GearScore and Defense stats are nothing in pvp, only in pve

(edited, I read you to fast  anger is smelting my brain lmao ; agree 100% )

This explains why me a lvl 40 have been able to handle 60s 1v1… thought I was just a badass… kinda heart broken…

Well its not all about gs in guild wars or lost ark, but people still plays. Because pvp is not about killing players with outnumbering their gs but killing people with your skills.

By the way gearscore is equal for everyone in eso too. The only difference is sets. Which is good idea also, everyone doing their own build or meta builda. This adds more variety to pvp.
Well you can count on eso too. Gear score is scaled as same for everyone.

So its not all mmorpgs, because this idea died with wow. Because its a bad idea.
If you are pve player you can grind your gear score to outdps other players

Most all popular multiplayer centric games use a form of normalization for PvP. Guild Wars, Lost Ark, ESO, Destiny, etc.

I would prefer crafting to be more useful like being able to select perks, but Im happy about the gearscore normalisation. Without it, it will just boil down to time and not skill. No better way to kill new people joining pvp that for them to get smashed just because someone has higher numbers on a stat screen.

I’m having a hard time understanding why people are surprised by the scaling combat stats.

Is it because they’re scaled in a way you weren’t expecting, or because you just think gear should give an obvious advantage in PvP?

You can do just that with the instance gear. The only downside is that you can’t min/max the item slots as easily. IMO that is a decent balance. The biggest draw back to that is getting access to those instances regularly to farm until the update.

Arent those predetermined stats and/or limited to a max gear score? Thanks for mentioning it, Ill look into it again

If stuff doesn’t work the same way in PVP as it does in PVE then the UI has to make that abundantly clear. I’m all for separate stats for PVP (in fact I think it’s essential for a PVE/PVP game with stat based gear). But I didn’t know any of this until I read this thread. And that’s just not good enough.

They have predetermined stats that means you can select a perk as your default crafting option. They start at 500 and scale all the way to 600 (legendary) if you choose to do the standard buff/food stacking route to push for crafted legendary.

No point to play this game passed 45 and unlocking all gear slots. Better gear don’t mean better pvp. You’re wasting your time unless you just want to pve… oh wait none yall flag nvm this a pie only game anyhow lol.

Thank you!

This is true. Tested with my guild. Your GS and your phys/elem resistance makes no difference in pvp, only pve. You will take the same damage from a player regardless if your 600gs or 300gs. The only difference is the base stats you get from the gear and the perks.

I already said this but it’s a game killler

i already quit the game for this reason, there is no real reason to grind anymore and keep playing, already have gear 570 with resilent + CDR and weapon 590 + enchanted + keen.
I will not keep farming just to get +1 att point, its pointless.
Every time i log it feels like there is nothing to do.

Is it safe to say that all forms of pvp, are using this system currently?

Tests were made in duels and open world PVP. So yes, most likely.

So bascially they need to IMMEDIATELY STOP trying to balance weapons until they FIX THE FORTIFY AND REGEN STACKING. Literally no one knows how ANYTHING performs because you don’t know who is stacked and who is not… and THAT is what is making people think they are over/under powered at the moment. Ridiculous.

You dont think someone who has farmed the absolute max ilvl gear set for hours should be able to stomp a fresh lvl 60 who hasnt even farmed a single watermark? people like you are whats wrong with this game

No, people like you are what’s wrong with MMOs. Are you saying that your PvE grinding in Myrkgard for better gear should give you that much of a stat advantage in PvP that a fresh level 60 has no chance against you? As if boss farming has made you better at PVP?

People who farmed better gear should have an advantage, of course. And they still do, it’s been explained multiple times how. But the gear advantage should not be the be all and end all in PvP. It’s neither fun for those that want competitive fights nor is it encouraging new players into the game if they have the prospect of grinding for literal months before they can even touch you.
