Get rid of ammo and replace it with Quivers and Ammo Pouches

There are plenty of post’s about Bow and Musket costs due to the high price of decent arrows. So how about a proper system to fix it? Unlike the PTR changes which do nothing to address high end tier ammo.

Quivers and Ammo Pouches
These hold infinite ammunition but are time based, similar to how Honing Stones work. The higher tiers would add more damage and last longer.

You should not be able to use Honing stones on Bow and Muskets. Instead Bows and Muskets should have base damage raised slightly.

The crafting of these new Quivers and Ammo Pouches, i.e. the cost, should be easier than current Arrows and Bullets.

Yes!
Very sensible solution!

Also Blunderbusses and other projectile based weapons (just for future reference  )

I would even count throwing hatchets into this as the hatchet doesn’t magically return to you, does it?

Some balancing would be required no doubt, but its a great idea.

+1 this

You guys are aware that:
A. The Basic Ammo propably becomes Infinite in the next Patch.
B. The Stacksize has been doubled from 500 to 1000.

The easiest fix to prices would be to increase the Numbers of Crafted Ammo per Craft, from 50 to 100 or 200. That change alone could drop Ammo Prices by half or more.

I personally don’t want AGS to completely overhaul the System, as I think its fine except for the Ammo Prices.

Also, noone knows what kind of other Spaghetti will be Pulled out of the SpaghettiCode that is NewWorld with such a Removal.
Increasing Craft Numbers seem to be the simplest way.

Crafted still means cost. I’m fine with either the OP solution, or with everyone the n my party losing the same gold I lost in crafting the ammo. Right now it’s about 3000g per mutation. Make double the bullets? Cool, now it’s 1500g
You good with losing 1500g every run?
Or any gold on top of normal damage to durability?

The fact that basic ammo is now infinite shows they have made a significant change on the PTR. Flint Ammo has been removed.

All they would need to do is

  • Remove the ability to craft ammo
  • Add the ability to craft Quivers and Ammo Pouches
  • For every X number of arrows or Bullets a player has remove these and give an equivalent new Quiver or Ammo Pouch.

The last point is the only difficult thing to do.
Removing the ability to craft ammo basically removes the whole of the numbered ammo system from the game. Instead the tiered quivers and pouches give you a basic +% damage to every shot whilst active.
