject 22k Iron Ore into the market in under 10 seconds.
Not only that but since the agro system is so mediocre in NW, people will attack mobs and they agro you because you are in their line of sight. Like what?
Every single game Iāve ever played ever, has a hate table. If you attack the mob, you get put on the hate table. Why would the mob attack me because someone else hit it. That doesnāt even make sense. Why is the mob AI so freakin dumb?
Stop letting gold sellers steal my nodes using mobs as a proxy for pvp. If Iām not flagged I shouldnāt be attacked by proxy.
Iām fine with that. BUT atleast make it so they canāt agro a mob on me to steal the node Iām smacking safely. If Iām not pvp flagged, using mobs to attack me should be considered griefing.
Every mmo with instanced nodes which i know off, has ruined economy of gathering matterials, examples are gw2 and ff14, in both gathering is a waste of time because bots provide resources very very cheep. So please feel free to give an example of mmo with stable economy for gathering resources which has instance based resources.
Competeing for resources has nothing to do with survival games, many teampark mmos also have shared resources as WoW, ESO etc.
Thats a personal preference which just suit your subjective view, stop forcing it to others please thank you. The only objective problem is bots, and ags should fight that, instead of removing yet another social aspect of the game and another type of competition. I am a person which has very limited time to play the game and i never had problems of gathering on my server which is full . Its up to you to find routes and optimize your gathering efficiency and gathering sessions and thats what makes gathering fun for many people including me. Also you dont need to gather in order to progress in the game so nobody is forcing you to do it if it bothers you.
