“This type of player”, Unfortunately I am addicted to the combat in this game, but the thought process of these devs blows my mind.
Either you never get slotted in war, or you love PvE. You would also feel this way if you spent time getting the correct competitive gear etc. for war only for your build to get blown up and have to restart. (I don’t play bruiser I’m just looking out for the homies).
PvP is what could’ve separated this game from others, not PvE.
But you’re correct, YOU may not miss us “types of players” but when the population is at 3k and 2 servers you will.
Staggers aren’t even the issue to be fair, there’s no benefit to bruiser team play/damage wise at 200 strength 300 con. There’s typically 15-20 bruisers slotted every war. Now wars will be 50 blunderbuss users including the healers.
they really believe that ags is “afraid of losing players”.
there were peaks of 1M players and now there are approximately 25k peaks.
they lost 975K peak players, losing 5k does not affect.
Look for a better argument to try to justify that your perfect construction will no longer be.
you lose I yelled. bad luck.
the lightweight construction is not that good. bad luck.
your setup becomes less efficient. bad luck.
And lastly, as I’m sure it’s the first time they’ve been in an mmo. I can only say, welcome to the mmo culture. it’s all buff and nerf cycles. because it is healthy and necessary.
And if someone does not agree, I already said it, 975k players have already made a decision, which of course, they can keep them company.
So you’re telling me they will continue to get funding for the game with a population of 2-3k players? Orrrr are you another person who enjoys PvE?
“welcome to mmo culture” I understand nerfs and buffs need to be made. But completely gutting builds in a game where there is barely any money making routes beside degen RNG rolling is a bit different. You’re telling me, you have a money making method that you can freely switch builds if your build gets ruined? After you’ve put multiple hours in to get the perfect gear for your build? If so let me know.
The issue is not the build, it’s war as a game mode. If you base a mode around point control and literally nothing else, the class with the most CC will dominate. Guess what? Now that class will be unkillable tanks pillow fighting each other. They will still be needed just as much as before, the only thing that will change is no one will play them in opr. Be ready for the BB burst meta cos it’s coming fast.
So the entire long term success of new world was based on exactly one class/build? If GA/WH 300 Str users don’t have perma grit for light attacks then the entire game is done? Seems like a totally rational theory.
I have +5K hours (not counting alpha and the 2 betas).
I have set pvp bis (and it takes time, but I have it).
I have set pve bis for each type of dungeon.
I have all the farm sets.
I have all the crafter sets.
I have all the trophies in the game.
I have lvl +200 in all professions.
I have, almost, all the weapons in the game, and I have an encore weapon of each type for pvp and pve.
and things changing, means I have more interesting things to do than just a 30 minute influence race for a war of broken buildings, and so predictable it’s boring.
at least a little challenge from time to time is good.
And whoever doesn’t agree with the changes, I don’t know why they take so long to uninstall and leave in silence. Here, tears are not important to anyone.
Lol I don’t understand how something that gives more damage isn’t a buff, like I understand it’s a bug fix, but it gives more damage so it’s acting like a buff.
Remember when the gutted FS the first time not to early into the game. It came with a bug fix where Pilar was double procing damage. That fix coupled with the actual nerfs made FS irrelevant.
Not everybody is going to put 5k hours into the game. Not everybody has the time like that. It’s pretty simple, bruiser was the most played build by the community, they gutted it. Most people won’t re-roll, population will continue to decline. Pretty simple.
Firestaff isn’t played as heavily, because it was gutted early enough people didn’t have BIS gear sets for it. Whereas bruiser has always been viable, and always been an essential build in both pve and pvp. You’re now gutting a build thousands of people use and have geared over their time playing to be borderline useless in war. It’s not a hard concept to process I don’t think? Unless I’m completely wrong and I have no clue what I’m talking about because I don’t have the time to put in 5k hours
That’s exactly what will happen LOL, people will try to adapt; build a set somehow with how many options there is to make money! And then they’ll gut bb, repeat.
There may be long term success in the PvE realm of things sure. But if you gut builds consistently, people will continue to leave because there’s not one viable method of obtaining multiple COMPETITIVE SETS (this entire thread geared towards wars at the top level).
You’ll have your hardcore PvErs that will stay though they love you guys
Honestly, I’m happy they’re shaking up the game, but moving grit to 300 con I feel is a little too extreme… I’m worried it’ll push the meta to even more ranged.
I’d much rather see them put grit on 200 con. That way light/medium bruisers have to sink a few extra points into con, but still are able to do a decent amount of damage. Otherwise, pretty much every BIS melee weapon becomes worthless.
