Hi everyone,
I’ve somewhat recently swapped to spear/bow (occasionally musket in pvp) and have started running some mutations. I run in medium (I love the mobility in light, but, i feel more ‘comfortable’ in medium armor). I had some crafted to fit specific perks I wanted and such, and can comfortably do around a 3ish or so without really having any difficulty.
However , at a 607 gs I got MELTED in a M4 attempt. I was told that, above 4 and such, everyone (unless you’re a healer who can get away with medium) should really be in heavy armor, and that leveling your heavy voidbent is the way to go (until around 9, 10+s at least or so). How do you feel about that? I DO have a full heavy VB set but…I can’t get nearly as much perks into dex using it (I think I’d be around 150 con/300 dex or so in it? give or take).
I feel 200con / 250 dex helps alot, the 300dex bonus is meh compared to what you get from 200con if you are on high bracket of medium armor. Your dps will drop a bit but you will gain in survivability. You also have 2 fortitude attribute perks ( perforate perks , rain of arrow perks) that make you tankier. Edit : sorry didn’t read the M4 part so I’m not sure about wearing Heavy in Thoses )
Iam pure Light, I have no special perks and we easy finish M7 on gold (our healer needs higher GS to start M8, but shouldnt be a problem either).
All you need is 4-5 Saphire to reduce Void dmg and / or Infused Void Absorption pots. (for void mutation)
Iam going with ~170 CON: I didnt optimize it for the mutations, its my PvP build, just with some more CON on a few armor parts.
Playing with ligh or just having < 200 CON is quite a challenge, yeah… But it makes A LOT of fun… The first mutations I died several times (thanks god you still can easy finish with gold^^), but I didnt die since M5, I think.
You need to learn the mechanics and when to step back and its important to have a good tank and good communication (Discord).
And it helps to see some YT videos, because there are a lot of tricks to split special mobs, to time some events, to fight on different locations,…
Like everyone was telling me “you cant go in higher mutations with light”, but its possible and VERY fun! ^^
It’s not necessary. My group runs full medium except tank and we cleared through m10 laz. Haven’t pushed much dynasty yet.
You should be running 150 con to be safer and watch your position. Try to always stand behind mobs, and dodge everything possible. Also try to keep GS within 4 points of recommendation - this will help runs be smoother. If you are at -10GS you will get 1 shot regardless of armor class.
Ah very good - I was under the impression (for whatever reason) that i needed to stack as MUCH dex as possible within reason, so like with healers (I usually heal) alot of people go for far beyond 300 foc (even tho there is alot of debate on if it’s worth it to go beyond 300 or not etc). It sounds like I could theoretically still keep up with my medium (which is mostly at max medium, or very close, but drop down a little bit of my dex to add into con (I wana say I usually am around 100 con / 300+ somethin Dex (can’t remember off the top of my head). but that’s just when I’m dicking around on my own, doing regular laz, helping someone out etc.
If i bumped it down to less dex (<300 but >=250+) and 150/200 Con (depending on allocation of the dex portion of course) , it sounds like that’s totally viable without dumping a bunch of shards more into heavy VB. I did bump it up to like 606 or so (the heavy VB), but luckily that wasn’t too expensive shardwise anyways. My normal armor pieces are around there, too (minus jewelery, which is lower, but weapons are higher).
Perhaps ill just play around with stats before i go balls deep into the heavy vb idea. I also realized I hadn’t gemmed it specifically for the void (or fire), so that could have helped as well a little bit. And I def didn’t bring absorbption pots…but I think Ill invest in some of those being made too. Every little bit helps. it’s also fair to say that our healer wasn’t normally a healer, and hadn’t had experience healing laz (let alone a mutation) when we did this…so that was maybe a big chunk of the issue too. But now onward to a new week of mutations (if it isn’t laz again) so we’ll see what happens
I got my laz bow FINALLY last night, so, I can at least be happy there
