Getting 2 shot by great axe with 10k+ hp

Squishies are supposed to kill other squishies yes, but also healers and medium weight builds. They also do help kill heavies.

I said this in another thread but the game.is balanced around team effort. Im not defending the devs its just the direction they took.

Reap can be didged yes, i do it all the time. But ALSO yes, GA is overtuned. I’m just trying to.make you understand the reasoning behind the weapon, but i’m in agreement with you thats its mobility is waaaaaay too high right now.

BS. Reap is broken and doesn’t work properly. It was never fixed and is useless. People dodge out of my reap all the time so I am specing out of it again.

no he’s right actually, you cannot dodge out of reap. I fight ga a lot and have not once dodged out of it even if i preroll it.

no… he isn’t. I am not sure if it is the lag or if the skill never was fixed but we are several within the company that has seen it and are not using it anymore. Everyone is going maelstrom instead. Maybe you are confusing the 2, you don’t seem to pvp much.

I’m fine with a great axe user in light armor doing crazy damage. I’m fine with a great axe user in heavy armor doing bad damage. It doesn’t make sense, however, for a tanky, heavy armored player to hit like a truck.

I think they either need to reduce or remove the great axe auto-aim and light attack lunge OR nerf the damage like 20%.

Whot bro, reap is broken op right now, you can’t escape it because of the root.

Bro if everyone is saying it is broken, and only not working for you, then maybe the problem is in your game. But reap is disgunting now.

Remove the auto-aim/lounge for sure. Damage is ridiculous, true, but the auto aim i feel is the most disgusting thing. Even if they have shit ton of damage without auto aim at least you can kite them.

Nerf G.Axe

Let’s talk weapon design then. If any weapon should have lunge, it should be the spear. Maybe rapier, but for the sake of the argument lets say spear.

A 300 str gaxe user does significantly more damage than a 300 dex spear user. Even with the 20% bonus vs targets with grit, gaxe comes out ahead when trading hits.

When one weapon is #1 in multiple categories it’s a problem.

#1 in dps (not counting ranged but those shots take skill to land)
#1 in CC (probably tied with warhammer)
#1 in chase potential

I’m in light armor and kite great axes easily.

The problem is I see a lot of people cancel their dodge animations too early, so they cover as much distance as a med armor dodge and have shorter iframes. Time it better… it’s not spam dodge + weapon cancel. It’s dodge + wait until your feet/heels hit the ground + cancel

Are you kidding me? Spear is a hard counter to great axe. What are you on?

Tell me how you dodge out of reap root, gravity well root ( you can’t roll dodge as it pulls you to the center) and have stamina enought to roll dodge every light attack they have since it’s basically a free roll dodge for them

Diference is, their free roll dodge, aka light attack, doesn’t consume anything.

No weapon should have lounges, period, not axe, not spear, not anything, plain and simple, just learn how to hit the attacks, which on melee isn’t even that hard to have the need for a aimbot.

Do you actually want to learn? Or are you just arguing with me?

  1. Reap root is .25 so they can get their spin attack off. If you can’t tank this, put more CON
  2. Gravity well proc sounds like metal scraping concrete. when you hear it, dodge
  3. NEVER use your dash skills, ALWAYS save them for gravity well (if you failed to dodge) or if you know their gwell is on cooldown.
  4. For STR users, never double roll to zero stamina. Pulse your dodges, (Dodge, dodge again at 80+ stamina)
  5. For STR users, learn to triple roll (roll, double roll at 51 stamina) for emergencies only.
  6. Always animation cancel every dodge. Do NOT cancel too early/late. Learn timing

Last tip, the best way to counter great axe is to not give them your back. They are designed to chase, and if they have rouge/vicious, then you already lost the moment you turned around.

The best counter to great axe is to fight back. Spear, rapier, hammer, and (if your build is good, hatchet) will beat axe in a 1v1.

If 3 or more axes are chasing you, use my tips above. If you can’t get away in light armor, then it’s a L2P issue.

Edit: some more helpful tips i forgot to add

  1. Get the ring perk that gives 9 extra stamina. This allows STR users to immediately triple roll in emergencies.
  2. Try your best not to have 0 stamina (only in emergencies). 0 stam = death
  3. Resilience on all gear is a must
  4. If you’re in med/heavy armor, throw all these tips out the window. Why are you running in heavy armor?

I’m the guy above that said GA is balanced in group play, which it is, but most of what you said is BS.

You can’t escape GA. If it’s not the mobility attacks and abilities that catch you, it’s bloodlust proc at 15m.

In a 1 v 1 situation, a DPS can’t beat GA if they’re wearing heavy. If not, yes they can.

But as you said, GA is a chase weapon and the kit is working as intended, but it’s working just that little bit too well.

You play GA and probably get beat by good players sometimes, but when you have to struggle and play perfectly to win in a 1 v 1 situatio against GA and still.lose 9/10 times, the said weapon is too strong.

If i dodge the grav well ( takes 2 dodges at least most of times since they aim exactly at center you), how will I, with 1 dodge available only at this point, dodge their Rush plus light attack lounges?

Plus axe hits 2k on frontal light attacks easily, how you gonna just stay there and fight back ? Riposte is easily dodged btw, so against skilled player, pretty useless so its 1 ability less you have.

And also, 3 axes? So basically in total, 3 grav wells, 3 reaps, 3 rushes. If they time their abilities correctly with each other, you got no chance, period.
