Get Rid of the Moderation

There’s really no great discussion here folks. A quick glance shows there are probably two people in this thread that want it to stay alive for an outlet. There is a place to appeal bans, and it’s not “game feedback” section of the forums.

In the mind of a child, sometimes negative attention is better than no attention.

Let’s move on so all you astute forum contributors can apply brainpower to a more worthy idea/thought.

You are literally breaking the rules while defending them lol.

Incorrect.

Amazon sell the game in the UK and the EU and no matter where the data is stored, in order to keep doing business in Europe they must abide by GDPR requirements while dealing with EU and UK nationals.

Just like Facebook do despite operating out of the US and storing their data in the US.

As a UK citizen, i literally have GDPR rights everywhere if the product or service was intentionally provided to me by the vendor.

Nope.

You do not have freedom of speech in a video game. Amazon is not the US government, so freedom of speech does not apply to them, or any platform or service they provide.

I think many of the users replying completely fail to comprehend the obvious hyperbole in your topic title; whether it is done intentionally so they can argue or not isn’t for me to judge!

That said I agree with you that the current system is incredibly heavy-handed & is being abused by the individuals truly deserving of bans.

It also seems like many of those downplaying the issue here & elsewhere are incredibly lacking in empathy for others, either this situation has yet to impact them or someone they are close to - or they are part of the problem attempting to deflect from the issue so their abuse can continue unhindered & unchecked! Again, not for me to judge!

I left ESO because trolls ran the game - after watching them get away with anything I just gave up, sold off my gear & uninstalled.

I totally agree with this… but wasn’t there an in-game moderator advertising what a lot of people took as an Anti-LGBTQIA company on their employee account? Whether it was intended or not, given they’re Russian and the political stance of LGBTQIA in that particular country, it’s not a good look.

The very first letter of that screen shot is photo shopped lol

No idea on that since it’s not my screenshot or server and I just assumed it was a Cyrillic letter - it was posted to Reddit a few days ago and got a ton of traction with other people backing it up.

Either way a GM should not be abusing their employee account (and hence highlighted text) to advertise a company.

Probably because they are so worked up, on their bizarro liberal idea’s, that ironically aren’t even liberal, that they didn’t realize the first letter, is photo shopped, and could be literally any other letter, or even a combination of 2 letters.

That’s quite different from what the OP is talking about though.

I also have read of a lot of ppl being massively reported just before wars which gets them instantly banned and this is a HUGE issue that MUST be resolved and abusers should be punished instead.
The game obviously need some refining in the terms of moderations but surely not because ppl being banned for cursing.

Hello!
We moderators do not play while we work, it is the players themselves who decide to report people. I understand what is happening in Russia and if none of them decide to make the report we cannot realize it. If we receive at least even one report about it, I assure you that we are already working on it.

I agree to a point OP, not just this game but many online public spaces are being policed a bit much. But… even IRL in a place where the constitution has a form of freedom of speech, that freedom only extends to the point till you are violating another’s rights, then your freedom of speech ends. It really is not much different in an online space. You have freedom of speech, the moment you cross the line and are violating the rights of others as set by the rules of AGS in this case, your freedom of speech ends.

You have attempted to over complicate it, or maybe just bored, not sure, the rules are fairly simple. If people are getting banned just for using cuss words and they are not directed at anyone that violates the rules, then that is over moderating. I think it’s safe to assume that is rather rare as I see many cussing in every game I play.

My issue is the Code of Conduct.

The entire thing is completely vague and can be applied however they want with zero consistency required.

Even at the very bottom of it, it states that you will also break CoC for any reason they decide.

It is an open-ended CoC that allows them to target people for reasons.

While we have included a few representative examples above, this is not an exhaustive list of things you should and shouldn’t do. Accordingly, to protect the integrity of our community and foster a fun and safe space in which to play, we reserve the right to penalize any account or take other disciplinary actions at any time for any conduct that we determine to violate the spirit of this Code of Conduct or otherwise find to be inappropriate or harmful to the community. If you are unsure if your behavior will violate the Code of Conduct, it probably does.

We may update this Code of Conduct

This is why mass reporting to get people banned is a thing, it falls under this.

I want! Because I’m sick and tired of little kids swearing and spamming the global channel with the most stupid trash talk someone could imagine. In my opinion they should even ban more of these guys!

Dont worry i understand your point of view, and i am mostly agree with your arguments, as i said, i probably never will use these kind of names (i cant say never cause some years ago i did use a nick that probably today would be banned xD (not a killer one)) But i have played with friends who sometimes had used a controversial names, and i am sure they arent “dangerous people” to call the police, but more for random reasons like “omg, my character face looks like…” Other times more to have fun, like to join a south american server and call yourself CristobalColon when u know some people will rage about (and it was 500 years ago…) And in my country just put any reference to a politic name and u have hours and hours of rage fun if u like that (in fact in my server each faction is compared to a politic force, and people dont say “get rid of these syndicate” they say “get rid of the “political real name”” And some people just follow the joke, cause Its is a roleplay joke!! but here are also people who take that seriously… Don’t know how to say it… just that people can offend for whatever they want. And i can agree or not, but as you said, every century has a diferent culture but also each country has their culture and also a teenager may have different morale values than a 40 years old. Because of that i find hard to put everyone in a “bad boy/gud boy” box and i prefer to dont get offended by things that arent really triying to offend me.

with all the shit that is around us every day, i dont want to lose my time getting offended cause nicknames or things like that. But at the end, thats just my choice. I respect other choices while everyone hold our feets on the ground

this is a stupid response, shut up

They banned a guy for 24 hours for saying in global chat

“Dude stop being a turd.”

… 24 hour ban.

I personally got banned from the steam forums for a WEEK because I said, and Im quoting…

“If the ques are SO outrageous snowflake, quit being a shrimp brain and go to a server WITHOUT a que??”

“abusive behavior”… 1 week ban… 1 WEEK… for the first offense Ive ever gotten on any steam forum EVER.

It was so ridiculous I couldnt help laughing.
